Maternal obesity increases risks for the mother and her child. It is crucial to arouse the pregnant and postpartum women´s willingness of change and motivation to take care of their own and their unborn child´s health. Wearable devices can be helpful for weight-management, e.g. in improving participant's self-efficacy in making healthy behavior changes, improving self-awareness, in goal setting and getting feedback. More comprehensive research is required to implement the optimal weight-management intervention for overweight women during pregnancy and the postpartum period and to develop appropriate and feasible implementation strategies to support nurses to deliver interventions in maternity clinics. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the Supporting Lifestyle Change in Obese Pregnant Mothers Through Wearable Internet-of-Things (SLIM) intervention. Secondary aim is to evaluate the implementation of SLIM intervention in maternity care. Intervention was developed based on findings of overweight women and their care givers interview study. The intervention targeting overweight pregnant women to improve their weight-management will be delivered during routine perinatal visits from the first visit to three months after child birth. Interventions core components will be goalsetting, motivational interviewing, feedback and health technology. Health technology includes Oura-ring and ZotCare -application. ZotCare -application combines data from Oura Smart Ring, electronic food diary and it´s also platform for researchers to send e.g. questionnaires and surveys to participants. Oura-smartring is an advanced technology ring that monitors e.g. heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), steps, body temperature and sleep) and a smartphone application that includes data from Oura, and electronic food diary. Data collected with Oura -smartrings will be transmitted to cloud servers via a smartphone. The cloud will be responsible for storing the data and for performing the data preprocessing and analysis methods. Interventions primary outcome will be self-efficacy. Secondary outcomes will be womens weight, depression symptoms, quality of life, pregnancy anxiety, perceived stress, sence of coherence and acceptability, appropriateness and feasibility of Intervention. Data will be collected via Oura smartring, electronic food diary and validated measures: Weight Efficacy Life-Style Questionnaire (WEL), Self-Efficacy for Physical Activity Scale (PASE), six-factor questionnaire (6-FQ), Three Factor Eating Questionnaire (TFEQ-R18), WHOQOL-BREF, Sense of coherence (SOC-13), Pregnancy anxiety (PRAQ-R2), Perceived stress and Edinburgh Postnatal Depression scale (EPDS). Intervention implementation will be evaluated with process evaluation. Data will be collected from public health nurses working in maternity clinics using focus group interviews and workshops.

Energy regulation in humans is controlled through complicated mechanisms involving among others hormones secreted from different tissues, such as gut, muscle and adipose tissue. Specifically, the hormonal secretion after nutrient intake mediates the metabolic response in order to maintain energy balance. Proglucagon-derived hormones and especially GLP-1 and glucagon are significantly affected by nutrient intake and by energy balance. Despite the extensive information about GLP-1 and glucagon, it remains unclear whether other proglucagon-derived hormones are regulated by nutrition or by energy status i.e. obesity or type 2 diabetes. Similarly, secretion of activins and follistatins, which are both affecting muscle metabolism-growth and consequently energy homeostasis, are reduced in energy deprivation states. However, we do not know whether the circulating profile of these hormones is affected acutely by nutrient intake and whether these changes have acute effects on muscle metabolism. We propose to conduct a non-blinded interventional study evaluating the effects of oral or intravenous glucose intake in the circulating levels of proglucagon-derived hormones, activin A, activin B, follistatin, follistatin-like 3.

Green Tea Supplementation, Fat Oxidation and Body Composition in Overweight Individuals

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of green tea extract (GTE) on fat oxidation, body composition and exercise performance in overweight individuals. The study will be conducted under laboratory conditions following an 8 week supplemental period. Participants will be required to attend the laboratory for a pre-screening/familiarisation trial followed by assessments at week 0 (baseline), week 2, 4 and 8. Across the intervention, participants will maintain habitual dietary intake and follow a prescribed exercise programme. Additionally participants will be randomised to either a placebo, green tea extract or GTE with antioxidant supplementation. It is hypothesised that the addition of antioxidants with GTE will enhance fat oxidation in overweight individuals more than GTE or placebo. It is further hypothesised that such improvements in fat oxidation due to GTE will lead to improvements in both body composition variables and submaximal exercise performance (metabolic efficiency) in overweight, but otherwise healthy persons.

