Gadoxetate Sodium Enhanced MRI as a Biomarker for Aggressive Prostate Cancer

Cancer of the ProstateCastration-resistant Prostate Cancer

The purpose of this research study is to test to see if Gadoxetate Sodium is a useful contrast agent for detecting prostate cancer during magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Gadoxetate Sodium is an FDA approved contrast agent that is currently used to detect liver cancer. Gadoxetate Sodium shows promise in identifying more aggressive prostate cancers at earlier stages. The study will also test to see if specific genes are expressed in the left over tissue samples from previous prostate fusion biopsy. The investigators hypothesize that Gadoxetate Sodium-enhanced MRI can differentiate aggressive prostate cancer and predict its early recurrence.

Rectal Gas Removal Through Small Catheter Placement Prior to MRI of the Prostate

Prostatic NeoplasmsProstate Cancer

The presence of rectal gas can cause distortion at air-tissue interfaces on diffusion-weighted images (DWI) of prostate MRI and reduce image quality due to these susceptibility artifacts. Small catheter placement in the rectum before MRI is one of the ways that is advocated in PI-RADS v2 guidelines to reduce rectal gas. The goal of this study is to prospectively evaluate the effect of small catheter placement on artifacts on diffusion weighted images and to see whether it improves diagnostic accuracy.

Influence of Prostate Cancer Radiation on Aging

Prostate CancerAging Disorder2 more

Previous studies have reported that cancer survivors develop age-related chronic conditions like frailty, sarcopenia, cardiac dysfunction, and cognitive impairment earlier and/or at a greater burden than similarly aged individuals never diagnosed with cancer or exposed to cancer therapies. However, the knowledge about aging-associated consequences of cancer treatment and the processes that underlie differential responses to therapy is very limited. In 2018, a think tank established by the National Cancer Institute has defined various research needs to expand the evidence base for aging-related consequences of cancer treatment, such as studies to examine aging-related processes that include regularly performed assessments capturing factors associated with physical function or studies to elucidate pathways that lead to the emergence of aging phenotypes and to understand the relationships between biomarkers of aging and functional outcomes in cancer survivors. In addition, study inclusion of older adults with comorbidities and higher levels of frailty has been proposed to achieve an improved understanding of functional outcomes at any age. Hypotheses / objectives We hypothesize that prostate cancer radiotherapy accelerates aging-related processes, furthermore, aging-related biomarkers may predict functional outcomes and represent early indicators of aging phenotypes. Primary objectives of the proposed study are the determination of the aging-related consequences of radiotherapy in prostate cancer patients and the evaluation of the relationship between biomarkers of aging and age-related clinical conditions.

Physical Activity Experiment on Male Prostate Cancer Patients

Cancer Prostate

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in France (56,841 cases in 2012). Although the benefits of physical activity (PA) in cancer patients are currently well established in the scientific literature, several studies have shown that this population is not sufficiently active. Strengthen patient adherence to prevention counseling by the physical activity (PA) is emerging as a new challenge for personalized treatment in oncology. In order to encourage the engagement and maintenance in a regular PA of cancer patients, first, their experiences of physical activity (PA) practice should be considered and their initial social representations of the practice considered. Secondarily, it is also important to identify health professionals who retain a key role in defining the framework, objectives and means of action to promote lifestyle changes towards a more active lifestyle. In addition, peer mentoring appears to offer promising perspectives for promoting adherence and long-term maintenance in physical activity (PA) of cancer patients.

Randomized Trial of Trust in Online Videos About Prostate Cancer

Prostate Cancer

The study team will evaluate the impact of video characteristics on health consumers' trust in online videos. Participants will be randomized to watch a video by one of four speakers about prostate cancer screening or clinical trials and complete a questionnaire (approximately 15 minutes total).

Evaluation of the SENSEI® Laparoscopic Tethered Gamma Probe for 99mTc-nanocolloid Sentinel Lymph...

Prostate Cancer

This study is a prospective, open label, single-arm study to examine the performance and safety of the SENSEI® laparoscopic tethered gamma probe in patients undergoing 99mTc-nanocolloid SLNB for prostate cancer (PCa) during RP and ePLND surgery. Patients scheduled for RP and ePLND using the standard treatment pathways at each centre will have preoperative 99mTc-nanocolloid imaging. RP and ePLND will be conducted as standard of care, with SLNB guided by the SENSEI® laparoscopic tethered gamma probe carried out after RP and prior to ePLND. The first 2 patients per site (N = 10 in total) are considered to be sufficient to enable further familiarisation with the procedure and use of the probe in addition to the usability work and training that the sites did prior to the start of this study. Subsequent patients will be evaluable for the PP population. The primary analysis of diagnostic performance will be performed using the PP population of patients with SLN identified on preoperative imaging

Low-dose Neuroleptanalgesia for Postoperative Delirium in Elderly Patients

Stomach NeoplasmsColonic Neoplasms10 more

Postoperative delirium(POD)is a common complication that can directly affect important clinical outcomes, and exert an enormous burden on patients, their families, hospitals, and public resources. In order to evaluate whether an intraoperative administration of low-dose neuroleptanalgesia reduces postoperative delirium, droperidol 1.25 mg and fentanyl 0.025 mg or normal saline is used by intravenous injection 30 minutes before the end of the operation, in elderly patients with non-cardiac major surgery under general anesthesia. The efficiency and safety of neuroleptanalgesia on the incidence of POD would be evaluated in elderly patients.
