Effectiveness of Web-based Teaching to Traditional Patient Education in the Use of Injectable Fertility...

Infertility

The study will be a prospective randomized trial involving human subjects. The study population will consist of all infertility patients presenting to the Carolinas Medical Center Women's Institute who will require injectable use. Exclusion criteria: Any patient with prior history of IVF injectable use will be excluded from the study. Independent Variables: The independent variable is the random assignment of each participant to receive either web-based or one on one teaching. Outcome Variables: The primary outcome variable is the level of knowledge after the intervention. Secondary outcome variables include level of satisfaction with education, preference of educational method, and time required to teach. Confounding Variables: Potentially confounding variables include age, race, and prior experience with web-based teaching.

Incidence of Early Pregnancy Loss in Patients With Unexplained Infertility

Infertility

Unexplained fertility could be partly caused by a higher incidence of early pregnancy loss in this group. 65 women with unexplained infertility and 65 healthy controls will collect daily urine samples form the luteal phase. hCG and creatinine levels are measured in order to detect pregnancies and early pregnancy loss.

Efficacy Study of the Embryo Transfer Catheter

A prospective randomized trial comparing Cook K-SOFT-5100 and Frydman classical catheter 4.5 for embryo transfer in human IVF/ICSI was performed. Three experienced operators participated in the trial, using a fixed distance transfer protocol. Primary endpoint was clinical pregnancy rate, secondary endpoints were rates of difficult transfer and of catheter failure. Patients were randomized by a computer program immediately prior to embryo transfer.

Identification of Viable Human Embryos Using Three Different Methods

Infertility affects an increasing number of couples. For many, the choice of treatment is in vitro fertilization (IVF) . Currently, there are no markers fully predictive of developmental competence of IVF embryos. Present embryo selection is based on morphology assessment, which produces implantation rates in the range of 20%-30 %. The overall purpose of the present study is to investigate methods for selection of the best embryo. We aim to examine the relationship between pregnancy outcome and the transcriptional profile of selected genes, cleavage kinetics (time-lapse), and metabolic profile. We hypothesise that the quality of the embryo is reflected by the transcription of selected genes, the cleavage kinetics, and the metabolic profile. If so, these parameters can predict the success or failure of a pregnancy. Furthermore, the interrelationship - if any - between these parameters will be evaluated. A secondary aim is to evaluate the effect of blastomere biopsy using time-lapse and metabolic analysis

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of marked alterations in ovarian steroid hormones on cognitive functions in women. Sex hormones and stress hormones of women awaiting or undergoing in-vitro fertilization (IVF) will be compared with levels of women adopting children and women on oral contraceptives.

Our data indicate that environmental exposure to the heavy metal lead are more widespread than currently appreciated and that such exposures are associated with the production of human male subfertility. Lead's effects are observed in male partners of infertile couples attending an IVF clinical, in men acting as semen donors in an artificial insemination program and in men representative of the general public. Our goal is to identify the mechanism(s) underlying lead's anti-fertility action.

Single blind randomized controlled study in which 80 patients coming for hystroscopy due to multiple indication as infertility, AUB and missed IUD were assigned for our study. Both Sample size and randomization were done by a computer program. Patients were classified into 2 groups, group 1 study group was subjected to intracervical injection of 5 mi of mepivacaine hydrochloride at position 3 and 9 of the vaginal portion of the cervix, and at least 5 minutes post injection before procedure done. The control group received NSAI injection 15 minutes before procedure and 5 ml of saline was injected in each side of cervix at 3 9 positions. Hystroscopy was done if an abnormality is detected an intervention was done. A descriptive scale of pain was done into mild, moderate or severe (that lead to interruption of the procedures).

The aim of the study was to estimate the percentage and of Treg, Th17 and NKT in peripheral blood and the tissue of the epithelial ovarian tumor and relationship with blood serum level of HE4, CA125, as well as algorithm ROMA. Material and methods Mononuclear cells (PBMCs) were isolated by density gradient centrifugation obtained from peripheral blood and ovarian tissue of patient suffering ovarian pathology. Patient from control group underwent surgery for unexplanied infertility. The percentage of Treg and Th17 , NKT in peripheral blood and the tissue was assessed using the flow cytometry method according to the manufacturer's instructions. The ROMA index was calculated according to the levels of HE4 and CA-125 in serum.
