Anterior and Posterior Approaches of Suprascapular Nerve Block

Shoulder PainPostoperative Pain4 more

Suprascapular nerve is a mixed motor and sensory peripheral nerve arising from the superior trunk of brachial plexus. The suprascapular nerve runs through the posterior triangle of the neck, anterior of the trapezius muscle and dorsal of the omohyoid muscle, in direction of the scapula. Suprascapular nerve block is performed by anterior and posterior approach. Posterior approach of the suprascapular nerve block has been shown for many years to provide effective analgesia in the shoulder region for the chronic and acute pain. There are studies showing that suprascapular block with anterior approach provides effective analgesia in shoulder arthroscopy. The aim of our study was to compare anterior and posterior approaches of suprascapular nerve block in terms of analgesic efficacy and patient safety.

Digital Therapy in Shoulder Rehabilitation.

Shoulder Pain

Digital therapy may provides real time visual feedbacks. Instrumented devices objectively quantify the patient's performance during rehabilitation and thus could be helpful for the personalization of the exercises. The interactive ball of this trial allows measuring both movement and pressure applied on it. Therefore, the objectives of this study are: (i) to evaluate whether the use of a novel digital therapy gaming system was therapeutically relevant during shoulder rehabilitation; (ii) to understand whether the device was effective in improving patients' engagement in comparison to a control non-gaming rehabilitation program.

Suprascapular and Axillary Blocks Versus Interscalene Block for Shoulder Surgery

Shoulder Pain

The purpose of this study is to determine whether the combination of suprascapular and axillary nerve blocks is non-inferior to the conventional interscalene block (ISB) in providing pain relief during the first postoperative day to adult healthy patients (age > 18) undergoing ambulatory shoulder surgery.

Physiotherapy in Women With Peripheral Persistent Pain Following Breast Cancer Treatment

Shoulder PainBreast Cancer

The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of a multimodal physiotherapy intervention including scapula exercises in addition to deep dry needling and neurodynamic techniques versus scapula exercises only versus conventional shoulder exercises on pain intensity, perceived disability, scapula muscle activity and health-related quality of life.

Dry Needling and Exercises in Shoulder Pain

Shoulder Pain

Shoulder pain is highly prevalent in the society. The role of muscle tissues in this pathology has received increasing interest. Some studies have proposed the role of myofascial trigger points in this population. The purpose of the current clinical trial is to compare the effects of physiotherapy treatment consisting of an eccentric exercise protocol versus the same physical therapy program plus the addition of trigger point dry needling (TrP-DN) on pain and function in patients suffering from unspecific shoulder pain.

Effect of Kinesio Taping on Muscle Strength in Lower Trapezius

Shoulder PainMuscle Weakness

The purpose of this project is to investigate the effect of Kinesio tape on muscle strength of the lower trapezius in people with shoulder symptoms and decreased muscle strength in the lower trapezius - a randomized controlled trial.

Manual Therapy in Chronic Shoulder Pain Treatment

Shoulder Pain

Background: Passive oscillatory mobilizations are often employed by physiotherapists to reduce shoulder pain and increase function. However, there is little data about the neurophysiological effects of these mobilizations. Objectives: To investigate the initial effects of an anteroposterior (AP) shoulder joint mobilization on measures of pain and function in overhead athletes with chronic shoulder pain.

Effect of Isometric Exercise on Pain Perception in Rotator Cuff Related Shoulder Pain

Rotator Cuff Tendinitis

The aim of this study is to compare the immediate effects of an acute bout of isometric exercise of the shoulder external rotator muscles above and below pain threshold on pain intensity, pain threshold, conditioned pain modulation and pain free force in external rotation. To evaluate the results of the exercise, the subjects will be assessed at pre-intervention, immediately post-intervention and after and 45 minutes after each experimental condition.

Efficacy Of Platelet Rich Plasma In The Treatment Of Hemiplegıc Shoulder Pain

Shoulder PainShoulder Impingement5 more

In this study assessing whether platelet rich plasma injections(PRP) are effective in the management hemiplegic shoulder pain, 55 patients with hemiplegic shoulder pain was recruited to this randomized controlled study. Patients were randomized into two groups, first getting PRP injections, and other group taking sham injections.

Shoulder Exercises in Hypermobile Patients With Shoulder Symptoms

Hypermobility Syndrome ShoulderShoulder Pain Chronic1 more

Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (HSD) is a recent diagnosis that covers generalised joint hypermobility with one or more secondary symptomatic musculoskeletal manifestations. Current clinical management of this population with shoulder symptoms is based on limited evidence and includes a combination of non-specific physiotherapy modalities and exercise prescription. There is some evidence suggesting that strength training may be valuable for treatment of this patient-group. Therefore, the aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a heavy shoulder strengthening exercise programme in patients with HSD and shoulder symptoms.
