AtherosclerosisCoronary Artery Disease1 moreThe ultimate goal of this project is to develop a risk score to identify patients with vulnerable coronary atherosclerotic plaques, who are prone to suffer acute coronary syndrome. Early identification of vulnerable plaques may have an enormous impact on public health through primary and secondary prevention of acute myocardial infarction. Investigators hypothesize that a risk score that incorporates non-invasive coronary CT imaging (calcium score and/or coronary CTA) in combination with clinical characteristics (classical risk prediction models) will improve the identification of patients who are at highest risk to suffer myocardial infarction or sudden cardiac death. The overall goal of the OPeRA project is to develop, implement and validate a novel risk assessment tool based on image markers and clinical characteristics to identify patients who are at increased risk to suffer myocardial infarction or sudden cardiac death.

Effect of Timi3 Ultrasound on Myocardial Blow Flow in the Hibernating Myocardium
Myocardial IschemiaThe purpose of this study is to evaluate whether the use application of low frequency ultrasound, administered by the Timi3 ultrasound device, increases myocardial blood flow to the heart, in subjects with reduced myocardial blood flow at rest (hibernating myocardium). The primary endpoint of the trial is to assess the increase in myocardial blood flow from baseline to post Timi3 Ultrasound treatment in a hypoperfused region of myocardium. Positron emission tomography (PET) imaging will be used to noninvasively evaluate cardiac blood flow. The hypothesis is that ultrasound increases blood flow in hibernating myocardium.

Coronary Artery DiseaseHybrid coronary revascularization (HCR) has emerged as a favorable technique over traditional coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) in a select group of patients with multivessel coronary artery disease (CAD). Till date, multiple individual studies comparing HCR with CABG have been carried out, but no data on the potential impact of sex on the outcome of HCR exist. To fill this knowledge gap, the investigators aim to perform an international collaborative multi-center study in order to examine gender differences in short-term and long-term outcomes among patients who underwent HCR or CABG.