Besides, polyphenols have reported with their potent antioxidant effect and their implication lowering the vardiovascular risk.

Obesity is a major global health issue and a primary risk factor for metabolic-related disorders. While physical inactivity is one of the main contributors to obesity, it is a modifiable risk factor with exercise training as an established, non-pharmacological treatment to prevent the onset of metabolic-related disorders, including obesity. Exposure to hypoxia via normobaric hypoxia (simulated altitude via reduced inspired oxygen fraction), termed hypoxic conditioning, in combination with exercise has been increasingly shown in the last decade to enhance blood glucose regulation and decrease body mass index, providing a feasible strategy to treat obesity. Nonetheless, findings from studies investigating the potential for a hypoxic environment to augment the exercise training response and subsequent metabolic health are equivocal. Notably, there is a paucity of information regarding the optimal combination of exercise variables and hypoxic load (i.e. level of hypoxia) to enable an individualized and safe practice of exercising in a hypoxic environment. In the present randomized, single-blind, cross-over study, the investigators will investigate the effects of single-bout of exercise under normoxia (FiO2, 20.9%), moderate (FiO2, 16.5%) and high normobaric hypoxic conditions (FiO2, 14.8%) (60-min cycling session at 90% LT) on 2h OGTT and 24h-glucose level in individuals with overweight. The investigators hypothesize that exercise in combination with hypoxia improves glucose homeostasis in individuals with overweight.

This study was a randomized, double-blind controlled protocol in children overweight aged 6-11 years. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of consuming fermented milk products containing Lactobacillus casei strain Shirota (LcS), as a probiotic enriched with prebiotic fructans from A. salmiana or inulin-like standard commercial prebiotic to improve the gut microbiota modulation. After providing detailed information, written informed consent was obtained from parents and written and oral assent from participants before the initial test day. Children were eligible for inclusion in the trial if they were overweight according to the World Health Organization (≥85th body mass index (BMI) percentile for overweight). The trial took place in three full-time elementary schools in San Luis Potosí, México, and the screening of the prospective participants took place up to 1 week prior to the randomization. Children were evaluated over a 6-week intervention period receiving different fermented milk products

Aim: In this study, it was aimed to determine the effect of health education given to overweight university students based on the Transtheoretic Model (TTM) on nutrition and physical activity behaviors. Materials and Methods: The research was conducted in a randomized controlled experimental design. The sample of the study consisted of 54 students, 27 of which were in the experimental group and 27 in the control group, who met the inclusion criteria between October 2021 and November 2021. Students were divided into nutrition and exercise change stages groups according to TTM. The students in the experimental group were given one-on-one health education in accordance with the TTM change stages, using the online method. In the study, data were collected using the Sociodemographic Form, Nutrition and Exercise Stage Determination Form according to TTM, Nutrition Change Processes Scale (NCPS) and Exercise Change Processes Scale (ECPS). Chi-square test and t test for dependent and independent groups were used in the analysis of the data obtained. Statistical significance level was accepted as p<0.05.

A Study to Compare Two Different Forms of PF-07081532 in Adults Who Are Overweight or Obese

The purpose of this study is to compare the amount of PF-07081532 in blood after taking two different forms of PF-07081532. This study is seeking participants who are at least 18 years of age and are overweight and/or obese. All study participants will receive a total of 2 single doses of this study medication in either form. Form A consists of a PF-07081532 20 mg immediate release tablet and a PF-07081532 60 mg immediate release tablet. Form B consists of a PF-07081532 80 mg immediate release tablet. Each single dose will be separated by a minimum of 6 days. The amount of PF-07081532 in the blood for 4 days after taking each single dose will be compared between the two different formulations of PF-07081532. The total time that participants will take part in this study is about 70 days. The first visit is a screening visit to ensure that participants are appropriately qualified for the study. This will occur up to 28 days before the first single dose. Participants will be admitted into the clinic one day prior to the first single dose and will remain in the clinic for a total of 11 days. The study team will phone the participants 28 to 35 days after the last dose of study medication.

This study evaluates the impact of increased intake of fruits and vegetables and whole grains on markers of inflammation and gut microbial composition. The treatment groups are 3 servings of whole grain per day; 5 servings of fruits and vegetables per day; and a control (3 servings of refined grains per day provided).
