ObesityThe purpose of the study is to determine the safety and weight loss when sibutramine is used in overweight and obese subjects.

A Study of the Safety and Effectiveness of Topiramate on Insulin Sensitivity in Overweight or Obese...
ObesityDiabetes Mellitus3 moreThe purpose of this study is to investigate (1) the effect of topiramate on insulin sensitivity in overweight or obese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and (2) the safety of topiramate in type 2 diabetic patients. The study will also investigate the effect of topiramate on body weight, body fat, fat distribution, and metabolic control including both glucose and lipid levels.

Improving Self-Monitoring in Weight Loss With Technology
ObesityOverweightWe propose to conduct a randomized study of standard behavioral weight-loss treatment to test if using an electronic diary with or without tailored feedback will improve adherence to self-monitoring and subsequently improve weight loss. Subjects will be randomly assigned to different methods to self-monitor food and exercise habits: (1) use of the traditional paper diary , (2) use of a personal digital assistant (PDA), or (3) use of a personal digital assistant that also provides daily feedback.

Glycemic Load, Weight Loss and Cardiovascular Disease Risk
OverweightObesityTo investigate the hypothesis that reducing the glycemic load of the diet will improve changes in body composition and cardio-vascular risk factors. The study compares a conventional reduced-fat, high carbohydrate diet with 3 means of reducing glycemic load: changing the carbohydrates to low-GI choices, replacing some of the carbohydrate with protein, or combining both effects to produce the lowest glycemic load.

ObesityMetabolic Syndrome X2 moreThe purpose of this trial is to study the safety, tolerability and efficacy of an almond enriched hypocaloric diet on weight loss and weight maintenance, as well as on established and emerging cardiovascular risk factors in approximately 112 overweight and obese persons.

Post-delivery Maternal-offspring Obesity and Metabolic Risk After a Prepregnancy Weight-loss Intervention...
OverweightObese2 moreThe goal of PrepareD is to examine whether the prepregnancy weight-loss intervention administered during the Prepare trial [NCT02346162] has an influence in the postnatal period. PrepareD is a cohort study (no intervention) that will address new specific aims through one in-person visit with mothers and children, dietary recalls, actigraphy, and the use of medical record weights. The goal is to collect data when the child is 3 years old. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the investigators expanded the data collection window in order to collect data up to when the child is 5 years old. The investigators hypothesize that intervening on women before pregnancy is the key to breaking the multigenerational cycle of obesity.

A Research Study of How NNC0174-0833 Behaves in Chinese Volunteers Who Are Normal Weight, Overweight...
Overweight and ObesityThe aim of this study is to look at how the study medicine behaves in participants body and how it is removed from their body. The study compares three different doses of the study medicine in Chinese healthy men. Participant will either get 0.3 mg, 0.9 mg or 1.8 mg NNC0174-0833 which dose participant get is decided by chance. NNC0174-0833 is a new medicine and has not been approved by the Center for Drug Evaluation. We are testing the study medicine to make a medicine that can help people lose weight. Participant will get 1 injection by a study nurse or doctor at the clinic. The injection will be with a needle in a skin fold in the stomach area. The study will last for about 5 months. But participants participation will last about 2 months. Participant will have 8 clinic visits with the study staff. One of these visits will be a 7-day, 6-night stay. PlayFit Pilot: Encouraging Social Physical Play in the Community
Overweight and ObesityThe investigator is pilot testing the feasibility and impact of a low-cost intervention that uses existing gymnasiums, and therefore has the potential to be replicated across the United States. The intervention, PlayFit, is designed for adults aged 21-50. PlayFit has five key components, intended to overcome the major barriers to physical activity. First, it will assist people in finding others to play with, using the Pick-Up model of designating times to play and making those times known in the community. Second, it will overcome a lack of confidence in physical activity by including games of lower intensity for relatively unfit adults, then building up to moderate and vigorous games. Third, it will require team members of varying ages and genders to encourage intergenerational play. Fourth, it will use modified equipment (e.g., softer, lighter balls) and smaller game space to require less running, so that even relatively unfit people can feel confident participating. Fifth, it will be designed to be led by community volunteers, which will increase its disseminability. AIM - Understand the optimum design for PlayFit. To meet this aim, the investigators will come up with a list of games to play and pilot the games at a gymnasium. The investigators will observe the participants playing the games and have them complete a brief survey.
