BiZact Tonsillectomy in the Pediatric Population
TonsillectomyTonsillitis Chronic5 moreThis study has been designed to evaluate how effective the Bizact tonsillectomy device is in reducing operating time and complications that occur after surgery. This device operates in a different way than the standard device that is used for most tonsillectomies. In 2019, a study was conducted in 186 children and adults using this device in tonsillectomies. Results showed lower blood loss and shortened time in surgery. However, the rate for bleeding as a complication after surgery was the same as other procedures that are used in tonsillectomy
Stratafix vs. Vicryl OAGB / MGB Suture Study
Morbid ObesityAnastomotic Leak2 moreTo compare shorttime (6 months) results of two competitive suture materials with regard to time demanded to perform the concerned surgical step and secondary to study anastomotic site safety and complications like leakage and hemorrhage as well as development of anastomotic strictures. Evaluation of cost-effectiveness.
Fresh Autologous Whole Blood Transfusion After Cardiopulmonary Bypass
Cardiac DiseaseBleeding PostoperativeAutologous blood transfused at the end of cardiopulmonary bypass will reduce total blood loss 24 hours after surgery and improve mitochondrial oxygen delivery measured by plasma succinate levels. The study design is a prospective randomized interventional trial of transfusion of fresh autologous whole blood versus standard of care expectant management of bleeding during elective cardiac surgery.
Efficacy of Tranexamic Acid in Preventing Post Operative Blood Loss in Bone Sarcoma Patient
Blood LossSurgicalinvestigator will see the efficacy of tranexamic acid in limb salvage surgery patients which will prevent blood loss and help in conservation of blood products.
Comparative Study Between Preoperative and Postoperative Rectal Misoprostol
Blood LossSurgical2 moreCesarean delivery (CD) is the most common major surgical procedure undergone by women around the world. Over the past two decades, there has been a witnessed increase in rates of caesarean deliveries, which continues to rise, achieving 30% in resource-rich countries and exceeding 60% in resource-limited countries. According to a Lancet report 2014, Egypt is one of the countries with the highest rates of caesarean delivery, in which the rate had reached 55.5%. The rate is almost double to three times the ideal rate of 10%-15%
Tranexamic Acid in Rhinoplasty: Perioperative Bleeding, Edema and Ecchymosis
SurgeryPostoperative Blood LossThis study will be a prospective randomized study to evaluate the effect of tranexamic acid (TXA) use on intraoperative and postoperative outcomes among patients undergoing rhinoplasty by two Facial Plastic surgeons at Vanderbilt. Outcomes will include intra- and post-operative bleeding and postoperative bruising and swelling.
DEPOSITION - Decreasing Postoperative Blood Loss by Topical vs. Intravenous Tranexamic Acid in Open...
BleedingSurgical Blood Loss1 moreThe aim is to conduct a double-dummy multi-centre randomized controlled clinical trial of application of topical dose of tranexamic acid (TxA) versus the usual intravenous TxA in patients undergoing on-pump cardiac surgery.
IV Ketorolac on Platelet Function Post-Cesarean Delivery
AnalgesiaObstetrical7 moreCesarean delivery has become the most common surgical procedure in the US. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) have been shown to improve the quality of post-cesarean analgesia and markedly reduce opioid consumption. The effect of NSAIDs on healthy volunteers results in inhibition of platelet aggregation and prolonged bleeding time. However, in the obstetric population, the presence and degree of platelet inhibition after NSAID exposure is less clear. The investigators plan to use Platelet Aggregometry and Thromboelastography (TEG) to evaluate the effect of ketorolac on platelets.
Safe and Timely Antithrombotic Removal - Ticagrelor (STAR-T)
HemorrhageSurgical5 moreProspective, multi-center, double-blind, randomized pivotal trial to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the DrugSorb-ATR system for intraoperative removal of ticagrelor in patients undergoing urgent cardiothoracic (CT) surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB).
Effect of Early Administration of TXA in Adult Hip Fractures
Postoperative Blood LossThis is a prospective clinical study designed to assess blood loss in intracapsular and extracapsular hip fractures undergoing operative fixation at a Level II trauma center. It is well established in the orthopedic literature that tranexamic acid (TXA) decreases blood loss and need for postoperative blood transfusion in hip fracture patients as well as total joint arthroplasty patients. A typical dosing pattern, and the dosing pattern employed at our institution, is 1 gram IV infused prior to incision followed by 1 gram IV infused at the time of wound closure.
