Serum Endotoxin Assay to Predict the Development of Postoperative Infectious Complications and Systemic...
NephrolithiasisUrosepsisThe aim of the study is to establish an infectious risk stratification system based on pre-and post-operative blood endotoxin profile.
A Randomized Study of Whether Alfuzosin(Xatral) Helps in the Passage of Kidney Stones
Kidney StonesPatients who present for the first time to Emergency Room with renal colic due to a distal ureteral calculus (as diagnosed with spiral CT scan and KUB) will be randomized to receive Xatral 10mg po once a day or placebo once discharged from the ER. The purpose of this study is to assess if patients treated with Xatral will have a higher spontaneous passage rate of their ureteral stone than those treated with placebo.
Effect of Quercetin Supplements on Healthy Males: a Four-Week Randomized Cross-Over Trial
HyperuricemiaGout3 moreThe purpose of this study was to test the effect of chronic consumption of Quercetin 500 mg tablets on blood uric acid and other biomarkers in adult males.
Strategies to Maximise Patient Comfort During ESWL
NephrolithiasisExtracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy is an outpatient treatment for patients with intrarenal calculi. Standard of care involves offering oral analgesia prior to commencing the treatment. Most patients do not take the offered analgesia after the initial treatment. It has been suggested that distraction techniques may be equivalent to oral analgesia in improving tolerability of extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy treatment. The use of distraction techniques also removes the potential side effects of mediation administration.
The Effect of Education Given to Patients on Pre- and Post-operative Anxiety and Preparation for...
Kidney CalculiThe data of the randomized controlled experimental research were collected at Atatürk University Health Application and Research Hospital Urology Clinics between November 2021 and May 2022. The study sample consisted of 122 patients (61 in the training group, 61 in the control group) who were selected by the simple random sampling method and met the research inclusion criteria.
Trial of Randomized Antibiotic Administration in Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy
Kidney StonesThe Investigators objective is to compare the clinical efficacy of a single-day protocol with a short-course protocol for PCNL. The investigator hope is to reduce the use of possibly unnecessary prolonged antibiotic use, reduce hospital costs and prevent the further propagation of resistant microbes.
Use of Tolvaptan to Reduce Urinary Supersaturation: a Pilot Proof of Principle Study
NephrolithiasisCalcium Oxalate2 moreIn this study the investigators propose to use a daily dose of 45 mg (30 mg at 8 AM and 15 mg at 4 PM). This relatively small well-tolerated dose is likely to persistently increase urine volume and reduce urine supersaturation and to be well tolerated by patients with kidney stone disease and normal renal function (see below). The twice-daily (8 AM and 4 PM) regimen is designed to produce a maximal AVP inhibition on waking with a gradual fall-off of effect during the night. To this end, a higher dose is used in the morning, with a lower dose in the afternoon.
The Effect of Three Endourological Procedures for the Management of Renal Calculi Regarding Acute...
Renal CalculiRenal InsufficiencyThe main aim of the study is to investigate and compare the possible acute effect of standard PCNL, mini-PCNL and RIRS on renal function. Secondary aims are to investigate the efficacy (stone-free rate), safety (complication rate, long-term kidney function) and other parameters (operation, fluoroscopy and hospitalization time) concerning the 3 endourological operations (PCNL, mini- PCNL, RIRS) for the treatment of renal calculi.
Basic Hemodynamic Monitoring Reliability During Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy.
Renal StoneThis prospective pre and post-quasi-descriptive single group interventional study will be done at urology and nephrology center -Mansoura University during the year 2019, for a 3-month duration, starting 1-2-2019 till 1-4-2019 after approval of IRB (Institutional Review Board) code no R/18.03.103 on 5/5/2018, Mansoura Faculty of Medicine. correlating Basic hemodynamics with noninvasive cardiac output for diagnostic reliability during percutaneous nephrolithotomy hidden bleeding under spinal anesthesia
The Efficacy of Peritubal Analgesic Infiltration in Postoperative Pain Following Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy...
Renal StoneThe investigators aim to investigate the effect of peritubal local anesthetic infiltration on pain scores and analgesic consumption in patients who underwent percutaneous nephrolithotomy.
