Comparison Of The Effects Of Inspiratory Muscle Training Methods in Mechanically Ventilated Patients...

Mechanical VentilationIntensive Care Units

Inspiratory Muscle Training(IMT) increases the strength and endurance of the inspiratory muscles, exercise capacity, quality of life and reduces the perception of dyspnea. It has been reported in the literature that it also has an effect on mechanical ventilated patients in the intensive care unit. In patients on mechanical ventilation, IMT is applied with modification of trigger sensitivity and with an external device. The aim of this study is to compare the effects of inspiratory muscle training with external device and MV modification on respiratory muscle strength and intubation time

MR-spectroscopy in Post-covid Condition Prior to and Following a Yoga Breathing Intervention

Post COVID-19 ConditionSomatic Symptom Disorder

From a clinical perspective, we find that many patients with Post COVID condition suffer from severe and debilitating shortness of breath, while routine pulmonary investigations fail to find the cause of the problems experienced. If dyspnea is associated with palpitations, dizziness or anxiety, patients are commonly diagnosed with "dysfunctional breathing". From a psychosomatic perspective, the symptom of dysfunctional breathing can be classified as a "functional symptom" under the umbrella term of somatic symptom disorder. Therefore, Yoga interventions with special emphasis on breath-guided relaxation are a promising approach. We aim to investigate the psycho-somatic and somato-psychic pathophysiology on a morphological, psychological, functional and biological basis underlying the symptom of dysfunctional breathing. Furthermore, we plan to investigate the mechanism of Yoga intervention on the mental and somatic symptom burden of participants with Post COVID condition. Then, we aim to compare the impact of Yoga on other groups - healthy individuals, patients with chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD), as well as those with somatic symptom disorder. As a control intervention to Yoga guided breathing exercises a social contact group will be used.

Evaluate the Therapeutic Effect of Inhaled Corticosteroid in Asthmatic Children

Asthma

Inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) is considered the first line medication for asthma, however, the therapeutic effect is markedly different even in patients with almost similar clinical manifestations. Our study was designed to explore the clinical and genetic factors that may influence the effectiveness of ICS in asthmatic children.

Inspiratory Muscle Training Prior to Conventional and Minimal Invasive Heart Surgery

Coronary Artery Bypass Graft SurgeryValve Replacement2 more

The main objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of pre-operative Inspiratory muscle training (IMT) using an IMT Threshold device (Philips), on early postoperative lung function recovery and on the occurrence of post-operative pulmonary complications (PPC) after major cardiothoracic surgery with and without sternotomy. As frailty can affect postoperative outcome, the relation between frailty, maximal inspiratory pressure (MIP) and post-operative outcome is investigated additionally.

The Effect of Progressive Relaxation and Breathing Exercises Accompanied by Music on the Stress...

StressStress1 more

This clinical study will be conducted to determine the effects of musically accompanied progressive muscle relaxation and deep breathing exercises on nursing students' stress levels and bio-psycho-social responses to stress. Do musical progressive muscle relaxation and deep breathing exercises have an impact on nursing students' stress levels and bio-psycho-social responses to stress? After students fill in the scales, they will be randomly assigned to the experimental and control groups. The experimental group will be given progressive muscle relaxation and deep breathing exercises accompanied by music once a week for six weeks by the researcher. There will be no intervention in the control group. The scales will be reapplied to the experimental and control groups in the week after the application is completed and two weeks after the application is completed. Groups will be compared and statistical analyzes will be made.

Effects of Breathing Exercises in Women With Chronic Pelvic Pain

Chronic Pelvic Pain SyndromePelvic Floor; Relaxation2 more

The primary cause of the complex interaction of chronic pelvic pain originates from the visceral organs in the pelvic cavity, and it has been observed that musculoskeletal dysfunctions (such as increased muscle activity in the pelvic floor muscles) are often accompanied by visceral painful stimuli in the pelvic region as a result of shared innervation and visceral-somatic convergence. This study aims to investigate the effect of breathing exercises combined with pelvic floor exercises on pain, pelvic floor muscle activity, psychological factors, and quality of life in women with chronic pelvic pain.

A Clinical Study on the Effects of Inhalation of Volatile Oil of Cang-Ai Via the Nose on Patients...

Depressive DisorderMental Disorder in Adolescence

In this study, 60 depressed patients who meet the criteria will randomly be divided into a test group and a control group, with 30 patients in each group. The test group will be given Volatile oil of Cang-Ai (hereafter referred to as CAVO) for inhalation and the control group will be given Bergamot for inhalation. The observation indicators are that after one and two sessions of the intervention, the patients' blood pressure, heart rate, depression scale scores, and changes in functional near-infrared spectroscopy(fNIRS). This randomized controlled trial will be used to look at the clinical efficacy of CAVO in patients with depression.

Impact of Anesthesia Maintenance Methods on 5-year Survival After Surgery

AgedNeoplasms7 more

Surgery is one of the major treatment methods for patients with solid organ cancer. And, alone with the ageing process, more and more elderly patients undergo surgery for cancer. Evidence emerges that choice of anesthetics, i.e., either inhalational or intravenous anesthetics, may influence the outcome of elderly patients undergoing cancer surgery. From the point of view of immune function after surgery and invasiveness of malignant tumor cells, propofol intravenous anesthesia may be superior to inhalational anesthesia. However, the clinical significance of these effects remains unclear. Retrospective studies indicated that use of propofol intravenous anesthesia was associated higher long-term survival rate. Prospective studies exploring the effect of anesthetic choice on long-term survival in cancer surgery patients are urgently needed.
