Occult Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation in Non-Cryptogenic Ischemic Stroke

Ischemic Stroke

The purpose of this study is to determine the incidence of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF) in ischemic stroke patients who have a presumed known stroke etiology other than atrial fibrillation.

The Assessment of Progression of Paroxysmal AF After CABG

Paroxysmal Atrial FibrillationCoronary Artery Disease

The aim of this study is a comparative evaluation of progression of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation in patients with coronary artery disease after isolated CABG and CABG combined with pulmonary vein isolation. Hypothesis of the study - patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and coronary artery disease after CABG in combination with isolation of the pulmonary veins have a better outcomes for the progression of AF compared with patients undergoing isolated CABG.

Recording for Potential AF Drivers and Patient Specific Atrial Anatomy & Atrial Electrogram Maps...

Atrial Fibrillation

The 64 pole basket catheter used for the mapping procedure will be defined "atypical" sites which sustain atrial fibrillation. The ablation through the driver will lead to more rapid ablation of the atrial fibrillation.

Effect of 3 Years of Exercise in Patients With Atrial Fibrillation

Atrial Fibrillation

This is a substudy of "Generation 100". The investigators will follow the persons with atrial fibrillation to see if 3 years of interval or moderate exercise affects the burden of atrial fibrillation, symptoms, use of health services or echocardiographic findings.

Early Treatment of Atrial Fibrillation for Stroke Prevention Trial

Atrial FibrillationStroke

EAST prospectively tests the hypothesis that an early, structured rhythm control therapy based on antiarrhythmic drugs and catheter ablation can prevent atrial fibrillation (AF) related complications in patients with AF when compared to usual care. Patients will be randomized to early therapy or usual care. In the early therapy group, patients will receive either catheter ablation (usually by pulmonary vein isolation), or adequate antiarrhythmic drug therapy at an early time point. The initial therapy will be selected by the local investigator. Upon AF recurrence, both modalities will be combined. Usual care will be conducted following the 2010European Society of Cardiology ( ESC )guidelines for AF treatment. Early rhythm control therapy will be guided by Electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring.

Atrial FibrillationCardiovascular Disease

The purpose of this study was to determine if Irbesartan compared to Placebo would reduce the risk of vascular events such as heart attack, stroke, non-cerebral thromboembolic event and death in patients with Atrial Fibrillation (AF) and with at least one major risk of vascular events.

Routine Mini-invasive Electrophysiology Study for Patients Feeling Tachycardia, With a Negative...

Pre-excitation SyndromesParoxysmal Tachycardia3 more

Patients complaining of tachycardia but with a negative Holter ECG, are for a limited time period offered a simplified electrophysiological(EP) examination. By a full electrophysiological study(EP study)electrodes are introduced for pacing and sensing i all four heart chambers. Where as by the mini invasive EP study only one electrode is introduced to the right atrium. The simplified procedure represent a smaller risk of complications, requires less resources but should yield the same diagnoses in more than 90% of the cases. The study is a feasibility study to see if the procedure can discover arrythmias in a fairly unselected patient population.

Study of Left Atrial Appendage Closure in Patients With Atrial Fibrillation - III

Atrial Fibrillation

This study is a prospective, multicenter, non-randomized trial of a stand-alone procedure for left atrial appendage exclusion in patients with atrial fibrillation at risk for embolic events who are contraindicated for or intolerant of oral anticoagulation therapy. This study will enroll 100 participant, who will receive the LAA ligation study treatment. The objective of this registry is to assess the effectiveness of permanent exclusion of the LAA using the LARIAT Suture Delivery Device and Accessories in patients unable to be treated with standard anticoagulation therapy. The results of the study will be used to assess outcomes within the first year, post-treatment.

AtriCure Minimally Invasive Surgical Ablation for Atrial Fibrillation/RESTORE IIB

Atrial Fibrillation

Feasibility study arm to evaluate the safety of adding the left atrial linear connecting lesions of the Cox-Maze lesion set to the current RESTORE SR II IDE study procedure of performing pulmonary vein isolation, selected left atrial autonomic ganglionated plexi (GP) ablation, and optional left atrial appendage (LAA) excision/exclusion on a beating heart for patients with permanent or persistent Atrial Fibrillation (AF).

Clinical Investigation to Determine the Accuracy and Benefit of Cardioskin™ in Patients With Known...

Atrial Fibrillation

This is a prospective, non-randomized, comparative, single-arm, open label, multi- centre, post-market clinical investigation involving an expected 74 subjects (minimum 40, maximum 118) suffering from paroxysmal AF with the aim to determine the accuracy of "definitive" AF detection (≥30 seconds) of the Cardioskin™ as compared to a 3-lead Holter recorder in patients with known paroxysmal AF.
