Diagnostic Accuracy of Matrix Metalloproteinase-8 Test for the Discrimination of Periodontal Health...
PeriodontitisDiagnostic Self EvaluationThe application of point-of-care test with oral fluid-based biomarkers assisting in early-detection of gum disease is highly needed. Recently, a commercially available active Matrix metalloproteinase-8 (aMMP-8) point-of-care test (POCT) for detecting the risk of gum disease has been developed. Currently, there is a paucity of research to assess the performance of aMMP-8 POCT using different oral fluid sampling methods. This study will evaluate the accuracy of aMMP-8 POCT for discriminating periodontal health from disease in saliva and oral rinse. The information obtained from this study may help us understand better which sample is superior for the early detection of gum disease.
Vitamin D Receptor, Interleukin-1A and Interleukin-1B Gene Polymorphisms in Periodontitis
PeriodontitisPolymorphism1 moreBackground: The aim of the study is to find out the prevelance of VDR (rs731236), IL1B (rs1143634) and IL1A (rs1800587)gene polymorphisms in Turkish population and their association with stage III grade B / C periodontitis. Methods: Individuals who were found to be systemically and periodontally healthy (N = 100) after clinical and radiographic examination and who were diagnosed with Stage III Grade B / C periodontitis (N = 100) were included in the study. Gingival index, Plaque index, bleeding on probing, clinical attachment level and pocket depths of the patients were recorded. subjects genotyped for rs731236, rs1143634 and rs1800587 gene polymorphisms with Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction.
Association Study Between Periodontal Disease and Male Infertility
PeriodontitisSub-fertilityThe aim of the present study is to examine the association between fertility parameters and the periodontal status of men attending fertility and in vitro fertilization clinic.
Effect of Lifestyle on Caries and Apical Periodontitis
Apical PeriodontitisCaries3 moreThis study aimed to link lifestyle factors (Mediterranean diet adherence, stress, sleep quality, physical activity) to caries and apical periodontitis in 149 university-based individuals. Data included clinical and radiographic assessments and lifestyle questionnaires. Statistical tests and logistic regression were employed to analyze the relationships between these factors and oral health conditions.
Supportive Periodontal Therapy Under Antiresorptive Therapy
PeriodontitisAntiresorptive DrugsThis observational study investigates the one-point in time and course of clinical periodontal and dental parameters during supportive periodontal therapy in patients under and without antiresorptive medication.
Comparative Evaluation of Different File Systems in Postoperative Pain
PulpitisPeriapical Periodontitis1 morePostoperative pain is a frequent complication associated with root canal treatment. The apical extrusion of irrigant and debris, including bacteria and necrotic tissue, may lead to postoperative pain, periapical inflammation, and flare-ups. The instrumentation technique and the file design may affect the amount of debris extrusion. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of instrumentation techniques on the incidence and intensity of postoperative pain after single-visit root canal treatment.
Snuff Use, Smoking, Periodontitis and Mortality: 30-year Cohort Study From Sweden
Tobacco UsePeriodontitisSmoking and dual using associated with poor periodontal health.
Prevalence and Progression of Periodontitis in Ankylosing Spondylitis
Ankylosing SpondylitisPeriodontitisOur hypotheses on the relationship between periodontitis and AS are as follows; The prevalence of periodontitis is higher in AS patients group than that of non-AS control group Anti-TNF-α therapy would favorably affect the disease course of periodontitis. Based on our hypotheses, the specific objectives of the present proposal are as follows; The primary objective is to compare the prevalence rate of periodontitis between AS patient group and non-AS group. The secondary objectives will be: To observe the carriage rate of P. gingivalis in AS and non-AS groups To identify clinical parameters associated with the severity of periodontitis in AS group. To compare the progression of periodontitis at weeks 12 and 24 between AS and non-AS groups or between AS patients with and without anti-TNF-α treatment
DNA Methylation Profile of the SOCS-1 Gene Promoter in Smokers Patients With Chronic Periodontitis....
Periodontal DiseasesEpigeneticsPeriodontitis is related to host genetics, constitution of the dental biofilm and environmental factors such as smoking. DNA methylation is a mechanism of genetic expression that can inhibit or silence gene expression. In this way several researchers have been dedicated to study the genetic influence on the susceptibility and / or increased risk to periodontal disease. Studies have reported association between several epigenetic biomarkers with periodontal inflammation. Considering the hypothesis that there is an association between smoking and methylation in genes related to periodontal disease, the objective of this study was to verify the DNA methylation pattern in oral epithelial cells of patients with chronic periodontitis (CP) in the promoter of a specific gene involved in the control of inflammation, as suppressor of cytokine signaling (SOCS) 1 in smokers and nonsmokers patients.
Cytokine Regulation of Periradicular Pain in Humans
Chronic Apical Periodontitis of Pulpal OriginThis clinical trial evaluates the role of cytokines in patients needing root canal treatment with diagnosis of necrotic pulp and chronic apical periodontitis
