Knee OsteoarthritisThis is a follow-up study to investigate the long-term safety and explore efficacy of SMUP-IA-01, for the treatment of Knee Osteoarthritis. Subjects who participated in and completed the initial stage of the Phase I trial (NCT04037345 ) will be followed-up until 60 months.

Osteo Arthritis KneeThe purpose of this study is to investigate the safety and effectiveness of bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC) in patients with moderate to severe osteoarthritis of the knee. BMAC provides a rich source of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and is a stem cell-based therapy that has been reported to preserve or improve the structure of joints. The Angel System is the device used in this study to concentrate bone marrow from the patient and is intended to separate a mixture of blood and bone marrow and collect plasma rich platelets preoperative to a surgical procedure. The goal of this study is to identify whether BMAC can be an effective and safe treatment for patients with osteoarthritis of the knee.

Knee OsteoarthritisArthrogenic Muscle InhibitionsThe study aims at evaluating the effects of one session of Action Observation Training (AOT) and Motor Imagery (MI) on arthrogenic muscle inhibition (AMI) of the quadriceps (QF) in subjects with end-stage gonarthrosis. 30 patients with end-stage knee osteoarthritis were enrolled. Patients were randomized in two groups (experimental group and control group). Experimental group performed one 6-minutes AOT and MI session with motor content of concentric and isometric QF contractions, whereas control group underwent a 6-minute sham AOT and MI session. Every patient was evaluated to assess the percentage of AMI on the QF before (T0) and after (T1) the treatment following the gold standard Twitch Interpolated Technique.

Effect of Structured Exercise in Patients With Knee Osteoarthritis
OsteoarthritisKnee1 moreThe aim of this randomized controlled trial is to evaluate the effect of Nordic walking and inspiratory muscle training (IMT) on cardiopulmonary function in patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA). Mild-to-moderate knee OA patients are randomly allocated into Experimental group (Nordic walking plus routine management) or Control group (Routine management). While End-stage knee OA patients are randomly allocated into Experimental group (IMT plus pre-operative rehabilitation exercise) or Control group (Pre-operative rehabilitation exercise). Participants are invited to undergo two assessments, including baseline assessment, post-intervention assessment. Researchers will compare two groups to see if the cardiopulmonary function can be improved after intervention.

OsteoarthritisKneeThe goal of this clinical trial is to pharmacologically evaluate the effects of culturued allogeneic umbilical cord blood-derived mesenchymal stromal stem cell (UCB-MSCs) in the treatment of end-stage knee osteoarthritis (Kellgren-Lawrence grade 4) with the analysis of soluble biomarkers and expression of key genes, as well as the evaluation of clinical outcomes with patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) and recording of potential complications. Patients will be randomized in the intervention and control groups. In both groups, the knee aspiration will be performed 4-6 weeks prior to the knee arthroplasty to analyse baseline synovial fluid characteristics. The intervention group will receive the injection of UCB-MSCs. All patients will complete PROMs questionnaires and maintain a pain diary on visual analogue scale (VAS) at home until the surgery. On the day of admission to hospital for knee arthroplasty, the same questionnaires will be administered again. During the operative procedures, the samples of synovial fluid, synovial membrane and resected cartilage will be obtained and analysed afterwards. It is anticipated that the study results will contribute to elucidate the mechanisms of action of MSCs in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis.
