Lactate Increase in Peripheral Artery Disease
Peripheral Artery DiseaseClaudication1 moreTo our knowledge, the measurement of the transcutaneous oxygen pressure during walking is the only continuous method that estimates the importance of ischemia, bilaterally and segment of limb by segment of limb. The determination of the lactates concentration, with micro method from earlobe sampling, is very widely validated in physiology and exercise physiopathology; and it is widely used, by laboratories, for exercise investigation in athletes. We use it in routine to evaluate the presence of functional limitation during tcpO2 tests on a treadmill. The present study hypothesises a significant relationship between lactatemia variation (difference between lactatemia after 3 minutes of recovery from walking and the value at rest) and tcpO2 "decrease from rest of oxygen pressure (DROP) values for patients with peripheral artery disease (PAD).
Preoperative Continuous Sciatic Perineural Analgesia in Patients Undergoing Lower Limb Revascularization...
Ischemic LegPeripheral Vascular DiseaseThis study evaluates the pain score numerical rating, after sciatic analgesic continuous block, in patients with ischemic pain before surgery of limb revascularization. All patients received those blocks to control ischemic severe pain.
Education and Management of PAD in Primary Care
Peripheral Arterial DiseasePeripheral arterial disease (PAD) occurs when the vessels carrying blood to the legs become narrowed or blocked. It affects 1 in 5 people aged over 60 and are at risk of losing their leg, developing a heart attack or stroke, or die early. Early symptoms of peripheral arterial disease (PAD) include aching in the legs when walking which may not be recognised by healthcare professional. Our research has shown that knowledge and recognition of PAD is poor in healthcare professionals and trainees. There appears to be little time provided within healthcare professional training for PAD. To improve PAD recognition/management, the investigators want to identify the current level of training given to healthcare professionals; opinion towards PAD related to their training and how they prefer to receive training. With the information gained from this research, the development of an educational training package for GPs, practice nurses and their trainees to improve recognition of PAD is anticipated.
Observational Study to Assess Transradial Access for Treatment in the Lower Extremities.
Peripheral Arterial DiseaseThis study is designed to collect data on the complication rates and procedural success of using a transradial access approach to treat peripheral lesions in the lower extremities of a real world population.
Comparison of Lower Limb Endovascular Interventions With and Without the EndoNaut Workstation
Peripheral Arterial DiseaseTo demonstrate that the use of EndoNaut for endovascular procedures on the femoropopliteal axis has a clinical impact for the patient (decrease in irradiation and the volume of contrast product) as well as for nursing staff (reduction in irradiation) compared to procedures performed without EndoNaut.
A Study Related to the VOYAGER PAD Trial to Learn More About the Target Population for Xarelto in...
Peripheral Artery DiseaseThis is a study to learn more about French patients who have peripheral artery disease (PAD) and who have had a revascularization procedure. With this procedure, doctors use surgery or a thin tube (called a catheter) to open a narrow or blocked blood vessel in the lower limbs. In a previous Bayer trial called VOYAGER PAD, researchers studied Xarelto in participants with PAD who had recently had a revascularization procedure in their lower leg. The researchers studied how well Xarelto worked and how safe it was in these participants. Based on the results of the VOYAGER PAD trial, the researchers in this study want to learn the number of patients with PAD who had a revascularization procedure in France from January 1st, 2016 to December 31st, 2019. This can help the researchers learn more about the target population (a specific group of people) who could potentially receive treatment with Xarelto. Xarelto is available for doctors in France to prescribe to patients who have the following conditions: to reduce the risk of another heart attack or of dying from a disease related to the heart or the blood vessels in adults with acute coronary syndrome (a group of conditions that includes heart attack and unstable angina, a severe type of chest pain) who have had an increase in certain cardiac blood tests to reduce the risk of getting blot clots (atherothrombotic events) in adults at a high risk of getting a blood clot due to a coronary artery disease or peripheral artery disease which causes symptoms to prevent blood clots in the veins after a hip or knee replacement operation in adults to prevent blood clots in brain (stroke) and other blood vessels in the body in adults who have a form of irregular heart rhythm called non-valvular atrial fibrillation to treat blood clots in the veins of the legs (deep vein thrombosis) and in the blood vessels of the lungs (pulmonary embolism), and to prevent blood clots from re-occurring in the blood vessels of the legs and/or lungs in adults to treat blood clots and prevent re-occurrence of blood clots in the veins or in the blood vessels of the lungs in full-term newborn babies, infants and toddlers, children and adolescents below 18 years following an initial treatment of at least 5 days with injectable medicines used to treat blood clots All the patients in this study will have PAD in their lower leg. They will all have had a revascularization procedure during a hospital stay in France between January 1st, 2016 and December 31st, 2019. The researchers will collect the patients' health data from the French National Health Insurance (NHI) hospital discharge database (PMSI). The researchers will look at the health data from all patients with PAD who had a revascularization procedure and also patients who could have joined the VOYAGER PAD trial. This group will not include any patients who have health conditions other than PAD. The researchers will review each patient's medical records until December 31st, 2019 or earlier if the patient has died. The researchers will also look at any previous medical records from the date of each patient's revascularization procedure back to January 1st, 2014. The researchers will use these medical records to look for any health conditions other than PAD that the patients may have had before their revascularization procedure after January 1st 2016. The main question the researchers want to answer in this study is: how many patients with PAD had a revascularization procedure between January 1st, 2016 and December 31st, 2019?
Walking Estimated Limitation Calculated by History - Study 2
Peripheral Artery DiseaseThe purpose of this study is to test and validate a new questionnaire in order to get a "walking estimated limitation calculated by history (WELCH) in patients referred for vascular investigations.
Study of Post-operative Oxygen Consumption Following Vascular Surgery
Oxygen ConsumptionAortic Aneurysm1 moreTo define any changes in whole body oxygen consumption that occur following major vascular surgery (open aortic aneurysm surgery; endovascular aortic aneurysm repair; and infra-inguinal lower limb revascularisation procedures).
Comparative Effectiveness Research Study of Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD)
Peripheral Arterial DiseaseClaudicationThe specific aim of this study is to prospectively compare outcomes (functional, quality of life, risk-adjusted clinical event) of medical management, surgical or endovascular (angioplasty or stent placement) interventions for the treatment of claudication caused by peripheral arterial disease. This study will test two major hypotheses; Hypothesis 1: At 12-months, surgical interventions are associated with greater improvements in function, claudication symptoms, and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) than endovascular procedures or medical management. Hypothesis 2: At 12-months, surgical and endovascular interventions are associated with greater improvements in function, claudication symptoms, and HRQoL than medical management.
Near Infrared Spectroscopy and Transcutaneous Oxygen Pressure in Critical Limb Ischemia Before and...
Peripheral Vascular DiseaseCritical Limb IschemiaComparison of two non-invasive methods for measuring tissue oxygenation. One is Transcutaneous Oxygen Pressure (TCPO2) and the other is the new method of Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS) - near infrared spectroscopy in patients with critical limb ischemia (CLI) undergoing invasive treatment (surgical or endovascular).
