Chronic PeriodontitisThis is a controlled, randomized, single-blinded, multicenter, prospective clinical study. In addition to the standard periodontal treatment procedure on all teeth that need to be treated, the 4 teeth with the deepest pockets (between 4 and 6 mm) will be randomized to either PERIOSYAL® FILL and oral hygiene or oral hygiene alone. The pocket depth will be measured at six sites around each tooth, and only the deepest pocket sites of each tooth will be taken into account.
Clinical Trial of PeriZone PerioPatch in Subjects With Chronic Periodontitis
Chronic PeriodontitisThe purpose of this study is to determine if a topical, adhesive patch (PeriZone PerioPatch) applied to the gums after a deep tooth cleaning (scaling and root planing) reduces the signs of advanced gum disease (chronic periodontitis) more than the deep tooth cleaning alone. Eighty patients with advanced gum disease will be recruited and treated within this clinical trial. Patients will be evaluated for changes in gum measurements over a 12-week period.
Clinical, Microbiological and Biochemical Effects of the Antimicrobial Photodynamic Therapy
Chronic PeriodontitisThe goal of this study is to determine if patients with chronic periodontitis when undergoing with scaling and root planing (SRP) plus photodynamic therapy in comparison with SRP alone result in improved clinical, microbiological and biochemical outcomes.
Effect of Supragingival Control Versus Supra- and Subgingival Control in the Periodontal Health...
PeriodontitisSeventy patients will be previously treated for moderate-to-severe periodontitis according to their individual needs. Thirty days after completion of periodontal treatment, these patients will be randomized to one of the following groups of periodic preventive maintenance (PPM): G1 - performed only control supragingival; G2 - performed supra and subgingival control (when necessary). The maintenance consultations will be scheduled every 3 months for 24 months. The hypothesis is that the effect of the supragingival control (conducted over 24 months) will be similar to the effect of the supra- and subgingival control combined, above the restoration and progression of periodontitis.
Amoxicillin to Prevent Bacteria and Inflammatory Biomarkers After Intensive Periodontal Therapy...
Chronic PeriodontitisBacteremiaThere are not published studies evaluating the incidence, nature, magnitude and/or duration of bacteremia after periodontal treatment. The pre-surgical antibiotics have been studied particullary over Gram positive bacterial but not over gram negative bacterial and their secondary effects over the systemic pro-inflamation. Objective: to evaluate the efficacy of intensive periodontal therapy and pre-medication with oral amoxicilline on inflammatory bio-markers and the incidence, duration and magnitude of bacteremia in patients with chronic periodontitis.

Symptomatic Periapical PeriodontitisThe aim of this prospective, randomized, placebo controlled study is to evaluate the effect of clindamycin on post-operative pain and swelling in adult patient with symptomatic apical periodontitis.

CHRONIC PERIODONTITISPeriodontal disease is a multifactorial disease caused by mainly bacterial, genetic, immunologically, and environmental factors. Chronic periodontitis, one of the widely prevalent forms of periodontal disease, is characterized by loss of attachment apparatus of the tooth; it can lead to tooth loss. Many non surgical and surgical approaches have been adapted time and again to prevent, intercept, and to treat the various forms of chronic periodontitis. But, these treatment modalities are not approachable by all individuals, because of the various factors such as: low socioeconomic status, illiteracy, high cost of the treatment, no availability of easy and uncomplicated treatment nearby etc. Considering these factors, we are still in need of preventive, practical, and affordable treatment options specially for the population of underdeveloped and developing countries.
