This study is to evaluate the safety and the efficacy of Prograf in patients with interstitial pneumonia associated with polymyositis / dermatomyositis in acute clinical setting.

Multi-Drug resistant pathogens (MDR) are reported worldwide with increasing incidence, especially in intensive care settings. One of the drugs which are effective against MDRs, is colistin (polymyxin E). This agent has been reintroduced in response to the increase of MDR pathogens and might be used more often in the future. Data on safety regarding the most important side effects are not sufficiently available. l This study evaluates the toxicity in patients who receive aerosolized colistin.

To study the drug-related pneumonitis during mTOR inhibitor therapy in patients with metastatic breast cancer.

Previous research has shown that people who have been hospitalised for pneumonia are more likely to die of conditions such as heart attacks, stroke and cancer in the weeks to months after their illness. This risk is linked to raised levels of inflammation. Laboratory research shows that vitamin D can help to clear inflammation. Vitamin D deficiency is very common in the United Kingdom. The investigators are conducting this study to find out if taking vitamin D can hasten long-term recovery from pneumonia by reducing inflammation.

This project will test the effect of nicorandil to mitigate the lung damage that can occur as a side effect of radiation therapy for lung cancer. Thousands of veterans develop lung cancer every year, and are treated by radiation therapy. Studies of lung radiation injury in laboratory animals show that with nicorandil, investigators can significantly reduce the severity of lung fibrosis and heart toxicity.1,2 Nicorandil is FDA approved and in common use for treatment of angina. These studies will advance that work to human use. Successful mitigation of lung radiation damage and heart toxicity will improve the quality of life in veterans and non-veterans who are treated for lung cancer by radiation, and may also improve cure rates of radiation therapy for lung cancer.

The purpose of this clinical trial is to evaluate the safety when HL301 is administered to unresectable non-small cell lung cancer patients who receive chemoradiotherapy with Paclitaxel and Carboplatin and to search for a clinically appropriate dose by evaluating the efficacy by comparing the radiation pneumonia incidence rate with the control group.
