FReedom From Emotional Eating
Overweight and ObesityEmotional EatingThe current study was a pilot study examining a novel treatment for weight loss and emotional eating. The intervention is a group-based approach, and it includes a focus on teaching emotion regulation skills from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and traditional behavioral weight loss techniques. The goal of the study was to develop and refine the treatment protocol. Additional goals of the study were to evaluate feasibility and acceptability, to see whether the intervention could be administered and whether participants like the treatment and believe it helps them. Changes in weight and emotional eating from baseline to post-treatment will also be measured.
Improving the Experience of Exercise Among Individuals With Internalized Weight Bias Using Acceptance-based...
Overweight and ObesityThe goal of this study is to test whether an acceptance based intervention can modify the relationship between heart rate and perceived exertion/negative during physical activity among individuals who have a high degree of internalized weight bias.
Effect of High Intensity Aerobic & Resistance Interval Training on Body Composition, Visceral Adiposity...
ObesityThe obesity epidemic, predisposing to cardio-metabolic diseases, has increased two-folds over the last decade with a global alarming cost of obesity-associated illnesses, thus representing a grave peril for the survival of public health care systems. It is need of the time to develop evidence-based, time-efficient and cost-effective strategies to prevent and manage obesity. This study would compare the effects of 2 types of exercise regimes providing data on their beneficial effects on body composition and myocardial function along with reducing the central adiposity. This study may also be used as a novel intervention strategy for primary prevention of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases by modification of a major risk factor i.e. obesity in Pakistani population, consequently reducing the burden of morbidity and mortality from cardiometabolic diseases.

The Effect of GLP-1 Agonists Versus OCs on Reproductive Disorders and Cardiovascular Risks in Overweight...
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)Overweight1 morePolycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a health problem that affects one in 10 women of childbearing age, which is usually characterized by hormonal imbalance and metabolism problems such as hyperandrogenism and obesity. Diane 35 pills are classified as oral contraceptives, which effectively reduces circulating androgens and are treatment for hyperandrogenism caused androgenic skin symptoms and irregular menstrual cycles. GLP-1 Receptor Agonist(e.g. exenatide, liraglutide) have the effects of lowering blood sugar and weight control by inhibiting of gastric emptying and reducing food intake. This study aims to evaluate the effect of metformin-GLP-1 Receptor agonist combination versus metformin-Diane-35 combination treatment on lipid metabolism and cardiovascular risks in overweight polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) patients.
Physical Activity Consultation in the Management of Adolescent Overweight
OverweightThe prevalence of pediatric obesity makes this condition a worldwide public health concern. Physical Activity (PA) is recognized as having many health benefits, many of them related to obesity and its comorbidities. Despite of all the efforts, the majority of the overweight children/adolescents still present low levels of PA and high levels of sedentary behaviors. Thus, it seems that the greatest challenge is to influence behavior change in order to increase PA exposure in this population. PA consultation can be a cost-effective way of enhancing PA and improve weight status among overweight children. The main objective of this study is to analyze if the inclusion of a PA consultation in a multidisciplinary program for the management of adolescent overweight improves body mass index (BMI) z-score, PA levels and sedentary behavior outcomes at six and twelve months, compared to those attending only the Pediatric and the Dietetic consultations. This study was designed as a non-randomized, controlled clinical trial with six months duration and follow-up at the 12th month, that will include overweight adolescents (BMI ≥ p85) aged 12 to 17, attending the Clinic for the first time, and accepted to be enrolled. Those with (i) major pathologies (other than obesity or its related comorbidities), (ii) inability to perform regular PA, (iii) mental disorders, (iv) smoking habits, (v) under any kind of prescription (other than antihypertensives or metformin), or (vi) being involved in another weight loss program will be excluded. According to the sample size calculation, we expect to recruit 129 participants that will be allocated in three groups by consecutive sampling: (i) control group - standard care (Pediatric and Dietitian consultations); (ii) intervention group I - standard care plus PA consultation; (iii) intervention group II - 2 weekly exercise sessions additionally to the standard care and PA consultations..
Translational Study for Obesity Management in Mexican Adults Using the "Group Lifestyle Balance...
ObesityOverweightObesity is the main modifiable risk factor for the development of chronic diseases in Mexico. Several randomized controlled trials have shown that intensive lifestyle programs are efficacious for the management of obesity. These programs include frequent sessions (14 or more contacts in the first 6 months) focused on diet and physical activity and use a behavior change protocol. In Mexico most primary care clinics and public hospitals apply traditional treatments for obesity management, which have limited effect on weight loss. This study would provide scientific evidence for an effective model for obesity management. Objective. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the "Group Lifestyle Balance Program" for overweight and obesity management in adults, in primary care clinics and public hospitals from Sonora. This is a translational clinical study. Healthcare providers from the participating clinics will be trained with the Group Lifestyle Balance Program before its implementation. The primary outcome measurement is the change in body weight from baseline to 6 months and 12 months. Changes in body mass index, waist circumference, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, depression, quality of life and stress scales will be measured in patients receiving the program before and 6 and 12 months after starting the program. Additionally, biochemical parameters (fasting glucose, total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, triglycerides, fasting insulin, Homeostatic Model Assessment- Insulin Resistance (HOMA-IR) and liver enzymes [Aspartate transaminase (AST), Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT)] will be evaluated from baseline to 12 months.
Taichi for Overweight/Obese Adolescent and Young Women With Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)
Polycystic Ovary SyndromeThe present study is a randomized pilot study, overweight/obese adolescent and young PCOS subjects will be assigned into two groups: Taichi arm and control arm. Hormonal profile and metabolic profile will be determined.
A Study to Evaluate AZP531 in Healthy Volunteers, Overweight/Obese Volunteers and Patients With...
Type 2 Diabetes MellitusObjectives: Primary Objectives To investigate the safety and tolerability of single ascending doses of AZP- 531 in healthy volunteers. To investigate the safety and tolerability of single and multiple ascending doses of AZP-531 in overweight/obese volunteers. To investigate the safety and tolerability of single and multiple ascending doses of AZP-531 in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Secondary Objectives • To determine the plasma pharmacokinetic (PK) profile of AZP-531 after single and multiple doses. Exploratory Objectives • To obtain exploratory data on the effects of AZP-531 on the pharmacodynamic (PD) markers of blood glucose, interstitial glucose, insulin, and plasma acylated ghrelin (AG) and unacylated ghrelin (UAG)
Efficacy of a Web-based Weight Loss Program
OverweightObeseSince overweight and obesity, a risk factor for various diseases, is a prevalent problem in the modern society, it is important to search for new strategies to counteract this. In contrast to in person support, the internet provides a low cost opportunity, which is able to reach a large part of the population. Therefore a web-based weight loss program may be an adequate mean for many people. Now it is hypothesised that a web-based weight loss program is able to support a reduction of body weight and weight-related cardiovascular risk factors effectively and to promote a healthier lifestyle. It is expected that program use, compared to a control group, results in greater reductions in body weight and cardiovascular risk.
