Neutropenia (Low White Blood Cell Count)

This is a study comparing two study drugs, Filgrastim Hospira and Neupogen®. Neupogen® is approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat low numbers of specific kinds of white blood cells (WBC) known as neutrophils. This type of white cell is important in fighting infections. A low neutrophil count is known as neutropenia. Both drugs work by increasing the number of neutrophils that are produced in the body. This is important for patients who have low neutrophils due to chemotherapy, other treatments such as bone marrow transplant or certain other conditions with symptoms/problems related to low neutrophil counts. The main aim of the study is to test how Filgrastim Hospira works in the body compared to Neupogen®.

This randomized phase III trial compares the effectiveness of caspofungin to fluconazole in preventing invasive fungal infections in patients receiving chemotherapy for acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Antifungal prophylaxis is considered standard of care in children and adults with prolonged neutropenia after chemotherapy for AML however the ideal antifungal agent for prophylaxis in children is not known. Caspofungin has activity against yeast and some molds while fluconazole coverage is limited to just yeasts. Adult randomized trials suggest that agents with activity against yeasts and molds are more effective than those with just activity against yeasts. There are limited data to answer this comparative question in children. This study will establish much needed pediatric data to guide clinical decision making on optimal antifungal prophylaxis.

The primary purpose of this study is to compare the duration of severe neutropenia (DSN) in patients treated with: Docetaxel, doxorubicin, and cyclophosphamide (TAC) + pegfilgrastim versus Docetaxel, doxorubicin, and cyclophosphamide (TAC) + monotheray plinabulin or combination plinabulin/pegfilgrastim Severe neutropenia is an absolute neutrophil count (ANC) <0.5 × 10^9/L. Docetaxel, doxorubicin, and cyclophosphamide (TAC) will be used as the chemotherapy in this study.

This is a phase 3, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled multi-center study evaluating the efficacy of pegfilgrastim to reduce the incidence of febrile neutropenia (FN) in patients with newly diagnosed, locally-advanced or metastatic colorectal cancer receiving first-line treatment with bevacizumab and either 5-fluorouracil, Oxaliplatin, Leucovorin (FOLFOX) or 5-fluorouracil, Irinotecan, Leucovorin (FOLFIRI). This study will also investigate the effect of adding pegfilgrastim to bevacizumab and either FOLFOX or FOLFIRI by evaluating overall survival, progression-free survival, and overall response rate in each arm at regular intervals over a maximum of 60 months follow-up.
