Pilot Study of Cabozantinib for Recurrent or Progressive Central Nervous System Tumors in Children...

Glioblastoma MultiformeAnaplastic Astrocytoma2 more

This pilot will study the feasibility and exploratory efficacy of using Cabozantinib for recurrent or refractory central nervous system tumors for which there are no curative options. Patients will also be followed for safety, time to progression, event free survival and overall survival

3'-Deoxy-3'-[18F] Fluorothymidine PET Imaging in Patients With Cancer

Brain and Central Nervous System TumorsChronic Myeloproliferative Disorders8 more

RATIONALE: Diagnostic procedures, such as 3'-deoxy-3'-[18F] fluorothymidine (FLT) PET imaging, may help find and diagnose cancer. It may also help doctors predict a patient's response to treatment and help plan the best treatment. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying FLT PET imaging in patients with cancer.

Boron Phenylalanine With or Without Mannitol in Treating Patients With Glioblastoma Multiforme

Brain and Central Nervous System Tumors

RATIONALE: Giving boron phenylalanine in different ways and measuring it in tissue in patients with glioblastoma multiforme may help in planning better radiation therapy, such as boron neutron capture therapy, for patients in the future. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects, best dose boron phenylalanine, and best way of giving it with or without mannitol in treating patients with glioblastoma multiforme.

Dasatinib, Ifosfamide, Carboplatin, and Etoposide in Treating Young Patients With Metastatic or...

Brain and Central Nervous System TumorsChildhood Germ Cell Tumor10 more

RATIONALE: Dasatinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs in chemotherapy, such as ifosfamide, carboplatin, and etoposide, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving dasatinib together with ifosfamide, carboplatin, and etoposide may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase I/II trial is studying the side effects and best dose of dasatinib when given together with ifosfamide, carboplatin, and etoposide and to see how well they work in treating young patients with metastatic or recurrent malignant solid tumors.

Nelfinavir Mesylate, Radiation Therapy, and Temozolomide in Treating Patients With Glioblastoma...

Brain and Central Nervous System Tumors

RATIONALE: Nelfinavir mesylate may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Radiation therapy uses high energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as temozolomide, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving nelfinavir mesylate together with radiation therapy and temozolomide may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of nelfinavir mesylate when given together with radiation therapy and temozolomide in treating patients with glioblastoma multiforme.

MK0752 in Treating Young Patients With Recurrent or Refractory CNS Cancer

Brain and Central Nervous System Tumors

RATIONALE: MK0752 may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of MK0752 in treating young patients with recurrent or refractory CNS cancer.

Melphalan With BBBD in Treating Patients With Brain Malignancies

Brain and Central Nervous System TumorsLymphoma1 more

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as melphalan, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving drugs directly into the arteries around the tumor may kill more tumor cells. Mannitol may open the blood vessels around the brain [Blood-Brain Barrier Disruption (BBBD)]and allow melphalan to be carried directly to the brain tumor. Giving melphalan together with BBBD may be an effective treatment for central nervous system cancer. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying side effects and best dose of melphalan when given together with mannitol in treating patients with central nervous system cancer.

TP-38 Toxin in Treating Young Patients With Recurrent or Progressive Supratentorial High-Grade Glioma...

Brain and Central Nervous System Tumors

RATIONALE: The TP-38 toxin can locate tumor cells and kill them without harming normal cells. Giving TP-38 toxin directly into the tumor may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase I/II trial is studying the side effects and best dose of TP-38 toxin administered directly into the brain and to see how well it works in treating young patients with recurrent or progressive supratentorial high-grade glioma.

Radiation Therapy Followed by Bleomycin in Treating Adult Patients With Newly Diagnosed Supratentorial...

Brain and Central Nervous System Tumors

RATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining radiation therapy with chemotherapy may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of radiation therapy followed by bleomycin in treating adult patients who have newly diagnosed supratentorial glioblastoma multiforme.

Biological Therapy and Radiation Therapy in Treating Patients With Newly Diagnosed Glioblastoma...

Brain and Central Nervous System Tumors

RATIONALE: Biological therapies such as poly-ICLC use different ways to stimulate the immune system and stop tumor cells from growing. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Combining biological therapy with radiation therapy may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combining poly-ICLC with radiation therapy in treating patients who have newly diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme.
