Pain Evaluation in Radium-223 Treated Castration Resistant Prostate Cancer Patients With Bone Metastases...

Castration-Resistant Prostatic Cancer

This observational prospective single arm cohort study is designed to assess pain and bone pain related quality of life of metastatic Castration Resistant Prostate Cancer (mCRPC) patients receiving Radium-223 in a real life nuclear medicine practice setting. In addition, overall survival, time to next tumor treatment (TTNT), time to first symptomatic skeletal event (SSE), course of blood counts, and safety will be assessed.

A Multicenter Trial Enrolling Men With Advanced Prostate Cancer Who Are to Receive Combination Radiation...

Castrate Refractory Metastatic Prostate Cancer (mCRPC)

Radiation in combination with Provenge based immunotherapy may improve outcomes seen on imaging as well as immunologic monitoring. This study will assess the effect of radiation therapy to augment anti-tumor responses from immune therapy with Provenge.

MRI / Ultrasound Fusion With Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound Guidance

Prostatic Neoplasms

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. It is most often detected by an abnormal digital rectal exam or an elevated Prostate-Specific Antigen -determine by a blood test. When it is suspected that someone may have prostate cancer, a biopsy is ordered. This biopsy is performed by the Radiologist with ultrasound guidance through the rectum. In some patients, a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan of the prostate may be ordered to further evaluate the prostate. In some situations, the MRI and Ultrasound images will be fused (digitally merged) together during the ultrasound procedure to help localize the questionable lesions. Recent research has used an additional component known as a contrast agent - an intravenously injected inert substance - which is identifiable by ultrasound. This inert substance is more obvious in areas of increased blood flow, which is a common finding in cancerous lesions. In this research project, we would like to determine whether the use of contrast-enhanced ultrasound is beneficial in improving accuracy of the biopsies taken and the relative correlation to the MRI/ Ultrasound-fused images.

Use of Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy in the Focal Treatment of Localized Prostate Cancer

Prostate Cancer

This is a pilot, feasibility/exploratory study to evaluate the safety of laser interstitial thermal therapy (LITT) using Visualase in the focal treatment of localized prostate cancer as well as to gather data for the design of future studies.

Telomere Associated Variables (TAVs) in Prostate Cancer

Prostate Cancer

This research project results from the interest in continuing the collaboration with the previous LL-HURS-ONC001 clinical validation study, which gives cause to the present study. LL-HURS-ONC001 was carried out with the participation of HURS' Principal Investigator and the team of experts in prostate cancer, as well as with the participation of the Sponsor's scientific and development team, Life Length SL, led by Dr. Najarro. The main objective of this study is to demonstrate the efficacy of the PROSTAV test in cutting down on unnecessary biopsies in prostate cancer screening/early diagnosis. PROSTAV is a minimally invasive test, easy to implement as biomarker for prostate cancer diagnosis. The efficacy of the PROSTAV test is clinically validated by the results obtained in a previous study, LL-HURS-ONC001. The purpose of this study is to advance in the development of new biomarkers in areas where there is a clinical need and where the telomeric profile influences medical decisions within the patient's clinical context. The association level between each individual's telomere biology and the results of the prostate biopsy will be confirmed. Data will be collected to subsequently delve deeper into and accurately establish the effect of this measure in prostate cancer patient management to substantiate its implementation in standard care.

Streaming Web-based Exercise At Home: A Pilot Study

Prostate CancerBreast Cancer Female

This is a single-arm pilot study to evaluate the use of web-based video conferencing as a method of exercise training delivery. This study will include 10 female breast cancer survivors and 10 male prostate cancer survivors. For the first 12 weeks on study (Part 1), participants will train with an exercise physiologist (EP) for 150 minutes/week. This training will be delivered by web-based video conferencing. For the next 12 weeks (Part 2), participants will be instructed to do patient-directed exercise.

Real Time MRI Fused to Cone Beam CT Guided Biopsies of the Prostate.

Prostate Cancer

The purpose of this study is to investigate a novel method of prostate biopsy using a computerized guidance system to accurately target lesions within the prostate. This method of prostate biopsy involves using a computerized technology that permits a lesion detected on MRI to be projected by a computer into 3 dimensions on a patient's CT scan. A CT guided biopsy can then be performed where a needle is advanced into the patient, where the computer has projected the image of the tumor that cannot normally be seen on CT. This is a randomized, cross over designed trial to compare this new method of prostate biopsy to the currently employed standard transrectal ultrasound guided prostate (TRUSP) biopsy technique.

Using Decision Analysis to Enhance Decision-Making Regarding Prostate Cancer Screening

Prostate Cancer

The purpose of this study is to evaluate a new counseling tool for patients deciding whether or not to undergo prostate cancer screening. This screening decision aid is a computer program that provides individual patients estimates of their risks of prostate cancer diagnosis, prostate cancer related death, or death from any cause. The researchers are evaluating whether or not patients find this screening decision aid helpful. As part of this study, participants will be asked for their response on questionnaires. If patients find the screening decision aid helpful, the researchers will make it available at other clinic locations.

Prognostic Value of SPECT-CT Quantitative Indices for the Response Assessment of Bone Metastatic...

Prostate Cancer

Prognostic interest of bone scintigraphy in bone metastatic prostate carcinoma (BMPC) has been shown. Recent technological advances allow to perform quantitative bone SPECT-CT in routine practice. The aim of this study is to assess the prognostic interest of quantitative bone SPECT-CT in BMPC.

Descriptive Analysis of Clinical Outcomes in Patients With Prostate Gland Cancer, Which Spreads...

Metastatic Castration-resistant Prostate Cancer (mCRPC)

In this study researcher want to learn more about the overall survival in patients suffering from prostate gland cancer which spread outside the prostate to other parts of the body who received either a novel anti-hormone therapy (NAH) or Radium-223 (Xofigo) after a prior NAH therapy (first line treatment). Additionally the researchers are also interested in the occurrence of bone fractures and other skeletal events. Basis for this study will be the US based Flatiron database which provides access to clinical data for cancer patients.
