Opioid-Related DisordersThe purpose of this study is to compare the efficacy of buprenorphine versus methadone.
Smoking Cessation Interventions for People Living With HIV in Nairobi, Kenya
HivOpioid Dependence1 moreThe proposed study will use a factorial design to evaluate the most promising and accessible behavioral and pharmacologic treatments aimed at achieving maximal efficacy for smoking cessation among people living with HIV who smoke. The study will randomize 300 participants people living with HIV , who smoke and who are receiving care in a methadone maintenance program in Nairobi, Kenya to one of the following 4 conditions: (1) bupropion + Positively Smoke Free (an 8 session tailored behavioral intervention for people living with HIV smokers); (2) bupropion + Standard of Care (brief advice to quit); (3) Placebo + Positively Smoke Free; and (4) Placebo + Standard of Care.
Medication Maintenance Therapy in Community Pharmacy Settings
Opioid-use DisorderThe goal of this study is to examine how the pharmacy can better optimize treatment expansion by providing pharmacy-based medication assisted treatment (MAT) for maintenance under a collaborative pharmacy practice agreement.
Neurobehavioral Measurement of Substance Users in Outpatient Treatment Setting
Cocaine DependenceCocaine Use Disorder3 moreThis study was an internal program effectiveness evaluation of the effects of a four-session weekly individualized cognitive therapy program (called the "Mind Freedom Plan" (MFP)) on substance use outcomes and substance abuse treatment retention in Veterans admitted to an intensive outpatient treatment program for substance abuse at the Richmond Veterans Administration Medical Center (RICVAMC). Substance use and treatment retention metrics of MFP-assigned Veterans were compared with those of Veterans assigned to typical case-management-oriented weekly individual sessions.
Stimulant Oxytocin Study
Stimulant Use & Co-occuring Opioid Use DisordersThis study will investigate the effects of intranasal administration of oxytocin, a social neuropeptide, on reducing stimulant use, enhancing therapeutic engagement, and susceptibility to stress-induced relapse in Veterans with stimulant use disorders and enrolled in opioid replacement therapy (ORT) program for co-occurring opioid use disorder (OUD).
Single Ascending Dose Study of RBP-6000
Opioid Use DisorderA multi-center, open-label, single ascending dose study to enroll opioid dependent treatment-seeking subjects. Subjects to be enrolled into 3 cohorts receiving low, medium and high doses of depot buprenorphine. A fourth cohort will be enrolled to evaluate the PK of RBP-6000 after receiving suboxone tablets for 7 days.
MySafeRx & MedicaSafe Open-Label Buprenorphine Induction and Lapse Evaluation (MyMOBILE)
Opioid Use DisorderThe goal of the MyMOBILE study is to evaluate the feasibility, acceptability, and usability of a novel platform that integrates text messaging reminders, secure electronic pill organizers, and daily remote brief motivational recovery support visits with a standardized protocol for supervised self-administration of buprenorphine via videoconferencing.
Comparing Treatments for HIV-Infected Opioid Users in an Integrated Care Effectiveness Study (CHOICES)...
Opioid-use DisorderHivThe Primary Objective of this study is to compare the effectiveness of HIV clinic-based extended-release Naltrexone (XR-NTX) in decreasing substance use and increasing HIV viral suppression in HIV-infected participants with opioid use disorder to Treatment as Usual in this population.
Recovery Housing and Drug Abuse Treatment Outcome
Mental and Behavioral Disorders Due to Use of Cocaine: Harmful UseOpiate AddictionReinforcement-Based Therapy (RBT) is an intensive outpatient substance abuse treatment that includes relapse prevention skills training, goal setting, help with finding employment and abstinence-contingent rent payment for recovery housing in the community. It is meant to provide motivation for continued abstinence while enhancing social stability. In this study, treatment was offered to inner city opiate and cocaine users immediately following a brief medically-supported residential detoxification. Previous research had shown that RBT produces 3- month outcomes superior to those for patients who are referred to outpatient treatment in the community. The present study compared outcomes for patients (N = 243) randomly assigned to receive abstinence-contingent recovery housing with (full RBT) or without additional intensive counseling or to receive usual care referral to outpatient treatment following detoxification. Outcomes were similar at 3- and 6-month follow-ups for those who received recovery housing with (full RBT) and without additional counseling and both these treatments were superior to usual care referral. Study findings support the efficacy of post-detoxification recovery housing with or without counseling for opiate and cocaine users.
