Primary Mitral Regurgitation Repair

Mitral Valve InsufficiencyMitral Valve Prolapse6 more

This longitudinal cohort study evaluates the relationship of myocardial tissue markers characteristics assessed by cardiac MRI, with clinical measures of symptoms and functions in adults with primary mitral regurgitation. Participants are followed conservatively or may choose to undergo surgical repair at the discretion of their clinical team.

Mesh Debate Awareness Among Non-urogynecologists. A Practical Survey Study.

Pelvic Organ ProlapseUrinary Incontinence1 more

This study evaluates the awareness of mesh discussions in urogynecology among non-urogynecologists. A web-based questionnaire will be sent to four groups. Group-1 is King's College Hospital doctors. Group-2 is Uludag University Hospital doctors. Group-3 is doctors from the United States, and Group-4 is doctors from all over the world.

Exercise Capacity Evaluation in Patients With Non-rheumatic Mitral Valve Prolapse (MVP)

Mitral Valve Prolapse

Mitral valve prolapse (MVP) is a relatively common cardial problem in which one or more of the leaflets of the mitral valve prolapse during systole into the left atrium. The disease is very heterogeneous and can vary from a benign disease with almost no impact on the patient's life to a severe cardiac problem with many complications and high mortality rate. The purpose of the study is to see if the investigators can find a relation between the severity of the MVP to the exercise capacity of the patient. The investigators also want to see if they can find a difference between the exercise capacity of mild MVP patients and healthy people. To evaluate the exercise capacity of the subjects the investigators use Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET). CPET is probably the best known way to get a full picture of the subject's functions during exercise. By combining gas exchange monitoring and ECG during a controlled exercise in which the subject reaches maximal effort, the test gives information about the cardiac, the pulmonary and the metabolic functions of the subject. This information can help identify if there is a problem to perform exercise properly and more specifically if the limitation is due to a cardiac, pulmonary or metabolic problem.

Follow-up Study After Manchester Operation for Pelvic Organ Prolapse

Pelvic Organ Prolapse

Native tissue repair for pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is the predominant surgical technique in the investigators department and the Manchester operation the preferred procedure. The investigators long-term reoperation rates for pevic organ prolapse are very low, as documented in the investigators previous long-term follow-up study (Oversand et al, International Urogynecology Journal 2013), however the data were retrospective and patients with avulsions of the levator ani muscle were not identified. The investigators hypothesize that correct fixation and elevation of the vaginal apex, as part of a three-compartment repair procedure, is essential in the POP surgical repair, also when treating women with levator ani avulsions. The purpose of this study is to: prospectively evaluate if cardinal/sacrouterine ligament plication (as part of the 3-compartment Manchester procedure) gives an adequate elevation and fixation of the vaginal apex. assess changes in subjective symptoms between the preoperative evaluation and the 1 and 5-year postoperative evaluations. evaluate whether the patients identified with levator avulsions in the investigators population have an increased risk of failure (objectively and subjectively).

The Pelvic Floor Function and Sexual Life of the Women After Different Type of Hysterectomy

Quality of LifeUrinary Incontinence1 more

In this prospective, comparative non-randomized multiple teaching hospitals study, the investigators try to determine the relationship of total hysterectomy and Taiwanese female pelvic floor and sexual function from the view of epidemiology and clinical survey. This is an important issue that related to female autonomy, health care resources and even national health policy. The study results will help to understand whether there is unnecessary part in the current hysterectomy procedures and its potential health hazard.

Study of Overactive Bladder in Women With Prolapse

Urinary BladderOveractive1 more

Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is a common problem. Symptoms of overactive bladder (OAB) are present in approximately 50% of patients with POP. For many women the accompanying symptoms of OAB are an important reason for seeking help for their POP. Surgical repair of prolapse may improve OAB complaints. Persisting or de novo OAB symptoms are strongly correlated with dissatisfaction with the final results of an operation for POP. The primary aim of this research project is to investigate the difference in prevalence (i.e. improvement) of OAB and bothersome OAB symptoms at 6 and 12 months after POP repair surgery. The secondary objectives are to determine changes in bladder function at 6 and 12 months after surgery and to identify predictive factors for persistence, disappearance or de novo symptoms of OAB after POP surgery. Women who present with POP and who will undergo surgical treatment will be evaluated at baseline before their surgery and will be followed for the duration of one year after surgery.

The Association of Pelvic Organ Prolapse Severity and Urinary Symptoms and Sexual Function

Pelvic Organ ProlapseSexual Dysfunction1 more

Women with pelvic organ prolapse often accompany with urinary symptoms or sexual dysfunction, and analyzing the association will be helpful to identify the indication of proper management. Therefore, the aim of this study is to identify the above associations by perineal sonography.

A RETROspective Data Collection of comPRESSion Anastomosis Using the ColonRing

DiverticulumColon11 more

The proposed study is a post marketing, observational, retrospective data collection intended to gather and record data on patients treated with the ColonRing device in routine clinical practice at 4-6 centers. The data will assist in future evaluating the performance of the ColonRing device in regards to the creation of a colorectal anastomosis in Low Anterior Resection procedures. Hypothesis: The performance of the ColonRing, determined by the rate of complications, will be within the acceptable range reported in the literature for alternative treatment modalities.
