Measured vs Navigated Techniques in Total Hip Arthroplasty

OsteoarthritisHip

Accurate reconstruction of the native hip parameters following total hip arthroplasty is associated with improved outcome. In order to improve ability for optimum reconstruction, 3-D templating software can be utilized that provide detailed information regarding native anatomy. In order to achieve reconstruction within acceptable parameters as per pre-operative plan, some surgeons propose the use of intra-operative devices that measure component orientation and joint reconstruction ("Measured-THA"), whilst others propose the use of navigation tools ("Navigation-THA). Both techniques have shown superiority compared to the most commonly used "freehand" technique, but no prior study has assessed for superiority between these 2 techniques. Furthermore, to-date assessment of post-operative reconstruction has not been tested in detail as post-THA assessments are based on radiographs which provide incomplete, 2-dimensional, assessments and are lacking the important axial plane reconstruction parameters. The aims of this prospective, randomized, trial are to 1. appraise the ability to achieve the pre-operative 3-D plan (as per FormusLab) through a comparison of pre-op plan to post-operative reconstruction; 2. compare ability to accurately reconstruct hip following THA between "navigated-" (IntelliJoint®) and "measured-" techniques; and in doing so it will also 3. assess the accuracy of the intra-operative assessments of reconstruction through a comparison of objective (i.e. measured) intra-operative assessments with the post-operative reconstructions achieved.

Clinical Phenotypes in Persons With Hip Osteoarthritis and Prognostic Factors for Outcome After...

Hip OsteoarthritisTotal Hip Arthroplasty

This prospective longitudinal cohort study aims (1) to identify clinical phenotypes in persons with hip osteoarthritis and after total hip arthroplasty, and (2) to identify prognostic factors for outcomes after total hip arthroplasty.

ATI Evidence-based Guide Investigating Clinical Services

Spine OsteoarthritisShoulder Impingement Syndrome6 more

The investigators goal is to provide a mechanism that allows for a better understanding of patient outcomes following rehabilitation. This includes functional outcomes measured by standardized and validated tools from the published literature. It incorporates comorbidities and patient demographic characteristics. It includes measures of general health as well along with activities of daily living and behavioral health aspects. Measures of quality and satisfaction and use of Net Promoter Scores also are included. All of these components come together to form a remarkably comprehensive picture of patients and their associated outcomes. This is a unique milestone in rehabilitative care and will act to inform and direct evidence-based approaches and treatment guidelines. Data are collected via the investigators proprietary electronic medical record system and are synthetic to the clinical process-that is, the data are collected in real-time with patients and the scores are immediately provided to the treating therapist as well as archived for later Registry and scientific use. Subsequent reporting can be risk adjusted to any variable collected which yields robust insights as to idiopathic patient conditions. However, no PHI information will be available.

Study of Parameters of Osteosarcopenia in Patients With Hip Fracture

Osteoporotic Fracture of FemurOsteoarthritis1 more

The study aims to assess the adequacy of a set of clinical and laboratory investigations for identifying the osteosarcopenia status in patients undergoing a hip replacement for a fragility fracture of the femoral neck. The control group will consist of patients undergoing a hip replacement for osteoarthritis, as the decrease in muscle function and bone quality is less severe in this condition than in osteoporosis.

Comparison of Clinical Results of Two Cementless Femoral Stem

OsteoarthritisHip

In the present study, two types of cementless femoral stem- UTS Stem and UTF-reduced Stem- were utilized in total hip arthroplasty. Due to the design for proximal femur fixation, both femoral stems could prevent stress shielding around the implant, further preventing osteolysis. The difference between both femoral stems is the length, in which UTS Stem is 20% shorter than UTF-reduced Stem. The clinical outcomes of both femoral stems will be compared. Both femoral stems are expected to have equally good radiologic outcome and clinical performance.

Outcomes During Digitally Delivered Osteoarthritis Treatment

Health-related Quality of LifePain5 more

Objectives: To examine changes in health-related quality of life (HRQL), pain and function among patients with knee or hip osteoarthritis (OA) participating in digitally delivered exercise and education treatment for up to 12 or 24 month. Design: An observational longitudinal and repeated cross-sectional cohort study. Investigators will include participants who have participated in the digitally delivered exercise and education treatment program Joint Academy® for 3, 6 , 9 , 12 and if enough patients also for 24 month. Investigators will analyze both cross-sectional samples at each time point and a longitudinal sample that have participated for at least 12 month, with at least one follow-up in between. Outcomes: Investigators will analyze HRQL with EQ-5D-5L, pain with Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) 0-10 (best to worst) and function with 30-sec chair stand test (CST) at baseline and at 3, 6, 9,12 and if possible 24 months during the treatment. Main outcome will be change in level in EQ-5D-5L dimensions. We will also analyze minimally clinical important changes (improved or not) and mean changes in EQ-5D-5L index score, pain and 30-sec chair stand test (CST). Logistic regression models and linear mixed models will be used for analysis. Analyses will be performed for repeated cross-sectional samples and a longitudinal sample.

Autologous Adipose Tissue-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells (AdMSCs) for Osteoarthritis

OsteoarthritisKnee3 more

This is a phase 2 open-label, 6 arms (1 study group and 1 control group for each joint category), randomized control group clinical study with 300 subjects diagnosed with osteoarthritis of knees (n=100), hips (n=100) and shoulders (n=100). The study subjects will be evaluated for disease-associated severity according to symptoms, such as pain, mobility, daily active life, and functions using arthritis society established specific measurement tools related to the joints (KOOS and KSS for OA-knees: HOOS and HHS for OA-hips and ASES and CSS for OA-shoulders).

Non-invasive Evaluation of Upper and Lower Body Function With Showmotion

OsteoarthritisHip4 more

It is very important to understand joint and body kinematics and muscles activity in clinical settings, which is relevant to identify issues related to the spine, the upper and lower limbs due to injury. In this study, the investigators will use an innovative platform, Showmotion to establish baseline of shoulder, hip, knee and spine kinematics and muscles activity from 60 healthy volunteers.

Post Market Clinical Follow-up of Dual-mobility Acetabular Cup EUROSCUP MOBILE

Hip ArthropathyHip Osteoarthritis4 more

EUROSCUP MOBILE is intended for use in primary and revision total hip replacement surgery. Hip replacement is intended to provide increased patient mobility and reduce pain by replacing the damages hip joint articulation in patients where there is evidence of sufficient sound bone to seat and support the components. As part of post market vigilance, EUROS will collect data on EUROSCUP MOBILE performances and safety
