Comparison of Fingerstick Versus Venous Sample for Troponin I.

Chest PainMyocardial Infarction2 more

This study is a prospective, observational, cohort study aiming to compare point-of-care high-sensitive troponin I testing from different sample types with central laboratory (CL) HS cTnI plasma samples. A registry of all included patients and their troponin results (POC, CL and HS cTnT) will be made to compare these testing methods.

Dietary Antioxidants and Chronic Diseases-The Swedish National March Cohort

Myocardial InfarctionDiet1 more

Dietary antioxidants might protect from the development of chronic diseases by reducing levels of oxidative stress. The investigators therefore investigated the effect of dietary Non Enzymatic Antioxidant Capacity, which measures interactions between antioxidants in the whole diet, on the risk of 1) myocardial infarction and 2) osteoarthritis.

Post-ROSC Electrocardiogram After Cardiac arrEst

Out-Of-Hospital Cardiac ArrestInfarction1 more

PEACE study retrospectively evaluate patients who suffered an out-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) and who underwent a coronary angiography, enrolled in the registry of the Province of Pavia (Italy), Ticino Region (Switzerland), Wien region (Austria) and Nicosia area (Cyprus) to comprehend the best timing for post-ROSC ECG acquisition in order to reduce the number of false positive and to select the best candidates for emergency coronary angiography.

CT (Computerized Tomography) for Late EndovasculAr Reperfusion

StrokeCardiovascular

The objective of this multicenter, retrospective, cross-sectional, chart review study is to compare outcomes (disability, complications and mortality) of patients with large vessel occlusion stroke presenting at late time window selected by either Non-Contrast CT (NCCT) only, advanced imaging with CTP (Computed Tomography Perfusion), MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), or medical management. Boston Medical Center (BMC) will serve as the main data coordinating site. Fifteen additional sites will seek local IRB approval or ethics approval. The aggregated de-identified data will be analyzed comparing types of interventions and outcomes by type of imaging or medical management.

ARomatherapy for Cognitive Trajectory in Chinese After Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting

Coronary Artery Bypass GraftingMyocardial Infarction

The ARCTIC-CABG (Aromatherapy for Cognitive Trajectory in Chinese after Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting) trial is a randomized, double-blind, 2-arm, parallel group, placebo-controlled study to evaluated the effects of Aromatherapy in improving cognitive function in post-Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG) patients. The study will recruit 460 patients who undergo a first-time CABG at the Department of Cardiac Surgery in Beijing Anzhen Hospital. Baseline information will be collected prior to CABG, all eligible participants undergoing CABG will be randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio before hospital discharge to receive aromatherapy (70% menthol and 30% propanediol) or placebo (10% menthol and 90% propanediol). The treatment will last for 6 months in both groups. Cognitive function measurement will be conducted by blinded assessors at baseline (1-3 days before CABG) and at 3- and 6-month after CABG. The primary outcome will be the change in overall cognitive function (MOCA score) from baseline to 6-month after CABG.

Off-Pump and On-Pump Techniques and Oxidative Stress in CABG Surgery

Cerebral OxygenationOxidative Stress1 more

CABG (coronary artery bypass graft) surgery is among the most common heart surgeries performed in the heart pump. In CABG surgery, operations performed on the beating heart without the use of CPB (off-pump) are frequently performed (30-60%) (1). To the best of our knowledge, there has been no study examining cerebral oxygenation values, oxidative stress levels and postoperative results in CABG operations.
