Use of Care Services by Patients With Borderline Personality Disorder

Borderline Personality Disorder

Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is characterized by a pervasive pattern of instability and impulsivity. Several North American prospective studies support the high level of mental health care utilization in this population. There is little data in other systems of health organization, such as France. Furthermore, little is known on the variables associated with the mental health service utilization among BPD patients. The main objective was to compare the utilization of mental health care among BPD patients, to the general population and patients with another personality disorder (PD) and to describe the demographic and clinical factors associated with the group of patients who use the most health care.

The Impact of the COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2 Disease) on Psychopathology

Psychosis;SchizophrenicPersonality Disorders3 more

The outbreak of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic may be considered a traumatic phenomenon. In a sample of subjects suffering from different psychiatric disorders, psychopathological status and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) symptoms over time are assessed using specific psychometric scales. In a sample of healthy controls PTSD symptoms are evaluated by Impact of Event Scale Revised (IES-R) and compared to patients' scores. We hypothesize that a significant number of psychiatric outpatients have experienced a clinical psychopathological worsening and a greater prevalence of PTSD symptoms compared to the general population. The study of the potential psychopathological changes could represent a useful contribution to deepen the understanding of psychological consequences of the pandemic.

Personality Disorders and Substance Use Disorders in a Sexual Context in the Man Having Sex With...

Substance Use Disorders

Chemsex refers to the use of psychoactive drugs in a sexual context, mainly cathinones, GHB/GBL, methamphetamine, cocaine and ketamine. This can cause infectious or psychiatric complications, addictions, and often goes with high risk sexual behaviours. Recent studies have highlighted the relationship between personality disorders, substance use disorders and risky sexual behaviours. It is important to understand the factors associated with chemsex in order to offer adapted prevention and care plans. The study hypothesis is that personality disorders, evaluated with the PDQ-4+ questionnaire, are more frequent among man having sex with other men with a substance use disorder linked to chemsex than among man having sex with other men who have never practised chemsex.
