Recognizing Pain Intensity in Alzheimer's Disease
Alzheimer DiseasePain1 moreThe most common form of dementia is Alzheimer's disease, with 900,000 people affected in France in 2015 and a forecast of 1.3 million in 2020. As a consequence of their advanced age, dementia patients often suffer from pain, mainly musculoskeletal or neuropathic pain. However, the exact prevalence of pain in dementia is underestimated. Indeed, several studies indicate that people suffering from dementia report less pain. This phenomenon is all the more true as the stage of dementia is advanced. In addition, people with dementia receive less pain medication than people without cognitive impairment in similarly painful conditions. Hetero-evaluation alone also seems insufficient, with the result that pain is under-treated compared to patients without cognitive impairment. Better pain screening is a major challenge and self-assessment tools should be favoured as a first line of treatment, even for patients with cognitive impairment. suffering from dementia. The investigators propose in this work to evaluate the variation of vegetative parameters that accompany a painful stimulus. These variations can be recorded at the cardiac, vascular, pupillary or skin conductance level.
Effect Of Patient Awareness About Possibility Of Occurrence Of Pain During Propofol Injection On...
Effect of Patient Awareness on Incidence and Severity of Propofol Injection Induced PainPropofol is the most common intravenous (IV) anesthetic agent, used for anesthesia induction and maintenance during surgeries due to its rapid onset and short duration. However, the incidence of propofol injection pain occurs in about 20% to 90% of patients that can decrease patient satisfaction and safety . Awareness of patient about propofol injection pain can affect patient anxiety and stress that will be reflected on incidence and severity of occurance of propofol injection pain. In our study the effect of patient awareness on propofol injection pain will be evaluated after adequate using of the pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapy that have been demonstrated to be effective in attenuating injection pain.
Amniotic Membrane Therapy for Interstitial Cystitis/Painful Bladder Syndrome
Interstitial CystitisPainful Bladder Syndrome1 moreInterstitial cystitis/painful bladder syndrome (IC/PBS) is a clinical syndrome in which patients report symptoms of bladder and/or pelvic pain with pressure and/ or discomfort associated with urinary frequency and urgency. The primary objective of this study is to determine the efficacy of amniotic membrane therapy in patients with interstitial cystitis/painful bladder syndrome (IC/PBS) as defined by clinically-significant improvement in validated symptom questionnaires.
The Efficacy and Safety of Early MSAT on Radiating Pain in the Upper Extremity

Behavioral and Emotional Factors Associated With Pain Severity
Back Pain Lower Back ChronicThe planned research will address the behavioral and emotional factors associated with low back pain rather than a structural and biological cause. It will be determined to what extent the results obtained according to the ICF model are effective on the participation of patients with low back pain in daily activities, and it will become clear whether patients with low back pain should be approached only mechanically in the rehabilitation programs.
Effect of Boswellia Sacra as an Intracanal Medicament on Postoperative Pain Intensity and Bacterial...
InterventionThis research will study the effect of Boswellia Sacra versus calcium hydroxide as an intracanal medicament on postoperative pain intensity measured using numerical rating scale (NRS) and bacterial load reduction reduction determined by bacterial counting using agar culture technique after root canal preparation (CFU/ml) in mandibular premolars with necrotic pulp.
Treatment for Painful Diabetic Neuropathy
Painful Diabetic NeuropathyPainful diabetic neuropathy (pDN) occurs in a subset of diabetic patients, and is characterize by burning, shooting, and electric shock-like pain in the arms and legs. This represents a major health crisis, given the increasing prevalence of pDN and the significant impact it has on quality of life. However, there is limited evidence of effective therapies for pDN pain relief. Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) is a non-invasive form of brain stimulation that may be a promising therapy for pDN. Previous research has shown that rTMS reduces neuropathic pain in pDN (1, 2, 3). While this is promising, it is important to note that rTMS is effective for ~50% of patients with neuropathic pain. (4, 5). Recent advancements in rTMS technology have created the opportunity for remarkable strides in the effectiveness of this potential therapy. This new development called controlled pulse parameter TMS (cTMS) increases the magnitude and longevity of TMS-induced effects. Although not tested in chronic pain, cTMS possess the power to make transformative changes in pDN, potentially yielding greater and widespread improvements in pain. The overarching goal of the proposed research is to assess the effects of a 5-day cTMS stimulation protocol on measures of pain and neurological function in individuals with pDN.
