Evaluating the Efficacy of Lateral Heel Wedges of Osteoarthritis of the Knee

Knee Osteoarthritis

This study is looking at the efficacy of a sloped insole in patients with knee osteoarthritis. Regularly wearing a sloped insole over the course of one year will result in a wider joint space by x-ray in 60% of the subjects, a significant decrease in knee pain, decreased use of over the counter analgesics, and a clinically important improvement in the Womac pain and stiffness scale.

The Right Treatment for the Right Patient at the Right Time. A Study Following 5,000 Patients With...

Knee Osteoarthritis

The treatment that patients with knee OA are offered varies largely. There is a need for more evidence-based individualized guidance to treatment choice for knee osteoarthritis. This study will register and evaluate the course and outcome of treatment in 5,000 patients with knee osteoarthritis. The understanding of knee OA treatment will advance in three ways: Firstly, by describing the different treatment pathways that are currently being used for knee OA. Secondly, by identifying wich individual factors that may impact the outcome of the treatment course. And finally, by conducting the economic burden related to different treatment modalities.

MAKO Total Knee Artroplasty

OsteoarthritisKnee

The purpose of this study is to determine the early clinical and radiographic outcomes of robotically assisted total knee arthroplasty with the MAKO surgical robot using the Triathlon knee system. Results of this study will be compared to those of a previously published cohort of patients from this institution who underwent TKA using non-robotic, manual instruments. MAKO TKA patients will be given Fitbits and the Focus Motion Knee Brace to capture the data listed in attachment section. The results of this data will be compared to the control group to see if there is or there is not a difference in clinical outcomes with patients receiving Total knee surgery using the MAKO surgical robot versus those who got Total knee surgery without the MAKO robot.

The Halland Osteoarthritis Cohort

OsteoarthritisKnee2 more

Osteoarthritis is the most common musculoskeletal disease and is characterized by cartilage destruction, osteophyte formation, subchondral bone sclerosis and cysts. Modern treatment strategies, as well as preventive measures, include early detection and knowledge of the early course of the disease. This includes how stress patterns, physical activity, impaired function and metabolic changes and other comorbidities affect development and possible associations with osteoarthritis. The overall objective was to study the early development of osteoarthritis of the knee and its association with hand- and general osteoarthritis, metabolic diseases, biomarkers, long-term pain, physical function and stress patterns
