Macular Edema Secondary to Branch Retinal Vein Occlusion (BRVO)

This is a Phase IV, randomized, open-label, active-controlled, 2-arm, multicenter study. The primary objective was assessed by the difference in the mean number of ranibizumab injections applied up to Month 11 between the 2 treatment arms. Patients were randomized in a 1:1 ratio to 1 of the 2 treatment arms; i.e. Arm 1 ranibizumab monotherapy, Arm 2 ranibizumab with Grid&Direct short pulse laser photocoagulation combination therapy. There were 3 periods in this study: Screening Period (visit 1), Treatment Period (visit 2 to Visit 13) and Follow-up Period (visit 14). In addition to screening and Baseline (visit 2), there were monthly visits from Month 1 to Month 12. This study included male and female patients (≥20 years old) diagnosed with visual impairment due to ME secondary to BRVO.

SD-OCT Angiography

Neovascular Age-related Macular DegenerationAge-related Macular Degeneration3 more

The objective of this study is to image retinal vascular alterations in patients with retinal disease using the AngioVue OCT-A system and understand the information these images provide. The investigators will image study participants who have retinal diseases with the AngioVue unit (Optovue) and will collect relevant clinical data to understand the nature of the information contained in images obtained on AngioVue. This study being conducted under an abbreviated IDE. The investigators will analyze data using descriptive statistics. Risks related to light exposure will be managed by ensuring that the exposure to the AngioVue light source is well below maximum permissible limits for safe exposure.

Cool vs Room-temperature Artificial Tears

Diabetic Retinopathy With Macular Edema of Both Eyes (Diagnosis)Central Retinal Vein Occlusion With Macular Edema6 more

Background and Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of cooled versus room temperature artificial tears in reducing post intravitreal injection (IVI) ocular discomfort. Patients and Methods: Patients receiving IVI were randomized to either cooled or room temperature tears intervention groups. Both groups rated their ocular discomfort following IVI before intervention and again after administration of cooled or room temperature tears.

Treatment of Retinal Vein Occlusion (RVO) With Open-Label Anecortave Acetate (15mg.)

Retinal Vein Occlusion

Retinal Vein Occlusion is a blockage of the blood vessels that drain out of the retina. Complications of retinal vein occlusion which threaten vision include neovascularization(growth of new blood vessels)and macular edema ( accumulation of fluid "leaking" from abnormal blood vessels). Currently, the treatment of retinal vein occlusion is laser photocoagulation. This treatment has found to have limited use in this type of condition.Anecortave Acetate is being considered as an attempt to control the growth of the abnormal blood vessels.

Systemic Pharmacokinetics Following Intravitreal Injections of Anti-VEGF

Age-related Macular DegenerationDiabetic Macular Edema1 more

Comparable data for bevacizumab and aflibercept are lacking, as are studies comparing the systemic levels of ranibizumab, bevacizumab, and aflibercept and their relative effects on circulating vascular endothelial growth factor. In the present prospective study, the investigators evaluated serum drug levels and plasma free vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) levels in patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration following intravitreal injections of ranibizumab, bevacizumab and aflibercept.

Changes in the Diameter of Retinal Vessels After Remote Ischemic Conditioning

Retinal Artery OcclusionRetinal Vein Occlusion

Remote ischemic conditioning (RIC) is a therapeutic strategy for protecting organs or tissue against the detrimental effects of acute ischemia-reperfusion injury. It remains unknown whether this can be used in retinal vascular occlusive diseases. The purpose of the present study is to examine whether the autoregulation of retinal vessel diameters in normal persons change after remote ischemic conditioning.

Philadelphia Telemedicine Glaucoma Detection and Follow-Up Study

GlaucomaGlaucoma Suspect11 more

The goal is to conduct a 5-year prospective, randomized controlled trial to test an innovative, community-based intervention using posterior and anterior fundus photography of the optic nerve and macula and intraocular eye pressure measurements to improve access and utilization of eye care to detect, treat, and manage high-risk patients with previously undiagnosed glaucoma and other eye diseases. Research shows that subject failure to attend follow-up eye care appointments diminishes any previous benefits of community screenings for glaucoma. Greater adherence to follow-up visits can reduce glaucomatous blindness.
