This study will evaluate the feasibility and efficacy of two interventions of lifestyle ( intensive and less intensive) to prevent diabetes in patients from Ethiopian origin, aged 25 to 55 years old with prediabetes living in Israel and insured by Clalit Health Services in the Central district, using resources existing in this Health Care system (HMO).

A PRoBE design study will be used to obtain saliva from patients before undergoing blood study evaluation for screening at risk patients for the presence of undiagnosed pre-diabetes of type II diabetes. Pre-specified saliva biomarkers will be evaluated along with multi-marker models for their discriminatory value for distinguishing patients with normal glucose metabolism from those with disease. Appropriate housekeeping genes will also be incorporated to allow for the measurement of relative gene expression.

This is a longitudinal study involving use of the January App which collects multiple data streams and employs machine learning techniques to offer personalized lifestyle recommendations and structured food and activity challenges.

The purpose of this study is to address whether inactive individuals with prediabetes who take part in the Small Steps for Big Changes program, which is a 3-week supervised exercise and lifestyle change program with brief counseling, will be more adherent to regular exercise one year after program completion compared to before they took part in the program.

The Bio-bank and Registry for StratIfication and Targeted intErventions in the Spectrum Of Type 2 Diabetes (BRITE-SPOT) has been set up to prospectively collect clinical data and biologically relevant samples from individuals with, and at risk for type 2 diabetes (T2D), with the aim of delineating factors related to susceptibility, progression, complications and response to treatment. Expanded from BRITE-SPOT, Assessing the Progression to Type - 2 Diabetes (APT-2D) is a prospective cohort with a focus on non-diabetics (normoglycemic or prediabetic), to expand the sample size and depth of metabolic phenotyping in these upstream groups, with the more targeted aim of delineating factors related to insulin sensitivity versus secretion, that relate to progression to T2D.

To collect data in an observational study from Prediabetes (PD) and Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) patients including time correlated CGM, medication and food intake approximately 80% of the time for each subject that completes the entire active phase.

We, the investigators at National Taiwan University Hospital, want to compare patients' islet cell function, insulin sensitivity and risk of chronic complications with normal subjects. Moreover, we want to examine whether they are at a higher risk of having metabolic syndrome and to answer whether we should screen the phenotypes of metabolic syndrome in impaired fasting glucose (IFG) and impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) patients. Then, we want to examine the association between insulin sensitivity and islet functions.

This study is designed to compare the serum sphingolipidomic analyses in healthy, pre-diabetic and diabetic subjects. age, sex and BMI are matched among these three groups. As ceramide, sphingosine, sphingosine-1-phosphate and sphinganine are involved in inflammation, immunity and cancer, investigators proposed a hypothesis that sphingosine-1-phosphate and other sphingolipids may be associated with the progress of type 2 diabetes. sphingolipids may be a biomarker for diabetes.
