High-Dose Iodine I 131 Metaiodobenzylguanidine, Topotecan, and Peripheral Stem Cell Transplant in...

Neuroblastoma

RATIONALE: Radioisotope therapy, such as iodine I 131 metaiodobenzylguanidine (MIBG), releases radiation that kills tumor cells. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as topotecan, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Topotecan may also make tumor cells more sensitive to iodine I 131 MIBG. A peripheral stem cell transplant may be able to replace blood-forming cells that were destroyed by iodine I 131 MIBG and topotecan. This may allow more iodine I 131 MIBG and topotecan to be given so that more tumor cells are killed. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving high-dose iodine I 131 MIBG together with topotecan and peripheral stem cell transplant works in treating young patients with relapsed stage 4 neuroblastoma or primary resistant high-risk neuroblastoma.

Determining Patterns In Study Experiences of Neuroblastoma Patients

Neuroblastoma

Historically, participation in clinical research is highly skewed towards particular demographic groups of people. This study will invite several participants to gather a wide range of information on clinical trial experiences for neuroblastoma patients. The aim of the study is to identify the factors that limit the ability of a person to enroll in, as well as complete a clinical trial for treatment of neuroblastoma. The data collected from this study will help improve future outcomes for all neuroblastoma patients as well as those in under-represented demographic groups.

124I-Metaiodobenzylguanidine (MIBG) PET/CT Diagnostic Imaging and Dosimetry for Patients With Neuroblastoma:...

Neuroblastoma

This is a pilot study with the primary purpose to describe organ dosimetry and acute toxicities using no carrier added and carrier added 124I-MIBG PET/CT in patients with neuroblastoma (NB). Eligible patients are 3 years of age and older with relapsed or refractory neuroblastoma who are currently enrolled on a treatment protocol with 131I-MIBG. After all eligibility criteria are met, patients will receive a diagnostic imaging dose of 124I-MIBG followed by sequential PET/CT dosimetry scans on Days 0, 1, 2 and 5. Subsequent, planned therapeutic administration of 131I-MIBG will occur between Days 7 to 21, as specified by the patient's therapeutic MIBG protocol. An optional single follow up 124I-MIBG PET-CT scan will be done to assess tumor sites 6 weeks after the patient has their MIBG therapy.

GA-68 DOTA-TOC of Somatostatin Positive Malignancies

Neuroendocrine TumorParaganglioma2 more

This phase I/II trial studies how well gallium Ga 68-DOTA-TOC positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) or PET/magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) works in imaging patients with somatostatin receptor positive tumors. Gallium Ga 68-DOTA-TOC binds to somatostatin receptor positive tumors and can be seen using a PET scan. A PET scan uses a special camera to detect energy given off from gallium Ga 68-DOTA-TOC, to make detailed pictures of areas where material accumulates in the body. Diagnostic procedures, such as gallium Ga 68-DOTA-TOC PET/CT or PET/MRI, may help find and diagnose somatostatin receptor positive tumors and help plan the best treatment.

Accelerated Phase Chronic Myelogenous LeukemiaAdult Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in Remission114 more

RATIONALE: Lithium carbonate may be an effective treatment for intestinal graft-versus-host disease caused by a donor stem cell transplant. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying lithium carbonate in treating patients with acute intestinal graft-versus-host-disease after donor stem cell transplant.

Breast CancerChronic Myeloproliferative Disorders10 more

RATIONALE: Antiemetic drugs, such as aprepitant, granisetron, and dexamethasone, may help lessen or prevent nausea and vomiting in patients treated with chemotherapy. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying how well giving aprepitant together with granisetron and dexamethasone works in preventing nausea and vomiting in patients receiving cyclophosphamide before undergoing an autologous stem cell transplant.

Accelerated Phase Chronic Myelogenous LeukemiaAdult Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in Remission92 more

RATIONALE: A personalized Internet-based program may help improve fatigue, depression, and quality of life in long-term survivors of stem cell transplant. It is not yet known whether an Internet-based program is more effective with or without telephone-based problem-solving training. PURPOSE: This randomized clinical trial is studying how well an Internet-based program works with or without telephone-based problem-solving training in helping long-term survivors of hematopoietic stem cell transplant cope with late complications

Brain TumorCentral Nervous System Tumor7 more

RATIONALE: Sodium thiosulfate may reduce or prevent hearing loss in young patients receiving cisplatin for cancer. It is not yet known whether sodium thiosulfate is more effective than no additional treatment in preventing hearing loss. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying sodium thiosulfate to see how well it works in preventing hearing loss in young patients receiving cisplatin for newly diagnosed germ cell tumor, hepatoblastoma, medulloblastoma, neuroblastoma, osteosarcoma, or other malignancy.
