REGENETEN™ Bioinductive Implant System in Full-thickness Tears

Rotator Cuff Injuries

The study is designed to assess the safety and efficacy of Arthroscopic rotator cuff repair (ARCR) augmented with REGENETEN in subjects requiring full-thickness rotator cuff tear repair or revision repair versus Arthroscopic rotator cuff repair alone.

Mesenchymal Stem Cells in Rotator Cuff Repair

Rotator Cuff TearTendon Injuries1 more

Randomized clinical study involving 44 patients, evaluating the effect of mesenchymal cells on rotator cuff repair. The primary outcome will be post-operative MRI tendon integrity and secondary outcomes clinical assessment by the UCLA and American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) scales and pain by visual analog scale (VAS).

Bankart LesionsSLAP Lesion5 more

The study is a multicenter, retrospective, non-randomized, non-controlled and consecutive series post-market study. The purpose of this study is to collect data confirming safety, performance and clinical benefits of the ToggleLoc 2.9 mm and the JuggerLoc Soft Tissue Systems when used for soft tissue to bone fixation in the shoulder. The primary objective is the assessment of performance by analyzing soft tissue to bone healing in the shoulder. The secondary objective is the assessment of safety and clinical benefits. Safety will be evaluated by recording and analyzing the incidence and frequency of complications and adverse events. Relation of the events to device, instrumentation and/or procedure will be specified. Clinical benefits will be assessed by recording patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) at the longest follow-up after surgery (minimum one year).

Analysis of the Effect of Neuromuscular Electro-stimulation on the Performance of Isometric Rotator...

Rotator Cuff Impingement SyndromeRotator Cuff Tendinitis1 more

Introduction: Shoulder disorders are a common musculoskeletal problem causing pain and functional loss in different populations. Tendinopathies are a group of pathologies commonly diagnosed in patients with shoulder pain. Weakness of the rotator cuff musculature has already been documented in other studies, evidence in the literature suggests that patients with tendinopathies demonstrate decreased muscle activation, this is caused by pain, changes in nervous system processing and apparently also by structural processes that occur in the tendon .Treatment often involves resistance, isometric exercises aimed at altering pain and restoring function. Some studies have been investigating the use of ENMS (neuromuscular electrical stimulation) in patients undergoing surgical procedures on the shoulder, other studies have also investigated its use in tendinopathies of the lower limbs, as an effective way to decrease inhibition. Objective: The main objective of this study will be to analyze the muscle strength of internal and external rotation of symptomatic shoulders compared to asymptomatic ones when exposed to neuromuscular electrostimulation, associating muscle strength with joint function. Methodology: This will be a cross-sectional study. An expected total of 48 subjects will be divided into two groups, n=24 with tendinopathy of the rotator cuff, confirmed by clinical diagnosis and nuclear magnetic resonance imaging, the other group being healthy individuals, with no history of shoulder pain. These individuals will be evaluated by a first evaluator who will perform the eligibility of the subjects and collect the initial information, the second evaluator will perform the isometric strength evaluation with a manual dynamometer. Two batteries of tests will be performed in both groups, a conventional assessment of isometric strength and the other subject will be submitted to neuromuscular electrostimulation. These strength values in Kgf were normalized for each individual, being divided by the body mass index (BMI) and multiplied by 100, as already performed in previous studies. Expected results: The initial hypothesis is that patients who present with the studied condition when submitted to the strength test with muscular electrostimulation will demonstrate greater isometric strength than when they were tested without the device.

Ultrasound After Total Shoulder Arthroplasty

Total Shoulder ArthroplastyRotator Cuff Tears1 more

The purpose of this study would be to evaluate a group of patients status post post-total shoulder arthroplasty to assess the integrity of the rotator cuff using ultrasound. We believe ultrasonography imaging to be a comparable and efficacious modality to evalute tenotomy healing rates and diagnose rotator cuff failure after total shoulder arthroplasty. In addition, we believe ultrasonography to be a cost-effective modality to asses the rotator cuff after total shoulder arthroplasty. Our population would consist of patients that received total shoulder arthroplasty within the last 5 years.

The Effect of Microfracture Procedure on Rotator Cuff Tendon Healing

Rotator Cuff TearsMicro Fracture

Patients with complaints of shoulder pain or limitation of motion and had rotator cuff rupture diagnosed with magnetic resonance imaging will be analyzed and the patients with surgical indication will be included in a randomized fashion. One group of patient will undergo standard arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, while the other group will have microfracture procedure in addition to the standard arthroscopic repair. Before the operation, functional and clinical conditions will be recorded with Constant and American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Shoulder Score (ASES) universal shoulder scoring systems and Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) pain scale. The blood supply and healing of the tendon in the repair area will be compared by the doppler ultrasound (superb microvascular imaging) at the 2nd, 4th, 8th and 12th week after the operation. Post-operative clinical, functional status and pain levels will be evaluated with Constant, ASES and VAS pain scales at 24th week.

Functional and Radiographic Outcomes After Shoulder Surgery

Shoulder PainOsteoarthritis of Glenohumeral Joint1 more

The objective of this study is twofold: First, to determine whether higher levels of pre-operative psychological distress predict worse outcomes after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair; second, to obtain functional outcomes (VAS pain, VAS satisfaction, VAS function, Simple Shoulder Test (SST) and American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) Score), physically examine and perform a radiographic analysis of patients at a minimum of 6 months after reverse total shoulder arthroplasty, total shoulder arthroplasty, arthroscopic scapulothoracic bursectomy, acromioclavicular joint reconstruction and arthroscopic rotator cuff repair.
