Chronic knee osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the most common diseases with increasing prevalence in advanced age. Knee OA results in movement restriction, sleep disturbance, and disability. Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is employed often in the symptomatic treatment of knee OA. It has been estimated that 3.4 million TKAs will be performed in the year 2030 in the United States alone. Many studies report rewarding outcomes for patients, but other research shows there are many patients that remain dissatisfied post-arthroplasty. The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether genicular radiofrequency ablation can relieve chronic post-arthroplasty knee pain.

The aim of the project is to investigate effects of medical exercise therapy (MET) on patients with knee osteoarthritis. MET is a common physical therapy intervention, and the project aim to strengthen the evidence of this intervention. An experimental cohort design is chosen, and 20 participants will be followed for 6 months. Assessments will be clinical tests, questionnaires and accelerometer measurements before, during, and after a 3 month period of exercise (3 days per week) with a physical therapist. The project will answer if a 3 month physical therapy intervention using MET causes changes in pain level, function and activity level for patients with knee osteoarthritis. In addition, it will investigate whether a single global endurance workout for 30 minutes will have an effect on pain level for these patients

A randomised, double blind, placebo-controlled, parallel group, and single-centre trial investigating the effect of liraglutide on body weight and pain in overweight or obese patients with knee osteoarthritis. Patients will be subjected to a run-in diet intervention phase (week -8 to 0) including a low-calorie diet and dietetic counselling. At week 0 patients will be randomised to receive either liraglutide 3 mg or liraglutide 3 mg placebo as an add-on to dietetic guidance on re-introducing regular foods and a focus on continued motivation to engage in a healthy lifestyle.

The study schedule consists of a Screening Period (up to 14 days), a blinded 4- week Titration-to-Effect Period with weekly visits, a blinded 4-week Maintenance Treatment Period at the optimal dose level determined for each patient, and a 1-week Follow-up Period. Eligible patients will be randomized to receive either CR845 or placebo in a 2:1 ratio. Every patient will be started on a 1-mg dose of CR845 or matching placebo. During the post-randomization Titration-to-Effect period, the dose of study drug may be increased to 2.5 mg or 5 mg in a double-blind fashion. Patients may know their dose is being changed but will not know whether they were randomization to active study drug or placebo. Approximately 330 patients will be enrolled in this study.

BACKGROUND: Despite the prevalence of patellofemoral ostearthritis (OA), this joint has received relatively little attention in the OA literature and there are few treatment options for individuals with patellofemoral OA. Patellar misalignment is associated with radiographic progression patellofemoral OA and symptoms and in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), to cartilage loss measurements and bone marrow lesions. The hypothesis is that the correction of the patella disorder using strategies such as bracing or adhesive bandages can handle the symptoms and progression of OA. OBJECTIVE: To compare the effect of a brace designed to stabilize the patellofemoral joint compared with a neoprene sleeve with kneecap opening in patients with patellofemoral OA. METHODS: Fifty-two patients with patellofemoral OA and co-morbidities (Two or more of: overweight or obesity, hyperglycemia, dyslipidemia, hyperuricemia, high blood pressure) will be divided into two groups according to the knee brace that will receive: Functional Bracing patellofemoral (group 1) and neoprene knee sleeve with patella opening (group 2). Both groups will be oriented on the clinical treatment of osteoarthritis and metabolic syndrome and asked to do daily exercises in addition to reporting the daily consumption of drugs a month before placing the orthotics up to three months after placing it. They will be evaluated with the questionnaires WOMAC and Lequesne, and asked to perform the five-times-sit-to-stand-test, Timed-up-and-go (TUG) and the six-minute walk test in the moments immediately prior to placement of the brace, with one, three and after 12 months bracing.

The purpose of this study is to assess the efficacy of a 12-week low-load neuromuscular electrical stimulation with volitional contraction (NMES-VC) training program to improve quadriceps strength and activation, while not adversely affecting knee-related pain, activities of daily living or quality of life in women with knee pain. The primary outcome will be change in maximal isokinetic knee extensor torque. The investigators will test the following hypotheses. In comparison with low-load (40%) resistance training without electrical stimulation, a 12-week NMES-VC training program will: Hypothesis 1: Increase maximal isokinetic knee extensor torque Secondary questions and response variables Hypothesis 2: Not adversely affect knee pain or quality of life, assessed by the Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) questionnaire Additional hypotheses in women with risk factors for incident symptomatic or progressive KOA: Determine the extent to which NMES-VC-enhanced low-intensity resistance training increases quadriceps muscle rate of force development Determine the extent to which NMES-VC enhanced low-intensity exercise is tolerated (using numeric rating scale survey "level of pain you experienced during the hybrid training or 40% isokinetic exercise") Determine the extent to which NMES-VC-enhanced low-intensity resistance training increases physical function (20m walk, chair stand)
