Efficacy Of Pregabalin In The Treatment Of Pancreatic Cancer Pain. A Randomized Controlled Double-Blind,...

Pancreatic CancerVisceral Pain

This is a randomized, double blind controlled, parallel arms trial, aimed to assess the efficacy of pregabalin on pancreatic cancer induced abdominal pain. The goals of this study include (1) assessing the analgesic effect of pregabalin in comparison to placebo; assessing the presence of central sensitization and its potential reversion by Pregabalin; (3) assessing quality of life of patients treated with pregabalin in comparison to placebo; (4) to compare adverse effects in patients treated with Pregabalin in comparison to placebo; (5) to compare anxiety and depression in patients treated with pregabalin in comparison to placebo.

Lenalidomide (Revlimid) for the Treatment of Refractory Cancer Pain

Advanced CancerPain

The goal of this clinical research study is to learn if lenalidomide can help to treat uncontrolled pain caused by advanced cancer. Primary Objectives: 1. Determine efficacy of Lenalidomide for the treatment of refractory cancer pain, as measured by the change on Edmonton symptom assessment scale (ESAS). Secondary Objectives: To determine the effect of Lenalidomide on fatigue, sleep, depressed mood, nausea and appetite/anorexia. Determine changes in serum levels of inflammatory cytokines (IL-1beta, IL-6, TNF-alpha, interferon(IFN)-alpha and IFN-gamma, and C-reactive protein) before and after treatment with Lenalidomide. Effect of Lenalidomide on T-cell subsets especially T-regulatory cells Effect of Lenalidomide on the expression of costimulatory receptors, CD80, CD86, and CD40, on myeloid and plasmacytoid dendritic cells Safety (type, frequency, severity, and relationship of adverse events to study treatment)

Evaluation of the Efficacy and Safety of Fentanyl Delivered by Adhesive Skin Patch in Out-Patients...

Pain

The purpose of this study is to determine the safety and efficacy of pain control by fentanyl, administered via adhesive skin patches, at doses of 25 to 100 micrograms per hour in 80 out-patients with intense chronic cancer pain. Higher doses are allowed by permission of the investigator and rescue oral morphine medication is allowed.

Pilot Study to Evaluate the Safety and Analgesic Activity of M40403 Co-Administered With an Opioid...

CancerPain

M40403 was found to be effective in reducing pain in animal models and in clinical studies of subjects who were experiencing pain after dental surgery. The proposed study is designed to investigate the efficacy and safety of M40403 when co-administered with an opioid in subjects with pain due to cancer.

Comparison of Oral Morphine Versus Nasal Ketamine Spray With Chitosan in Cancer Pain Outpatients...

Cancer: Breakthrough PainCancer: Extreme Pain on Movement

34 adult (>18 years) cancer pain outpatients with Opioid base therapy because of pain and breakthrough pain or extreme pain on movement will be included in this prospective, randomized, double-blind crossover study. Over a period of 3 weeks patients will go through 3 treatment arms, each one lasting one week: Group A receives morphine drops and Placebo spray, Group B receives ketamine/chitosan spray nasal and Placebo drops and Group C receives morphine drops and ketamine/chitosan spray nasal. Primary endpoint is time to onset of action of intranasal ketamine compared with morphine drops. Secondary endpoint is the median numeric rating scale (NRS) improvement after using the spray or morphine or the combination of ketamine spray and morphine drops.

The Effect of Acupressure and Reiki on Pain and Fatigue Levels

AcupressureCancer Pain1 more

This research was conducted with the aim of determining the effect of levels of pain and fatigue of acupressure and Reiki application on cancer patients receiving palliative care. The research was a single-blind, repeated measures, randomized controlled study. Research data were collected between February and July 2022. The research sample consisted of acupressure and Reiki application groups and a control group with 52 patients in each group, a total of 156 patients. Data was collected by means of a Patient Description Form, an Analgesic Follow-up Form, the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group Performance Status Scale, the Numeric Pain Rating Scale, and the Brief Fatigue Inventory.

A Study to Compare the Titration Efficacy and Safety of Control-released Oxycodone and Immediate-released...

CancerPain

This study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a titration method by selects 10 mg control-released (CR) oxycodone tablet as background drug in combined with immediate-released (IR) oxycodone, compared to conventional titration method with immediate-released (IR) oxycodone in patients with moderate to severe cancer pain in Taiwan.

Usefulness of Acetaminophen Associated With Strong Opioids for Acute Pain in Cancer Patients

Acute PainCancer Pain

Cancer pain is one of the most frequent and relevant symptoms in cancer patients and has a great impact on a patient's quality of life. International and local standards recommend as an initial strategy, the use of an analgesic scheme composed of strong opioids (morphine, methadone or fentanyl) associated with adjuvants such as paracetamol, based upon the assumption that the use of combined analgesics could have a better analgesic effect, could allow the use of lower dose of opioids and that also could prevent the occurrence of adverse effects of opioids. However, there is uncertainty about the impact of paracetamol as an adjuvant in patients who use strong opioids for pain management in cancer patients with moderate to severe pain. To clarify this question, this study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of intravenous paracetamol associated with strong opioids in hospitalized cancer patients who have pain associated with cancer of moderate to severe intensity, (4 or more), older than 18 years. Randomized double-blinded controlled study comparing intravenous acetaminophen 1 gr 4 times a day versus placebo for 48 hours as an adjuvant to strong opioids. We will assess pain intensity as a primary outcome validated assessments that estimate Verbal Numerical Rating Scale (VNRS) analogous verbal pain from 0 to 10, and de visual Analog Scale (VAS). We estimated that a decrease of 1 point on the verbal numerical scale would be statistically significant. In addition, the investigators will calculate the amount of total opioid dose in 24 hours and then perform the intervention. As a secondary outcome, adverse effects such as drowsiness, constipation, nausea and vomiting would be evaluated
