Investigation of Metformin in Pre-Diabetes on Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular OuTcomes

Prediabetic StateAtherosclerosis1 more

This research will help us to learn if the medicine called metformin reduces the risk of death, heart attacks, and/or strokes in patients who have pre-diabetes and heart or blood vessel problems.

Pre-diabetes in Subject With Impaired Fasting Glucose (IFG) and Impaired Glucose Tolerance (IGT)...

Diabetes MellitusType 22 more

HYPOTHESIS: Impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) and impaired fasting glucose (IFG) have distinct pathophysiologic etiologies. Therefore, therapeutic interventions designed to correct the specific underlying pathogenic abnormalities in IGT and IFG will be required to optimally prevent the progressive beta cell failure and development of overt type 2 diabetes.

Type 2 Diabetes MellitusImpaired Glucose Tolerance3 more

The purpose of this study is to understand the role of GLP-1 in the pathogenesis of T2D in youth and explore their potential salutary effects and ability to delay the progressive loss of ß-cell function and reduce hepatic steatosis in youth with prediabetes/new onset T2D and NAFLD.

Use of Continuous Glucose Monitoring in Non-Diabetic Population to Compliment Signos Mobile Health...

Weight LossMetabolic Syndrome4 more

Metabolic syndrome and resulting downstream health effects remains a growing health concern. In published trials, the use of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) assists behavioral changes efforts, leading to improved adherence and results from diet and exercise changes in individuals with obesity, pre-diabetes and diabetes. Mobile health (mHealth) platforms provide satisfactory, easy-to-use tools that help participants in the pursuit of weight change goals. We hypothesize that the use of CGM data and targeted coaching and nutrition education will assist with weight optimization goals in the general (non-diabetic) population using the Signos mHealth platform, with associated health benefits.

Home-based Intervention With Semaglutide Treatment Of Neuroleptica-Related Prediabetes

SchizophreniaPrediabetic State

To investigate whether the Glucagon Like Peptide 1 (GLP-1) Semaglutide (1.34 mg/ml) has preventive effect compared to placebo in the development of diabetes and Metabolic Syndrome in people with pre-diabetes, overweight and schizophrenia, who receive antipsychotic treatment. Furthermore to investigate for an effect of Semaglutide compared to placebo on psychotic symptoms and quality of life in people with schizophrenia, prediabetes and overweight.

Effect of F. Prausnitzii on Glycemic Control

Pre DiabetesImpaired Glucose Tolerance1 more

The microbiota is associated with a wide spectrum of diseases including diabetes and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. In this study we will investigate if the bacteria F. prausnitzii, which is a part of the human gut microbiota, can improve metabolic parameters in subjects with impaired glucose control.

Technology-Supported Treatment of Sleep Apnea in Prediabetes

Sleep ApneaPreDiabetes1 more

Despite the efficacy of intensive lifestyle interventions in prediabetes, the incidence of diabetes is rising, and thus there is a critical need for additional strategies to prevent diabetes and to reduce its cardiovascular complications in this high-risk population. Sleep apnea is a highly common condition in prediabetes, but it has been mostly ignored and undertreated in current practice. The proposed study will be the first to assess whether adding CPAP (continuous positive air pressure) treatment to a lifestyle intervention improves cardiometabolic outcomes beyond that achieved with lifestyle alone (i.e. current standard of care) in high-risk individuals with prediabetes.

Treatment to Regress to Normoglycemia in Women With a Recent History of GDM

Pre DiabetesPostpartum Disorder

The purpose of the study is to determine the efficacy of semaglutide 1mg (Ozempic®) to aid recently postpartum women with dysglycemia and a history of GDM to regress to normoglycemia; thereby filling a gap in efficacious pharmacologic intervention options for clinicians to support postpartum diabetes recovery and reduce future risk of T2DM in young women.
