The goal of this prospective, observational, multicentre cohort study is to assess the trajectory of the experiences (both positive and negative) and health-related quality of life (HRQOL) of informal caregivers of patients who start home dialysis, and compare these to experiences and HRQOL of informal caregivers of patients who start in-centre hemodialysis. The investigators hypothesise that informal caregivers of home dialysis patients experience more positive experiences, but also more negative experiences, and still have better HRQoL, compared with caregivers of in-centre HD patients. Participants will fill in five different validated questionnaires and questions on required support. Participants are asked to fill in the questionnaires after inclusion (i.e., start of dialysis), and at 6 and 12 months after start dialysis.

It is a multicenter, prospective, non-interventional cohort study, in order to evaluate the safety of oral resin for treatment of hyperkalemia in Chinese patients with renal insufficiency.

This is a pilot study which will be done in a small number of patients. The purpose of this study is to test the safety and benefit of giving a type of chemotherapy - cyclophosphamide - after the transplant to prevent graft versus host disease (GVHD) in patients with abnormal kidney function. GVHD is one of the most common complications of a stem cell transplant .

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of epinephrine on systemic absorption of local anaesthetic mepivacaine administered for brachial plexus block in uremic patients scheduled for creation or repair of an arteriovenous fistula. Furthermore, an impact of epinephrine on the central circulation and peripheral tissue oxygenation will be evaluated.

Patients with end-stage renal disease on dialysis (ESRD5D) are 4-5x more likely to suffer from a fracture. Fractures can occur spontaneously but typically occur after a fall. Further, 70-90% of patients with ESRD5D are vitamin D deficient. Vitamin D supplementation has become routine care for many in this patient population, but evidence is lacking to support this practice. The proposed projects objective is to gather needed preliminary data regarding the effects of vitamin D supplementation on balance and muscle strength in patients with ESRD5D.

This is a global, multi-center, prospective, post-market, confirmatory, interventional, non-randomized, single-arm clinical investigation evaluating arteriovenous fistula (AVF) creation by means of the WavelinQ™ EndoAVF System in patients who require a vascular access for hemodialysis (HD).

Balloon angioplasty is used to open up a narrowing that forms in hemodialysis fistula. Two areas of particular problems are the terminal portion of the cephalic vein near the shoulder and the central veins in the chest. Although angioplasty is standard of care the treated narrowed segments of vein mostly renarrow within 3 months requiring retreatment to keep your dialysis access functional. Recently there has been introduction of a new technology called a covered stent graft. Initial studies suggest that placing this device across the area of narrowing leads to dialysis access staying open longer and needing less angioplasty treatments. This study is designed to compare angioplasty (standard of care) versus using a covered stent graft. The investigators will then look at the dialysis records and future fistulograms to see if there is decreased flow through the fistula at 3, 6 and 12 months after the initial procedure.

This blinded, controlled study will examine the impact of pomegranate polyphenol extract (POMx, from Pom Wonderful, LLC), 1000mg on cardiomyopathy in subjects with chronic renal insufficiency.

The main purpose of this study is to examine the effect of add-on therapy with the direct renin inhibitor Aliskiren in comparison to placebo on renal blood flow in patients with heart failure and reduced renal function. The primary objectives of this study are to evaluate the pharmacokinetics (PK) following administration of gabapentin in Japanese epileptic patients with renal impairment to confirm if there are any clinically relevant differences between the plasma gabapentin concentration simulated by population PK model, which was used for the evidence of the dose adjustment for the patients with renal impairment, and observed plasma gabapentin concentration.
