Celecoxib and Docetaxel or Pemetrexed in Treating Patients With Advanced Recurrent Non-Small Cell...

Lung Cancer

RATIONALE: Celecoxib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes need for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as docetaxel, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving celecoxib together with docetaxel or pemetrexed may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well celecoxib given together with docetaxel or pemetrexed works in treating patients with advanced or recurrent non-small cell lung cancer.

Sorafenib, Cisplatin, and Etoposide in Treating Patients With Extensive-Stage Small Cell Lung Cancer...

Lung Cancer

RATIONALE: Sorafenib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth and by blocking blood flow to the tumor. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cisplatin and etoposide, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving sorafenib together with combination chemotherapy may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving sorafenib together with cisplatin and etoposide works in treating patients with extensive-stage small cell lung cancer.

A Study of the Effect of R1507 in Combination With Tarceva (Erlotinib) on Progression-Free Survival...

Non-Squamous Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

This 4 arm study in patients with advanced Stage IIIb/IV non-small cell cancer (NSCLC) who failed at least one standard chemotherapy regimen will determine the proportion of patients with progression-free survival at 12 weeks following combination therapy with R1507 and Tarceva or placebo and Tarceva. Patients will be randomized to one of four treatment arms to receive R1507 (9mg/kg iv) or placebo weekly or R1507 (16mg/kg iv) or placebo every 3 weeks. Tarceva (150mg oral daily) will be administered in all treatment arms. Other disease-related endpoints including overall survival, objective response rate, time to response, time to progressive disease and duration of response will also be evaluated. The anticipated time on study treatment is 1-2 years, and the target sample size is <500 individuals.

Sorafenib and Thoracic Radiation for Patients With Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Lung Cancer

The goal of this clinical research study is to find the highest safe dose of sorafenib that can be given in combination with radiation therapy to people with lung cancer. The ability of both the study drug and radiation to control the disease will also be studied.

Photodynamic Therapy in Treating Patients With Resectable Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer That Has Spread...

Lung CancerMetastatic Cancer

RATIONALE: Photodynamic therapy uses a drug, such as porfimer sodium, that is absorbed by tumor cells. The drug becomes active when it is exposed to light. When the drug is active, tumor cells are killed. Giving photodynamic therapy during surgery may kill any tumor cells that remain after surgery. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying the side effects and how well photodynamic therapy given during surgery works in treating patients with resectable non-small cell lung cancer that has spread to the pleura.

Pazopanib + Vinorelbine in Non Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) and Breast Cancer

Metastatic Non Small Cell Lung CancerMetastatic Breast Cancer

The purpose of this study is to determine the highest dose of Vinorelbine and Pazopanib that can be given together without causing severe side effects. Also, this study will evaluate what effects (good and bad) that the treatment has on patients and their cancer.

Taxotere-Enoxaparin-(ENOXA)-Study

Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

Taxotere-Enoxaparin-(ENOXA)-Study: 1st-Line Docetaxel-Platin Chemotherapy as single therapy or in combination with Enoxaparin in patients aged older than 18 years with locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (stadium IIIb/IV), a phase III study. Study hypothesis: Increase of progressive free survival from 5 to 7.5 months.

Dasatinib in Advanced Non-small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCL) With Ex Vivo and In Vivo Assessment of Tumor...

Lung Cancer

The main purpose of this study is to learn how patients with Advanced Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) respond to the study drug Dasatinib. The study drug, Dasatinib, has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for treatment of leukemia, but has not been approved for the treatment of other kinds of cancer. The use of Dasatinib in this study is considered experimental.
