Surgical Excision and Intralesional Steroid Injection for Prevention of Post Caesarean Keloid Recurrence...

Keloid

Two groups of patients (73 patients each) undergoing routine caesarean section has recurrent keloid at site of surgical scar. One group will undergo surgical excision of keloid. The other group will have combined surgical excision of keloid and single intralesional dexamethasone injection at edges of wound. All patients were reviewed once per month for 6 months for evidence of recurrence

Chidamide Plus DCAG for Relapsed/Refractory AML

AMLRelapse

Despite advances in understanding the complexities of acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), the treatment of refractory or relapsed AML (rrAML) remains a daunting clinical challenge. The investigators designed a new regimen, including chidamide, decitabine, aclarubincin, cytarabine and G-CSF, to treat rrAML.

FACBC for Recurrent Prostate Cancer

Recurrent Prostate Cancer

The investigators will perform a study with 25 patients in whom the investigators have a strong suspicion of prostate cancer that has returned to the body after having an initial treatment. The major goal of the investigation is to see whether anti-[18F] FACBC PET-CT and MRI imaging individually will be useful in the detection of local and extraprostatic recurrence of prostate cancer. Routine blood test will be done on the day of the FACBC scan and one week later as required by the FDA. All patients will undergo biopsy of the prostate as clinically appropriate per standard of care. If either the FACBC or MRI scans indicate cancer recurrence, the subject's cancer site(s) will also be biopsied as clinically appropriate.

Twitter-enabled Mobile Messaging for Smoking Relapse Prevention

Smoking

In Phase I (N=40), we developed a treatment protocol for smoking cessation and relapse prevention that used virtual quit-smoking Twitter groups and Twitter-enabled interactive peer messaging. We tested and refined this protocol using two quit-smoking Twitter groups. In Phase II (N=160), we conducted a two-arm (test vs. control) randomized controlled trial of the treatment protocol created in Phase I. In Phase III (N=80) we ran additional quit-smoking Twitter groups and tested various interventions to increase engagement in the intervention, e.g., peer leaders. This research provided crucial data about the viability and methodology to be used in a larger randomized controlled trial that would directly measure smoking behavior.

Breast Cancer Recurrence - the Accuracy of Dual-time PET/CT

Breast Cancer Recurrent

The purpose of this study is to elucidate the value of dual-time-point PET/CT in the recurrence of breast cancer and to determine whether the method is better than the modalities used in the standard work up. 150 patients with suspected breast cancer recurrence will be included. All patients will undergo dual-time-point PET/CT, CT of thorax and upper abdomen and bone scintigraphy. After completion of the examinations the early and the late PET/CT scan will be compared with each other, the diagnostic CT-scan and the bone scintigraphy. A verification of suspicious findings will be done by biopsy, if the area is accessible. If a biopsy cannot be obtained, the presence of recurrence will be verified with additional imaging follow-up to ensure the highest possible confidence. Sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, negative and positive predictive value (NPV/PPV) will be calculated for each modality (incl. early and late PET/CT).

Efficacy of Vitamin D and Calcium Supplementation on the Prevention of Recurrences in BPPV

Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo

The purpose of this study is to determine whether the supplementation of vitamin D and calcium prevents recurrences of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo in patients with vitamin D deficiency/insufficiency.

Antipyretics for Preventing Recurrences of Febrile Seizures

Recurrence of Febrile Seizure

We wanted to find out if the early use of antipyretics is capable in preventing recurrences of febrile seizures. When a child has had his/her first febrile seizure, the parents were instructed to give him/her antipyretic medication every time when the child had a new episode of fever during two years.

High-Density (HD) Wave Mapping in Subjects With Atrial Fibrillation as a Predictor of Recurrence...

Paroxysmal Atrial FibrillationPersistent Atrial Fibrillation1 more

The aim is to use the GRID to characterize the atrial substrate and develop a model for predicting recurrence rates after a single procedure using a PVI only approach and a contact catheter.
