Comparison of MIS Anterior Versus MIS Anterolateral Approach
Osteoarthritis of the HipAim of the present investigation is to analyse the amount of muscle trauma in relation to the surgical approach and to the individual postoperative functional recovery. The investigation will compare the MIS (minimally invasive surgery) anterior approach with the MIS anterolateral approach to the hip.
Compaction Femur Preparation for Cementless Total Hip Arthroplasty (THA) Unilateral
CoxarthrosisThis is a prospective, randomized study comparing two different bone preparation techniques for insertion of a hydroxylapatite (HA) coated titanium cementless femoral stem. Patients who receive a unilateral total hip replacement are randomized to either conventional broaching or compaction. Hypothesis: Compaction results in significantly less stem migration [evaluated by radiostereometric analysis (RSA)], less peri-prosthetic bone mineral density (BMD) loss [evaluated by dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA)], and a higher Harris hip score after two years.
Leisure Expectations About Physical Activity Study
Hip OsteoarthritisKnee OsteoarthritisTo pilot test an activity-focused intervention that educates patients undergoing total hip (THA) or total knee (TKA) arthroplasty due to osteoarthritis about the appropriate type, frequency, intensity, and duration of expected leisure activities after surgery and to determine if the intervention changed expectations.
Correlation of Spinopelvic Parameters and Acetabular Cup Orientation
Hip OsteoarthritisComplications; ArthroplastyIn total hip arthroplasty, cup anteversion is an important factor in stability. Lewinnek's safe zone and functional anteversion are often used to assess appropriate orientation. However, these approaches do not consider the effect of the spinopelvic chain and lumbar mobility when in the seated position. This study will measure functional anteversion when standing and sitting with patient-specific computer models and define a quantitative relationship between the change in functional anteversion and spinopelvic parameters. This will challenge the historical paradigm of the safe zone and provide a tool to define anteversion based on a patient's mechanics and reduce risk of dislocation.
Effect of Local Infiltration Anesthesia With Ropivacaine on Pain After Primary Total Hip Arthroplasty...
OsteoarthritisHipBackground: The Local infiltration analgesic (LIA) technique has been widely used to reduce opioid requirements and improve the patient's mobilization after total hip arthroplasty (THA). However, the evidence for LIA in THA remains to be clarified. Purpose: To evaluate whether a single shot LIA in addition to a multimodal analgesic regimen reduces acute postoperative pain and opioid requirements after THA.
Evaluation of Anesthetic Techniques in Outpatient Total Joint Replacement Surgery in an Integrated...
Anesthesia MorbidityOsteoarthritis3 moreThe study is a retrospective cohort study of adult patients undergoing outpatient primary unilateral total knee or total hip replacement surgeries from 2017 to 2019 assessing for difference in anesthetic techniques and outcomes.
Total Hip Arthroplasty: Fast Track Protocol is the Future?
Hip OsteoarthritisArthropathy of HipFast-track total hip arthroplasty (THA) is a well-established concept including optimized logistics and evidence-based treatment, focusing on minimizing surgical stress and improved post-operative recovery. The aim of this protocol is to compare the standard care and fast track total hip arthroplasties in terms of functional and subjective outcomes, hospital staying, number of transfusions and analgesic consumption.
Effects of a Structured Digital Osteoarthritis Self-management Program After 6 Months of Adherence...
OsteoarthritisKnee2 moreThis is a study based on a cohort in a register of patients enrolled in a digital osteoarthritis self-management program, Joint Academy. The purpose of this study is to examine joint pain and the potential change of this pain, in patients with long-term adherence to a digital self-management program for individuals with knee- and hip osteoarthritis. The hypothesis, based on preliminary findings is that pain levels of those adhering to the program, decreases over time. To test the hypothesis, participants weekly pain report will be investigated whilst adhering to the digital program for 6- to 12 months, and statistically tests will be performed to find out whether significant differences can be seen over time.
Hip and Knee Scores
Hip OsteoarthritisKnee OsteoarthritisPatient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) are currently used for evaluating orthopaedic procedures. Nevertheless, there is no consensus in the different studies, making them difficult to compare . The score mapping (or cross walk) is a statistical model for estimating a score associated with an unmeasured score. Moreover , Minimal clinically important differences (MCID) is the smallest change in a treatment outcome that a patient would identify as important. The MCID is also not clearly identified for the French population for the hip and knee orthopaedic scores.
Correlation of the Inflammatory Parameters With Pain and Radiological Findings in Coxarthrosis
OsteoarthritisHip2 moreOsteoarthritis (OA) is a functional disease with joint degeneration with subchondral and periosteal lesions. Coxarthrosis (or hip osteoarthritis) is an important cause of disability, especially in the advanced age group.Although hip osteoarthritis is often thought to be a non-inflammatory pathology, recent studies have shown that joint degeneration is correlated with the production of inflammatory factors and cartilage destroying enzymes. There are very few studies evaluating the correlation of Neutrophil lymphocyte ratio, monocyte lymphocyte ratio and Platelet lymphocyte ratio with inflammatory parameters CRP and ESR levels in hip osteoarthritis and its relation with the staging of hip osteoatritis.
