Comparison of Pre-oxygenation of NIV and HFNC Therapy for Intubation of ICU Patients With Acute...

Acute Respiratory FailureIntratracheal Intubation

The aim of the study is to evaluate the incidence of severe hypoxemia episodes during the intubation procedure with two methods of pre-oxygenation: NIV (Non Invasive Ventilation) HFNC (High-flow nasal canula oxygen therapy)

Mavrilimumab to Reduce Progression of Acute Respiratory Failure in COVID-19 Pneumonia and Systemic...

COVID-19Sars-CoV21 more

The purpose of this prospective, Phase 2, multicenter, blinded, randomized placebo controlled study is to demonstrate that early treatment with mavrilimumab prevents progression of respiratory failure in patients with severe COVID-19 pneumonia and clinical and biological features of hyper-inflammation.

COVid-19: Awake Proning and High-flow Nasal Cannula in respiratorY DistrEss

Coronavirus InfectionCOVID6 more

Prone positioning is an established intervention in mechanically ventilated acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) patients, with demonstrated reductions in mortality. Preliminary data suggest that awake proning in patients with COVID-19 treated with high-flow nasal oxygenation (HFNO) improves gas exchanges, and might be associated with a reduced need of mechanical ventilation, and reduced mortality. Further investigation in a formal randomized-controlled trial is need.

Comparison Between Limited Driving Pressure Ventilation and Conventional Mechanical Ventilation...

on Invasive Mechanical VentilationARDS1 more

Background An appropriated mechanical ventilator setting for acute respiratory failure results of ventilator associated lung injury. Limited driving pressure and low tidal volume ventilation strategies show benefits decreasing mortality in acute respiratory distress syndrome, but there are no data in simple acute respiratory failure.

Non Invasive Ventilation After Cardiac Surgery

Respiratory Failure

Patients with respiratory failure following cardiac surgery are randomized to receive standard therapy versus non invasive ventilation. The hypothesis is that patients receiving non invasive ventilation will perform better than those who received standard therapy.

High-flow Conditioned Oxygen Therapy Versus Non-invasive Ventilation: Prevention of Post-extubation...

Post-extubation Respiratory Failure

The main aim is to demonstrate whether the high flow conditioned oxygen therapy reduces the reintubation rate. Post-extubation respiratory failure risk will be stratified (as the randomization). In high risk patients high flow conditioned oxygen therapy will be compared with with not conditioned non-invasive mechanical ventilation. In low risk patients comparison will be conventional oxygen therapy. Hypercapnic patients will be excluded.

Weaning Children From Mechanical Ventilation:Computer-driven System Versus Usual Care

Respiratory Failure

The purpose of this study is to determine whether a computer-driven system (Smartcare/PS) decreases weaning duration from mechanical ventilation when compared to usual care in children.

The Use of the GlideScope Ranger in Pediatric Critical Care Transport

Respiratory Failure

This study seeks to assess the role of the GlideScope Ranger video laryngoscope in facilitating successful neonatal/pediatric intubation by pediatric critical care transport teams. The central hypothesis of this study is that the GlideScope Ranger video laryngoscope reduces the rates of failed intubation attempts by pediatric critical care transport teams. The aims of this project are designed to specifically: (1) Establish competencies for GlideScope Ranger video laryngoscopy-assisted intubation for pediatric and neonatal patients; and (2) Compare the intubation success rates for intubation using GlideScope Ranger video laryngoscopy and using conventional, direct laryngoscopy by pediatric and neonatal critical care transport teams.

The purpose of this study is to determine whether early mechanical ventilation can prevent hospital acquired pneumonia in adults with Guillain Barré Syndrome.

Assessment of PaO2/FiO2 Ratio Pre and POst INTubation

Acute Hypoxemic Respiratory Failure

We designed this study to dtermine whether invasive mechanical ventilation (MV) would have an impact on the reclassification of patients with acute hypoxemic respiratory failure (AHRF) -treated previously with non-invasive respiratory support- into categories of severity (mild, moderate, and severe). Our hypothesis is that the assessment of PaO2/FiO2 ratio on PEEP greater or equal to 5 cmH2O after intubation, in patients labeled as mild/moderate/severe AHRF while on non-invasive respiratory support, would identify that a marked proportion of patients would change the degree of severity after a brief period of invasive MV
