Randomized Comparison of the RePneu Lung Volume Reduction Coil (LVRC) to Standard of Care for the...
EmphysemaThe objective of this study is to demonstrate the safety and performance of the PneumRx, Inc. Lung Volume Reduction Coil (LVRC) in a population of patients with emphysema. The PneumRx, Inc. LVRC is used as a less invasive alternative to lung volume reduction surgery.
Evaluation of the PneumRx Lung Volume Reduction Coil to Treat Emphysema
EmphysemaThe objective of this study is to demonstrate the safety of the PneumRx Lung Volume Reduction Coil (LVRC) in a population of patients with emphysema. The PneumRx, Inc. LVRC is a used as a less invasive alternative to lung volume reduction surgery. The PneumRx LVRC is designed as an alternative to lung volume reduction surgery, potentially achieving the desired reduction in lung volume limiting the risks associated with major surgery, such as illness or death. This device is deployed through a bronchoscope and requires no incision.
A Safety and Feasibility Study of Re-treating Patients With Severe Emphysema With the RePneu LVRC...
COPDEmphysemaRationale: The combined data from 3 studies outside the Unites States investigating the Lung Volume Reduction Coil system (RePneu LVRC) showed statistically significant improvements in pulmonary function, exercise capacity and quality of life at both 6-Months and 12-Months post treatment. 24 months post treatment the improved pulmonary function and exercise capacity are slightly decreasing. Retreating the patient with the LVR coil system in other parts of the lung could potentially lead to new improvements in lung function, dyspnea, exercise capacity and quality of life and may reduce the rate of decline. Objective: To investigate the safety and feasibility of re-treating patients with severe Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) with the RePneu LVRC system.
Implantation of Endobronchial Valves Versus Intrabronchial Valves in Patients With Severe Heterogeneous...
Pulmonary EmphysemaPatients with advanced heterogeneous emphysema experience improvement in clinical outcomes in the same way following either implantation of endobronchial valves or intrabronchial valves.
Belimumab Treatment of Emphysema Patients With Anti-GRP78 Autoantibodies
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary DiseaseEmphysemaThis is intended to be an initial "proof-of-concept" study to show feasibility, validate assays and approaches, and explore dosing and safety of belimumab in pulmonary emphysema patients who have clinically relevant (and quantifiable) autoimmune responses. The primary goal is to determine effects of belimumab on levels of autoantibodies against glucose regulated protein 78 (GRP78) among patients with pulmonary emphysema attributable to cigarette smoking. The investigators hypothesize that belimumab treatment will safely reduce circulating levels of autoantibodies that are associated with emphysema, and comorbidities of this lung disease, including atherosclerosis.
Bronchoscopic Thermal Vapor Ablation (BTVA) for Lung Volume Reduction
EmphysemaChronic Obstructive Pulmonary DiseaseTo establish and confirm the safety and clinical utility of BTVA applied unilaterally for lung volume reduction in patients with upper lobe predominate heterogeneous severe emphysema.
AeriSeal System for Lung Volume Reduction
EmphysemaChronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)2 moreThe purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of AeriSeal treatment in patients with advanced emphysema.
PROCHYMAL™ (Human Adult Stem Cells) for the Treatment of Moderate to Severe Chronic Obstructive...
Pulmonary DiseaseChronic Obstructive2 moreThe objective of the present study is to establish the safety and efficacy of multiple administrations of Prochymal™(ex-vivo cultured human adult mesenchymal stem cells) in participants with moderate to severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Randomized Comparison of Awake Nonresectional Versus Nonawake Resectional Lung Volume Reduction...
Pulmonary EmphysemaLung volume reduction surgery is effective in improving pulmonary function and quality of life in selected patients with severe emphysema although the morbidity of this surgical procedure is still considerable. Morbidity is mainly addressed to general anesthesia-related adverse effects and surgical trauma deriving from lung resection. Having developed an awake nonresectional lung volume reduction surgery technique, which is performed under sole thoracic epidural anesthesia, we have hypothesized that it could offer satisfactory clinical results and reduced morbidity rate when compared with the conventional surgical procedure.
US Biologic Lung Volume Reduction (BLVR) Phase 2 Emphysema Study
Pulmonary EmphysemaChronic Obstructive Pulmonary DiseaseThe purpose of this study it to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the 20 mL BLVR System in patients with advanced upper lobe predominant emphysema.
