Brain TumorsCentral Nervous System Tumors9 more

RATIONALE: Electroacupuncture may help to reduce or prevent delayed nausea and vomiting in patients treated with chemotherapy. PURPOSE: This randomized clinical trial is studying the effectiveness of electroacupuncture in treating delayed nausea and vomiting in patients who are receiving chemotherapy for newly diagnosed childhood sarcoma, neuroblastoma, nasopharyngeal cancer, germ cell tumors, or Hodgkin lymphoma.

Opioid Titration Order Sheet or Standard Care in Treating Patients With Cancer Pain

Brain and Central Nervous System TumorsChronic Myeloproliferative Disorders10 more

RATIONALE: An Opioid Titration Order Sheet that allows healthcare providers to adjust the dose and schedule of pain medication may help improve pain treatment for patients with cancer. It is not yet known whether the use of an Opioid Titration Order Sheet is more effective than standard care in treating pain caused by cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying an Opioid Titration Order Sheet to see how well it works compared with standard care in treating patients with cancer pain.

Brain and Central Nervous System TumorsChronic Myeloproliferative Disorders8 more

RATIONALE: Providing information that is tailored to answer patients' questions about clinical trials may help patients with cancer decide to enroll in a clinical trial. It is not known whether providing personalized information is more effective than basic information in helping patients make decisions about clinical trials. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying personalized information to see how well it works compared with basic information in helping patients make decisions about participating in a clinical trial.

High-Dose Trivalent Influenza Vaccine in Inducing Immune Response Patients With Central Nervous...

Central Nervous System Neoplasm

This pilot clinical trial studies high-dose trivalent influenza vaccine in inducing immune response patients with central nervous system tumors. Studying samples of blood in the laboratory from patients receiving trivalent influenza vaccine may help doctors learn more about the effects of trivalent influenza vaccine on cells. It may also help doctors understand how well patients respond to treatment.

Phase II Studies Of Donepezil And Ginkgo Biloba In Irradiated Brain Tumor

Brain and Central Nervous System TumorsRadiation Toxicity

RATIONALE: Donepezil and EGb761 may be effective in improving neurocognitive function (such as thinking, attention, concentration, and memory) and may improve quality of life in patients who have undergone radiation therapy to the brain. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well donepezil or EGb761 works in improving neurocognitive function in patients who have undergone radiation therapy for primary brain tumor or brain metastases.

Pemetrexed and Temozolomide in Treating Patients With Relapsed Primary Central Nervous System Lymphoma...

Central Nervous System Tumors

In this trial, we will treat relapsed PCNSL with temozolomide, pemetrexed. Our objective was to assess our treatment strategies' availability based on response rates, progression-free survival (PFS), median PFS, and toxicity.

Temozolomide and Radiation Therapy in Treating Young Patients With Pontine Glioma

Brain and Central Nervous System Tumors

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as temozolomide, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Giving temozolomide together with radiation therapy may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving temozolomide together with radiation therapy works in treating young patients with pontine glioma.

Thiotepa and Radiation Therapy in Treating Young Patients With Newly Diagnosed Malignant Brain Tumors...

Brain and Central Nervous System Tumors

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as thiotepa, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Giving chemotherapy and radiation therapy after surgery may kill any tumor cells that remain after surgery. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well thiotepa works together with radiation therapy in treating young patients with newly diagnosed malignant brain tumors.
