Dexamethasone or Dexamethasone in Combination With Thalidomide as Salvage Therapy

Multiple Myeloma

The purpose of this investigational trial is to find out how well patients respond and how long their response lasts when treated with a standard regimen of dexamethasone with or without thalidomide and also find out what kind of side effects patients will experience.

Combined Bone Marrow and Kidney Transplant for Multiple Myeloma With Kidney Failure

Kidney FailureChronic1 more

The purpose of this study is to determine whether a combined bone marrow and kidney transplant will be effective in treating stage II or greater multiple myeloma and associated kidney failure. This study will determine whether transplant rejection and the need for immunosuppressive drugs are decreased with this combined transplant approach.

Adult Acute Myeloid Leukemia With 11q23 (MLL) AbnormalitiesAdult Acute Myeloid Leukemia With Inv(16)(p13;q22)62 more

This phase I trial is studying how well ipilimumab works after allogeneic stem cell transplant in treating patients with persistent or progressive cancer. Monoclonal antibodies can locate cancer cells and either kill them or deliver cancer-killing substances to them without harming normal cells.

Vaccination in the Peripheral Stem Cell Transplant Setting for Multiple Myeloma

Multiple Myeloma

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of vaccination with autologous myeloma cells and an allogeneic granulocyte-macrophage colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF) producing cell line.

Extranodal Marginal Zone B-cell Lymphoma of Mucosa-associated Lymphoid TissueNodal Marginal Zone B-cell Lymphoma44 more

This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of sorafenib in treating patients with metastatic or unresectable solid tumors, multiple myeloma, or non-Hodgkin's lymphoma with or without impaired liver or kidney function. Sorafenib may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth and by blocking blood flow to the cancer. Sorafenib may have different effects in patients who have changes in their liver or kidney function

Refractory Multiple MyelomaUnspecified Adult Solid Tumor1 more

Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as arsenic trioxide and pamidronate, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Arsenic trioxide and pamidronate may also stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Pamidronate may also stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking blood flow to the cancer. Giving arsenic trioxide together with pamidronate may kill more cancer cells. This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of arsenic trioxide and pamidronate in treating patients with advanced solid tumors or multiple myeloma

Refractory Multiple Myeloma

RATIONALE: Aurora A kinase inhibitor MLN8237 and bortezomib may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. PURPOSE: This phase I/II trial is studying the side effects and best dose of giving aurora A kinase inhibitor MLN8237 together with bortezomib and to see how well they work in treating patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma.

Multiple Myeloma

The purpose of this study is to determine the maximum tolerated dose (MTD) and to evaluate the safety of cyclophosphamide when given on days 1 and 8 in a 28 day cycle in doses starting at 300mg ranging to 700mg in combination with Lenalidomide (Revlimid®) plus dexamethasone in patients who present with relapsed or refractory myeloma.

Study of Bendamustine, Velcade and Dexamethasone in the Treatment of Elderly Patients With Multiple...

Multiple Myeloma

The present trial is designed as a phase II study that aims at estimating the efficacy of the combination of bendamustine, bortezomib and dexamethasone in relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma (MM). The response rate, i.e. the rate of the patients achieving a Complete Response or Partial Response at cycle 4, divided by the total intent to treat patient number is chosen as primary efficacy endpoint. The estimation of the efficacy rate is to be based on an explorative pilot study, since immediate embarking on a large-scale comparative efficacy trial would not be acceptable from the point of view of resources. Moreover, this would induce ethical objections, as it does not seem to be justifiable to expose a large number of patients to an experimental approach without sufficient exploratory indications of an improved risk-benefit ratio.
