The Effect of Qigong Relaxation Exercise Applied in the Psychiatry Clinic on the Anxiety and Aggression...

Psychiatric Disorder

The aim of the study, which aimed to examine the effect of the Qigong relaxation exercise applied in psychiatry clinics on the level of anxiety, was planned as randomized controlled. Individuals will be divided into intervention and control groups. Before the application, the Personal Information Form and STAI Form I scale will be applied to the patients in the Intervention and Control group. Patients in the intervention group are expected to answer the STAI Form I scale after qigong relaxation exercises. It planned to apply the same forms as planned in the intervention group without any application in the control group. Personal Information Form and STAI Form I Scale will be filled by the patients in the form of self-report.

Pre-Implementation Enhancement Strategy To Improve Teachers' Intention to Implement Evidence-Based...

Child Behavior DisordersImplementation Science2 more

Background: As the most common setting where youth access behavioral health services, the education sector frequently employs training and follow-up consultation as cornerstone implementation strategies to promote the uptake and use of evidence-based practices (EBPs), which are often insufficient to produce desired implementation outcomes (e.g., intervention fidelity) and changes in youth behavioral health outcomes (e.g., reduced externalizing behaviors). There is a need for theoretically-informed pre-implementation enhancement strategies (PIES) that increase the yield of training and follow-up consultation. Specifically, social-cognitive theory explicates principles to inform the design of strategy content and specific mechanisms of behavior change, such as intentions to implement (ITI), to target via a PIES that increase provider to more active implementation strategies. Methods: This triple-blind randomized controlled trial preliminarily examined the efficacy of a pragmatic PIES (SC-PIES) to improve the implementation of universal EBPs in the education sector. Participants were randomly assigned to the treatment (PIES) or active control condition (meeting with administrators). The investigators assessed participants' ITI, intervention fidelity, and youth behavioral health outcome before, immediately after, and six-week following treatment.

Assessing and Addressing Behaviors in Children With Hearing Loss

Hearing LossAttention Deficit and Disruptive Behavior Disorders1 more

Purpose: This study is a feasibility trial of an existing evidence-based behavioral parent training program with parents of preschool-aged children who were born deaf or hard of hearing (DHH). The hypotheses of this study are (a) that a randomized control trial of the Family Check Up with this population will be feasible, (b) parents will rate the intervention as acceptable, and (c) a signal of effect will be observable among intervention group parents compared to controls for the following outcome variables: child behaviors, parenting behaviors, and parenting sense of competence.

Children's Learning Centers Group FNI

RelationMother-Child4 more

The purpose of this study is to compare the effects of Family Nurture Intervention in a mother-child group setting with a Standard Children's Learning Center (CLC) Program for preschool-aged children (ages 2-4.5). This approach is based on creating emotional connection and establishing mother-child two-way regulation, which the investigators hypothesize affects early child development. Mothers and children will be engaged by Nurture Specialists in comforting and calming interactions to regulate each other physically-leading to an automatic calming response to contact with each other.

Norwalk Feasibility Study

Behavior ProblemDevelopment Delay4 more

The purpose of this study is two-fold: 1) to examine the feasibility of the Drop-In model of Family Nurture Intervention (FNI); and 2) to collect pilot data concerning the mother's response to the Drop-In model of FNI and short term effects of participation. Feasibility of the Program will be measured through costs, staffing, space availability, and uptake. Participation in the Drop-In entails weekly visits for FNI. The investigators hypothesize that the Family Nurture Intervention will show feasibility through attendance and positive response to the Drop-In format. The investigators also expect the Family Nurture Intervention to improve mother's perceived well-being and mother-child emotional connection.

Low Intensity Focused Ultrasound for Emotion Regulation

Psychiatric DisorderAnxiety Disorders4 more

Amygdala is highly involved in emotional response, emotional reactivity and anxiety. Amygdala functions are therefore involved in a wide range of psychiatric disorders including generalized and social anxiety, specific phobia, obsessive compulsive disorder and posttraumatic stress disorder. Therefore, potential clinical implications of amygdala stimulation are great. However, to date, such efforts have been limited by the inability of non-invasive neuromodulation techniques (e.g. transcranial magnetic stimulation - TMS) to reach the amygdala and the highly invasive (i.e. neurosurgical) nature of methods (e.g. deep brain stimulation - DBS) which can, but to our knowledge has rarely been used, target these areas. In order to overcome these current limitations, study invesitgators propose the use of low intensity focused ultrasound pulsation (LIFUP) to affect amygdala activity to improve emotion regulation.

Improving Satisfaction, Engagement and Outcomes Among Traditionally Underserved Children Through...

Disruptive Behavior

The project at the center of this proposal will leverage a pilot randomized design to examine initial feasibility and preliminary effects of augmenting usual mental health evaluation procedures with a structured person-centered assessment tool that specifically considers the cultural context of patient mental health problems (i.e., the Cultural Formulation Interview; CFI) on parent satisfaction, engagement and clinical child outcomes in the treatment of early child behavior problems. Additional analyses will explore whether traditional barriers (e.g., stigma, ethnic identity, and daily stress) moderate the effects of the CFI on satisfaction, engagement and treatment outcomes.

Pragmatic Randomized Control Trial of Telehealth vs Standard Care in Follow-up of Patients With...

Chronic DiseaseDiabetes4 more

The Norwegian health authorities has initiated a three-year trial of telehealth solutions as part of the treatment of patients with chronic illness in the period 2018-2021. Within the trial, telehealth indicates that patients are followed-up outside health-care facilities using information and communication technologies (ICTs). Patients who are followed up using telehealth solutions can answer questions about their own health and/or perform measurements related to their health (e.g. blood pressure, blood glucose, oxygen measurement, weight) via a tablet according to a personalized schedule. The measurement values are transferred from the measuring devices to a tablet so that the users can easily see them and track their results over time. The results are also transmitted digitally to a follow-up service, a healthcare center with nurses, who contacts the patient when needed. The follow-up service provides medical support and guidance based on the patient's needs and planned follow-up, and will, in consultation with the user, evaluate whether the user should contact the general practitioner (GP) or emergency room. The study population of the trial includes users with comprehensive medical needs, with medium to high risk of worsening of their condition, hospitalization or increased need for health and care services. The evaluation includes three main parts: 1) An effect evaluation which is designed as a randomized control trial, 2) a cost-benefit analysis, and 3) a process evaluation which aims to provide recommendations for how to organize and implement telemedicine in clinical practice. The primary outcomes include physical and mental health state, patient experience and use of health services. The effect evaluation is designed as a pragmatic open label multi-center randomized control trial, with two parallel arms with 300 patients in each arm. Patients are recruited between February 2019 and June 2020.
