The aim of this study is to evaluate clinically and radiographically soft tissue around single-implant crowns and peri-implant bone resorption respectively by using zirconia implants or titanium implants in horizontally deficient partially edentulous ridges.

Earlier, it was believed that successful regeneration cannot be achieved once tooth has become infected. Randomized Controlled Trial: to investigate the feasibility of the usage of a mobile dental application in the self-administration of plaque control in a two (2) parallel arm study with 52 subjects (n = 52). The study will take place over 2 visits (within 35 days): Visit 1 and 2. Prospective Open Cohort Study: Patients referred to the Periodontology Department will be invited to participate in the study during the Oral Hygiene Phase. Routine clinical indices will be recorded at Visit 1 and Visit 2 before active non-surgical periodontal treatment commences.

In the investigators previous preclinical research, +the investigators fabricated periodontal ligament stem cell (PDLSC) pellets and cell sheet fragment and applied them in the periodontal defect area for tissue regeneration and periodontitis treatment. And the investigators carried out a comprehensive study of the PDLSC allograft. The host responses and implanted cell fates were recorded. After the scientific investigation of the preclinical study, the investigators designed the preliminary clinical trial of PDLSC cell sheet for the chronic periodontitis therapy in the aims to test the PDLSC fates and explore one ideal transplantation mode.

Periodontitis patients with uncontrolled type 2 diabetes mellitus will receive non-surgical periodontal treatment and then be supplemented with daily 500 mg vitamin C (test group) or placebo (control group) for 2 months. Clinical parameters will be retrieved at baseline, at the end of week 4 and at the end of week 8.
