Proteinuria in Liver Transplantation, a Single Egyptian Center Study
Liver Transplant; ComplicationsProteinuria has been suggested to be a predictive factor and an important tool for differentiating the etiology of renal dysfunction in various clinical scenarios .The good predictive performance of preoperative proteinuria utilized for the development of renal failure after operation has been reported . In the literature, prognostic significance of several scoring systems for end-stage liver disease has been validated . The Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) system was found to be superior to ChildPugh points (CP points) and Model for End-Stage Liver Disease (MELD) score, and postoperative day 7 SOFA had the best discriminative power for predicting 3-month and 1-year mortality after liver transplantation . Renal dysfunction is one of the most significant adverse events in patients awaiting or undergoing a liver transplant, and its occurrence generally indicates a high rate of poor prognosis
Empagliflozin in Patients With Glomerulonephritis
GlomerulonephritisProteinuriaSodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors are newly developed antihyperglycemic medications. In addition to their glucose lowering properties, they have been shown to have favourable effects on the cardiovascular and renal outcome in patients with diabetes. one of the most interesting renal effects is reduction of proteinuria. The aim of our study was examine the effect of SGLT inhibitors on proteinuria in patients with glomerulonephritis. This study is a randomised controlled trial.
Prolongation of Pregnancy in Preeclampsia by Therapeutic Lipid Apheresis
PreeclampsiaDyslipidemia2 morePreeclampsia is a disease which occurs in about 6-8% of all pregnancies and is the main cause of maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. The cause of preeclampsia is still not clear and the only therapy is preterm caesarean section. In severe preeclampsia an accumulation of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins occurs. Therefore, lipid apheresis is performed as lipid-removing therapy for treatment of preeclampsia in order to prolong pregnancy and provide the fetus more time for maturation. In this individual treatment patients with early preeclampsia (<= 32 weeks of gestation) will be offered a H.E.L.P.-apheresis to postpone caesarean section and therefore prolong pregnancy.
Treatment of Early Immunoglobulin A Nephropathy by Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Inhibitor - A Randomized...
Biopsy-confirmed IgA NephropathyProteinuria Less Than 0.5 g Per Day2 moreImmunoglobulin A (IgA) nephropathy is the most common type of primary glomerulonephritis in the world. The treatment of IgA nephropathy with normal renal function and minimal proteinuria is unknown. Since angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors reduce proteinuria and retard the rate of decline of renal function in chronic proteinuric nephropathies, including IgA nephropathy. The investigators conduct a randomized control study to evaluate the efficacy of ACE inhibitor in the treatment of early IgA nephropathy. Sixty patients with biopsy-proven IgA nephropathy and minimal proteinuria are recruited. They will be randomized to ramipril for 5 years or no treatment. Blood pressure, proteinuria and renal function will be monitored. This study will explore the effects of ACE inhibitor in the treatment of early IgA nephropathy, which is a major cause of dialysis-dependent renal failure.
Study of Atorvastatin Dose Dependent Reduction of Proteinuria
Chronic Kidney DiseaseRandomized controlled double blind study of parallel groups to evaluate the comparative effects of low-dose of atorvastatin on proteinuria in patients with stage 3 or 4 chronic kidney disease.
Prospective Study of TW in the Treatment of LN Type V With Gross Proteinuria
Lupus NephritisProteinuria1 moreThe purpose of this study is to analyze the clinical effects and adverse reactions of tripterygium glycosides (TW) and CTX in LN-V patients with gross proteinuria.
Olmesartan Medoxomil and Diabetic Nephropathy
Type 2 Diabetes MellitusDiabetic Nephropathy2 moreEvaluation of several olmesartan dosages compared to losartan on proteinuria, renal function and inflammatory markers in patients with diabetic nephropathy
High Doses of Candesartan Cilexetil on the Reduction of Proteinuria
ProteinuriaThe purpose of this study is to assess the effects of high doses of candesartan cilexetil and also to assess which dose (16mg, 64mg, 128mg) is the most optimal for the maximum reduction of proteinuria.
ORIENT: Olmesartan Reducing Incidence of End Stage Renal Disease in Diabetic Nephropathy Trial
Diabetic NephropathyType 2 Diabetes Mellitus1 moreThe purpose of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of olmesartan versus placebo on the progression of diabetic renal disease.
Acthar for Treatment-Resistant or Treatment-Intolerant Proteinuria
Idiopathic Focal Segmental GlomerulosclerosisFocal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) is a condition that harms the kidney "filters" that remove waste from the blood. Proteins are supposed to stay in the blood. Damaged "filters" let protein get into the kidney. FSGS is a serious condition that can lead to kidney failure. The only treatment for kidney failure is dialysis or kidney transplant. Proteinuria means too much protein came through the kidneys into the urine. If the doctor cannot figure out what is causing the problem, it is primary (idiopathic) FSGS. This kind of FSGS is very hard to treat. This study will test Acthar in patients with this condition who have not responded to other treatments. It primarily investigates how well the therapy is tolerated by the patients and how well they respond to this treatment.
