Study Comparing the Role of the Laparoscopy Surgical Staging in the Peritoneal Carcinomatosis to...
Colorectal Peritoneal CarcinomatosisThe peritoneum is the second most common site of recurrence in patients with colorectal cancer. Cytoreductive surgery with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy improve the prognosis of these patients and incorporates surgical removal of all visible disease followed by chemical destruction of microscopic disease through chemoperfusion. The most validated predictors of outcome are preoperative tumor burden measured in terms of the peritoneal carcinomatosis index (PCI) and completeness of cytoreduction (CC score). Diagnostic laparoscopy prior to resection is widely used in hepatopancreaticobiliary and colorectal cancer and has been shown to be effective in excluding unnecessary laparotomy associated with higher morbidity.
French National Registry of Rare Peritoneal Surface Malignancies
Rare Peritoneal Surface MalignanciesPseudomyxoma Peritonei6 moreDespite advances in the management of and changes in clinical practice, little is known about the epidemiology, patterns of care and outcomes of rare peritoneal surface malignancies patients in France. In order to better understand the characteristics of rare peritoneal surface malignancies and to evaluate treatment strategies, the RENAPE registry aims at the collection of data from patients presenting with a rare peritoneal surface malignancy in France. Data will be entered prospectively in a specifically designed and secured web database. All RENAPE's centres and physicians are invited to register patients with a rare peritoneal surface malignancy diagnosis and to participate to the registry. Data will be evaluated within regular time frames, focusing on types of rare peritoneal surface malignancies, treatment modalities and patient outcomes (e.g. survival, recurrence), thereby contributing to the better understanding of these rare cancers.
Peritoneal Carcinomatosis Extent Evaluation: Radiologic, Laparoscopic and Pathologic.
Peritoneal Carcinomatosispathologically proved ovarian cancer patients that underwent contrast enhanced abdomino-pelvic CT and diagnostic laparoscopy before cytoreductive surgery (CRS) will be included in the study. Calculation of PCI (peritoneal cancer index) using Sugarbaker's method, peritoneal carcinomatosis extent will be categorized into low, moderate and large. Agreement in general and in each category between CT, laparoscopy, surgery and pathology will be assessed using kappa agreement.
