Systematic Development and Test-Retest Reliability of EISA

Disabilities PhysicalSensory Disorder

The purpose of this proposed study, is the development and validation of EISA, a Self-report outcome measurement tool, for assessing the satisfaction of everyday functional needs, for consumers using Electronic Assistive Devices (EADs) as the primary means to complete Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs). The EISA outcome measure is proposed to be designed as a questionnaire that can be self or interview-administered to users of EADs. The development of EISA shall be modeled along the lines of development of the self-report outcome measure, Functional Mobility Assessment (FMA) (Kumar et al., 2013). The proposed tool EISA, would serve as a dynamic gage, for assessing perceived user function, related to using EADs for completing IADLs. The instrument is proposed to undergo systematic development in three phases. In phase 1, an initial pool of potential EISA items shall be generated, based on literature review data. In phase 2, content experts (clinician and EADs user) review panels, shall assess the initial pool of potential EISA items for further content validity. The objective of phase 3, would be a validation of the first iteration of EISA, by establishing reliability for test-retest administration and internal consistency, at acceptable levels, by 25-100 EADs users. Statistical analysis for test-retest reliability and internal consistency estimation shall be carried out in phase 3 of the study, using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 24 software.

GOUTMETALSAIN: Comparison of the Perception of Metallic Taste According to Lingual Locations in...

Taste DisordersSensation Disorders4 more

This is a mono center , observational study carried out within otorhinolaryngology department in CH Valence. This is a descriptive and exploratory study in healthy volunteers. Based on the hypothesis that Metallic taste is imperfectly assessed, this study will provide a better understanding of the Metallic Taste.

Postural Control in Breast Hypertrophy

HypertrophySensation Disorders

Principles of motor control suggest that breast hypertrophy can lead to sensoriomotor alterations and impairment in body balance due to postural misalignment. The investigators conducted this study to evaluate the postural control with different sensorial information condition in women with breast hypertrophy.

Sensory Processing Skills in Toddler With Joint Hypermobility

Child DevelopmentSensory Disorder2 more

shows that children and adults with joint hypermobility may be identified with common clinical problems that are unrelated, such as chronic fatigue, anxiety, and a range of gastrointestinal functional disorders [4-6]. Considering the relationship of joint hypermobility with joint muscle tone and posture, sensory processing skills may also be affected in individuals with hypermobility. No study in the literature examines the relationship between joint hypermobility and sensory processing. This study was planned to detect joint hypermobility as early as 12-14 months and to examine its relationship with sensory processing skills.

Sensory Symptoms in Tourette Syndrome and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

Tourette SyndromeObsessive-Compulsive Disorder1 more

This study seeks to address two key questions related to sensory dysregulation in Tourette syndrome (TS) and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD): 1) Is sensory dysregulation in OCD clinically distinct from that in TS? 2) To what extent does sensory dysregulation affect QOL in each of these disorders? Patients with TS, patients with OCD, and healthy controls will complete an online battery of validated questionnaires assessing sensory dysregulation, psychiatric symptoms, and quality of life.

Salivary Immune/Stress Biomarkers Among Children

StressEmotional3 more

Background: The use of easily accessible biomarkers for assessing young patients' health is important. This study's aim is a measuring stress/immune biomarkers in saliva of healthy school-age children and compare subgroups according to age, sex, stress perception in dental pain related to symptomatic irreversible pulpitis (SIP) and symptomatic apical periodontitis (SAP). Material and methods: 50 children diagnosed with SIP and SAP aged from 6 to 12 years old will be treated with root canal treatment. Dental examination using DMF score and oral hygiene level will be performedby experienced dentists. Salivary samples will be collected three times: before treatment in day of first dental visit (1), after two weeks (2), and after next two weeks = 30 days (3). Additionally, pain and stress perception will be examined by VAS scale and questionnaires dedicated for children anxiety: Frankl behavior rating scale, Venham's anxiety and behavior rating scale. Salivary immunoglobullins A, G, M, opiorphin, free cortisol and amylase will be measured using commercially available ELISA kits. Results will assess which of the measured salivary biomarkers is related to stress and dental pain, suggesting its use for evaluating in non-invasive way in childhood.

Perception of Verticality After Stroke

Sensory DisorderStroke1 more

In this study, the researchers will investigate whether the E-effect is present in stroke subjects both on the subjective visual and postural vertical test. In addition, researchers will investigate the impact of the loss of different sensory information sources on the sensory reweighting strategies and perception of verticality by measuring the effect of somatosensory loss on the E-effect.
