Seasonal Allergic RhinitisSpecific immunotherapy, which involves the administration of allergic extracts to patients with symptoms of allergic disorder, is the leading therapeutical tool of modern allergology. According to the latest studies immunotherapy not only reduces symptoms' severity but also may modify the course of allergic disease by reducing the risk of new sensitisations and development of more advanced stages of the disease.It has been hypothesized basing on clinical observation that perennial immunotherapy is more effective and safer in comparison to preseasonal immunotherapy. The aim of the study was to compare the effect of perennial and preseasonal immunotherapy on rhinoconjunctivitis symptoms and safety of both treatments.

Mild Asthma and Allergic RhinitisThe purpose of this study is to examine the safety and effects on the immune system of treatment with GSK2245035 in subjects who suffer from nasal symptoms caused by an allergy to pollen or perennial allergen, with or without mild asthma. In addition, the effect of treatment with GSK2245035 on the body's allergic response in test situations will be explored. Approximately 28 subjects will receive GSK2245035 (up to 14 subjects each receiving 80 nanograms [ng] GSK2245035 and up to 14 subjects each receiving 20 ng GSK2245035) and 14 subjects will receive the dummy drug (placebo) during the study. Assignment of a subject to GSK2245035 or placebo will be done by chance, like flipping a coin. Neither the subjects nor the clinic staff will know whether a subject is being dosed with GSK2245035 or placebo during the course of the study. The study will include (a) Screening phase where the eligibility of subjects for enrolment will be assessed (b) Treatment phase during which subjects will receive either 8 nasal sprays of GSK2245035 80 ng or a matching placebo once weekly for 8 weeks (each dose will be split between the two nostrils). Subjects participating in this study in 2014 will receive a reduced dose of 20 ng i.n. of GSK2245035 once weekly for eight administrations (c) Follow-up period where any GSK2245035 induced changes to the immune system and the effect of treatment on the body's allergic response in test situations will be monitored. The maximum planned study duration for all subjects, including the screening, treatment and follow-up periods, is approximately 180 days.

Nasal Obstruction Present FindingBackground Allergic rhinitis is a common health problem with a worldwide prevalence is 10-25%, and poses significant impact on the quality of life of the patients. In Thailand, the prevalence of allergic rhinitis in the general population is 13.5%, of which the frequency of allergic rhinitis increased from 23% to 38% in the children, and 61.9% in the graduate students. Despite intranasal steroid being the current first-line treatment of patients with allergic rhinitis, only 60% of patients achieve excellent control. Persistent nasal congestion is the major symptom which is difficult to control in these patients. Data are limited about efficacy and safety of the additional use of 0.05% intranasal oxymetazoline hydrochloride (OXY) for persistent nasal congestion that does not adequately respond to recommended doses of intranasal steroid (INS) and oral antihistamine(OAH). Objective To determine the efficacy and safety of the additional use of OXY for persistent nasal congestion in allergic rhinitis or non-allergic rhinitis patients inadequately controlled by combination treatment with INS and OAH. Methods The investigators performed a 6-week, randomized, double blind, placebo controlled, clinical trial in 50 patients with allergic rhinitis or non-allergic rhinitis whom inadequately controlled by combination treatment with INS and oral antihistamine (OAH). After an initial screening, qualified individuals were randomized into 2 groups including the treatment group and the control group. The treatment group received the INS (2 puffs in each nostril twice daily) and OAH (1 tablet once daily) plus OXY (2 puffs in each nostril twice daily) The control group received INS (2 puffs in each nostril twice daily) and OAH (1 tablet once daily) plus placebo (2 puffs in each nostril twice daily).
