Endothelial Function (Reactive Hyperemia)Background: The impact of demographic changes on workplace has increased the importance of effective occupational preventive health programs. The primary goal of these programs is the improvement of overall health status (and therefore increase productivity and decrease healthcare costs) of the increasingly older workforce through positive lifestyle behavior change. A one- year preventive health behavior-change program for the employees of the company British Petrol (BP) shall be scientifically evaluated. The initial stage of the program consists of a health-behavior seminar and six weeks (twice a week for 90 minutes) of supervised endurance exercise (i.e. jogging, nordic walking, cycling or swimming) in groups. In the second phase of the program, the participants receive a recommendation to continue exercise regularly unsupervised for one year, and receive monthly supervised exercise training sessions. Clinical check-ups are performed at baseline (V1) at three months (V2) and at 12 months (V3).
Pharmacokinetics and Safety of Topical Administration of Brimonidine Tartrate Ophthalmic Solution...
HyperemiaTo characterize the plasma pharmacokinetics and safety profile of brimonidine following a single dose and 4 times per day (QID) dosing of brimonidine tartrate ophthalmic solution 0.025% for 7 days in healthy, adult subjects.
Effect of Polymorphisms in the Adenosine a2a Receptor Gene and AMPD2 Gene on Adenosine-Induced Vasodilation...
Blood Flow in Healthy VolunteersThe endogenous nucleoside adenosine can induce various cardiovascular and neurohumoral effects by stimulation of specific adenosine receptors. taken together these effects protect against ischaemia-reperfusion injury of (myocardial)muscles and agsinst the development of atherosclerosis. Genetic variations in genes encoding for adenosine receptors or for enzymes involved in the formation or breakdown of adenosine could potentially modulate these effects. In this study, we aim to determine the functional effects of two frequent genetic polymorphisms in the adenosine receptor and AMPdeaminase (involved in the formation of adenosine) on the vascular effects of adenosine.
The Effect of Oketani Massage on Breastfeeding Success and Breast Engorgement in Mothers Delivering...
BreastfeedingEngorgement of Breast Associated With Childbirth1 moreThe aim of this study was to examine the effect of octani massage on breastfeeding success and breast engorgement in mothers who gave birth by cesarean section. The research was carried out in the gynecology service of Ağrı Training and Research Hospital between November 2022 and April 2023. The universe of the study consisted of mothers who were hospitalized in the gynecology service of Ağrı Training and Research Hospital between November 2022 and April 2023 and gave birth by cesarean section. The Open Epi calculation tool was used to determine the sample of the study. The sample calculation was made on the average score differences in the Open Epi info program. Accordingly, it was planned to include 106 mothers, 53 of whom were in the control group and 53 in the massage group. Considering the sample loss to be experienced during data collection, a total of 116 mothers, 58 in the control group and 58 in the massage group, were included in the study. Randomization of the groups participating in the study was made as simple randomization using the www.random.org site. Introductory Characteristics Questionnaire, oketany massage follow-up form, breast engorgement assessment scale and LATCH breastfeeding diagnostic measurement tool were used to collect the research data.
Quantifying the Venous Congestion Curve of a Tissue Oximetry Device
Post-Op ComplicationSkin Flap NecrosisThe purpose of this research study is to measure rate of decline and pattern of tissue oxygenation using the device, ViOptix T.Ox. ViOptix probes will be secured to the arm and hand. The recording process on the ViOptix machine will begin and obtain baseline StO2 levels for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, a blood pressure cuff will be inflated on one arm. This blood pressure cuff will be left inflated for 10-20 minutes. Every 2 minutes a pulse check or doppler exam will be performed at your wrist. Last, the cuff will be deflated and the you will be free to leave the study room.
Safety of Brimonidine Tartrate Ophthalmic Solution in a Population of Pediatric, Adult, and Geriatric...
HyperemiaTo compare the safety and tolerability of brimonidine tartrate ophthalmic solution 0.025% versus its vehicle in a population of pediatric, adult, and geriatric participants. At least 51% of participants will be 40 years of age or older.
Nitrate Supplementation and Muscle Blood Flow
VasodilationBlood Pressure2 moreThe main purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of an acute dose of dietary nitrate in the form of beetroot juice on skeletal muscle blood flow in response to dynamic knee extension exercise in healthy older adults. All subjects will receive active (rich in dietary nitrate) or placebo (devoid of nitrate) supplementation.
Acupuncture for Breast Engorgement During Lactation
Breast EngorgementBreast engorgement which may manifest swell, throb, and cause mild to extreme pain is the common difficulty for breast feeding woman. It occurs in the mammary glands due to expansion and pressure exerted by the synthesis and storage of breast milk and it usually happens when the breasts switch from colostrums to mature milk. However, engorgement can also happen if lactating women miss several nursing and not enough milk is expressed from the breasts. It can be exacerbated by insufficient breastfeeding and/or blocked milk ducts. Engorgement may lead to mastitis and untreated engorgement puts pressure on the milk ducts, often causing a plugged duct. According the meridian theory, the investigators propose the acupuncture treatment for patients of breast engorgement. The investigators will include 60 patients and measure the acupuncture effect. The inclusion criteria are women with breast engorgement and 20 years old or older. Exclusion standards are patients with: 1. diabetes mellitus 2. Psychological disease or mental illness 3. Fever > 38 degrees Celsius 4. Mastitis 5.analgetics or anti - inflammatory agents used 6. ultrasound therapy applied
Usability of Ringed Polytetrafluoroethylene Graft for Venous Vascular Reconstruction of Living Donor...
PatencyHepatic Venous CongestionMiddle hepatic vein (MHV) reconstruction with an interposition vessel graft has been settled as a standard procedure for living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) using a right lobe graft. Increasing demand of vessel graft in the situation of limited resources of allograft led the investigators to search for new vessel substitutes. Since the use of thin-walled expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) graft showed poor long-term patency, a prospective study is going to be performed to enhance the clinical usability of expanded PTFE graft. A clinical study intends to know how to maintain its luminal flow effectively by using ringed PTFE graft. During 12 months of study period, ringed PTFE graft will be used for reconstruction of MHV reconstruction. The investigators expect that ringed PTFE graft seems to be a more useful alternative than usual PTFE graft when adequate autologous or allogenic vessel graft is not available.
Cerebral Blood Perfusion Changes After General Anesthesia for Craniotomy
Brain NeoplasmsSurgery1 moreFew studies look into cerebral blood flow (CBF) changes during emergence from general anesthesia for craniotomy. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate CBF changes during emergence from general anesthesia for craniotomy, through monitoring blood oxygen saturation of jugular vein bulb and transcranial Doppler.
