PC001- A Study to Evaluate the Usability of PointCheck
NeoplasmsNeutropeniaThis a study about the usability of PointCheck a novel non-invasive technology for monitoring chemotherapy-induced neutropenia. The study will include patients with cancer visiting the outpatient hematology clinic for their standard of care chemotherapy administration. A final sample size of 90 oncologic outpatients will be enrolled and studied with the technology. The main objective is to evaluate the usability of PointCheck. Secondary outcomes include a preliminary assessment of PointCheck diagnostic accuracy and precision. For this, study subjects will be tested twice with PointCheck during the same session and the usability in an at-home simulated environment by naïve users will be evaluated
Pegfilgrastim as Support to Pediatric Sarcoma Patients Receiving Chemotherapy
SarcomaNeutropeniaPhysicians are conducting a clinical trial for patients with pediatric sarcoma. Sarcoma is a type of bone cancer that can be treated with chemotherapy which can affect the bone marrow, where blood cells are produced. Neutrophils are a type of white blood cells that fight infection and are produced in the bone marrow. If the neutrophil count becomes too low due to chemotherapy, a potentially serious condition called neutropenia occurs. Neutropenia is serious because it can affect the body's ability to protect against many types of infections. Pegfilgrastim is an investigational drug being evaluated for its potential ability to increase the number of neutrophils. The purpose of this study is to determine the safety and effectiveness of pegfilgrastim in preventing neutropenia following chemotherapy in pediatric patients up through the age of 21 with sarcoma.

Profound, prolonged neutropenia (Absolute neutrophil count<500 cells/cubic mm for at least 7 days) due to induction chemotherapy for acute myelogenous leukemia, or myelodysplastic syndrome. Febrile NeutropeniaStage 0 Breast Cancer26 moreThis randomized clinical trial studies prophylactic colony stimulating factor management in patients with breast, colorectal or non-small cell lung cancer receiving chemotherapy and with risk of developing febrile neutropenia. Patients receiving chemotherapy may develop febrile neutropenia. Febrile neutropenia is a condition that involves fever and a low number of neutrophils (a type of white blood cell) in the blood. Febrile neutropenia increases the risk of infection. Colony stimulating factors are medications sometimes given to patients receiving chemotherapy to prevent febrile neutropenia. Colony stimulating factors are given to patients based on guidelines. Some clinics have an automated system that helps doctors decide when to prescribe them when there is a high risk of developing febrile neutropenia. Gathering information about the use of an automated system to prescribe prophylactic colony stimulating factor may help doctors use colony stimulating factor when it is needed.

Neupogen® is approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat low numbers of specific kinds of white blood cells (WBC) known as neutrophils. This type of white cell is important in fighting infections. A low neutrophil count is known as neutropenia. Both drugs work by increasing the number of neutrophils that are produced in the body. This is important for patients who have low neutrophils due to chemotherapy, other treatments such as bone marrow transplant or certain other conditions with symptoms/problems related to low neutrophil counts. The main aim of the study is to test how Filgrastim Hospira works in the body compared to Neupogen®.
