Study of Burosumab (KRN23) in Adults With Tumor-Induced Osteomalacia (TIO) or Epidermal Nevus Syndrome...
Tumor Induced Osteomalacia (TIO)Epidermal Nevus Syndrome (ENS)The primary objectives of this study are to evaluate the effect of burosumab treatment on: Increasing serum phosphorus levels in adults with TIO or ENS-associated osteomalacia Improvement in TIO/ENS-associated osteomalacia as determined by osteoid thickness (O.Th), osteoid surface/bone surface (OS/BS), osteoid volume/bone volume (OV/BV) and mineralization lag time (MLt).
A Study of KRN23 in Adult and Pediatric Patients With X-linked Hypophosphatemic Rickets/Osteomalacia...
XLHBefore switching to the post-marketing study: Assess the efficacy and safety of KRN23 administered subcutaneously once every 4 or 2 weeks in adult or children with XLH After switching to the post-marketing study: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of KRN23, which was switched from the investigational product to the post-marketing investigational product, at the approved dose and dosing regimen in subjects who continued treatment
A Study of KRN23 in Subjects With X-linked Hypophosphatemic Rickets/Osteomalacia
X-linked Hypophosphatemic Rickets/OsteomalaciaThe objective of this study is to assess the safety and tolerability of KRN23 after a single subcutaneous (SC) administration in subjects with X-linked hypophosphatemic rickets/osteomalacia (XLH) in Japan or Korea.
A Study of KRN23 in Subjects With Tumor-Induced Osteomalacia or Epidermal Nevus Syndrome
Tumor-Induced Osteomalacia or Epidermal Nevus SyndromeBefore switching to the post-marketing study: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of KRN23 after its 144-week once every 4 weeks (Q4W) repeated SC administration to Japanese and Korean patients with TIO or ENS by a multicenter, open-label, intraindividual dose adjustment study. After switching to the post-marketing study: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of KRN23, which is switched from the investigational product to the post-marketing investigational product, at the approved dose and dosing regimen in subjects who continue treatment after the marketing approval of KRN23 in Japan.
Dental Implants Rehabilitation in Patients With Vitamin D3 Imbalance
Tooth LossVitamin D3 Deficiency1 moreInterventional retrospective prospective randomized clinical trial (RCT) in parallel groups. The sample size is 384 patients with loss of teeth and vitamin D imbalance. All patients will undergo or underwent dental implantation after additional investigations which reveal vitamin D imbalance (<30 ng/ml or <75 nmol/l). The 1 group will include 192 patients who will be or were operated on with dental implants after stabilization of vitamin D level with a help of an endocrinologist. The 2 group will include 192 patients who will be or were operated on during the treatment of vitamin D imbalance prescribed by the endocrinologist. The possible difference between groups can be considered the change of dental implants survival time and bone resorption level depending on the level of vitamin D and treatment time by the endocrinologist.
Open Label Study of KRN23 on Osteomalacia in Adults With X-linked Hypophosphatemia (XLH)
X-linked HypophosphatemiaThe primary objective of this study is to establish the effect of KRN23 treatment on improvement in XLH-associated osteomalacia as determined by osteoid volume (osteoid volume/bone volume, OV/BV).
Development of a Non-invasive Assessment of Human Bone Quality Using Spatially Offset Raman Spectroscopy...
OsteoarthritisOsteoporosis3 moreIn this study spatially offset Raman spectroscopy (SORS), which allows the collection of Raman spectra through turbid media, is being applied to collect Raman spectra of bone. The principal aim to find ways to use Raman spectroscopy to assess bone quality in vivo.
Vitamin D Status in Males in Jerusalem Area and Its Correlation to Parathyroid Hormone (PTH) Level...
Vitamin D DeficiencySecondary Hyperparathyroidism1 moreBecause of its high sun exposure, Israel was traditionally supposed to be protected from vitamin D deficiency, and the country food products hardly contain vitamin D supplements. However the Jerusalem ultra-Orthodox population, which constitutes a significant fraction of the city population, is at risk of developing vitamin D deficiency due to low sun exposure, as consequence of its dressing code covering most of the body and very limited time of outside activities. The investigators aim is to check whether vitamin D deficiency is found more frequently in the ultra-Orthodox male population in comparison to a non-ultra-Orthodox male population, and to study its eventual consequences. Correlation between vitamin D levels and PTH levels will be examined, according to age and to creatinine levels. Bone mineral density (BMD) will be evaluated in 2 selected subgroups of subjects (with lowest and highest vitamin D levels), and re-evaluated after 6 months of vitamin D supplementation in vitamin D-deficient subjects. An increase in BMD within 6 months would suggest osteomalacia as the main cause of low BMD in these subjects.
Studies of States With Resistance to Vitamin D and Parathyroid Hormone
HypocalcemiaPseudohypoparathyroidism3 morePatients with confirmed or suspected states with resistance to vitamin D or parathyroid hormone (PTH) will be admitted for diagnosis, treatment review with suggestions for modifications to the current or new treatment and for inclusion in other protocols. These states include hypocalcemia, rickets, osteomalacia, pseudohypoparathyroidism. Resistance to a factor is manifested by deficient bioeffect despite high levels of the factor in blood. Patients will be tested with multiple indices of mineral metabolism to establish the diagnosis and examine the spectrum of the underlying disorder. The principal therapies will be combinations of calcium, phosphate, and a vitamin D analog. Selected patients will have localization and surgery to remove a tumor that causes renal wasting of phosphate. Patients will also be considered for entry into other research protocols.
Application of 68Ga-DOTA-TATE and 68Ga-DOTA-JR11 PET/CT in the Diagnosis and Evaluation of TIO
Tumor-Induced OsteomalaciaThis is an open-label whole-body PET/CT study for investigating the value of 68Ga-DOTA-TATE and 68Ga-DOTA-JR11 PET/CT in patients with Tumor-induced osteomalacia.
